I’m a Social Worker, large percentage of coworkers are female, but I work with veterans so most patients are men. It’s actually, a huge advantage for me to work with vets, many will not speak to a woman about their mental health issues.

This is definitely a move In the right direction. Taking away the drivers license of a parent with child support arrears is a bit like debtors prison. Sort of hard to make money to pay your bills when locked up. Of course, this doesn’t address the larger issue which is that family courts are horribly biased against fathers in the first place.

That’s not how child support is calculated in most states. The states take both parents income and determine a total amount of support let’s say is 1000 per month to make the math easy. Then the percentage of that total amount is based in the percentage each parent makes. So if the combined income is 100k, but man makes 80% of that he pays 80% of the child support. This is troubling because Alabama passed the 2010 law according to the article making it a felony for a teacher to have sex with a student. An ex-parte order requires a simple accusation. It will almost always be issues. At the subsequent hearing, a decent Judge would require some evidence. In family law cases, there's usually nothing more than an accusation and the order stands. This guy could seek an order and put the women to the invonvience of showing up to the hearing.

Statutory rapist is a good one. Sorrg for being pedantic but I really think there needs to be some reform in this area of law. I don't for one second condone teachers having sex with their students, but 30 years is insane sentence for this especially if the student consented, I know the legal principle is that they can't consent, but that lacks nuance and logic. I hear you. The problem is that no blame will still lead to a perception that the person under the order has committed some kind of wrong. There should be one kind of order, in my opinion, and it should only be awarded when there is actual evidence of a threat. If that were the standard, we'd see at least a 90% drop in restraining orders.
