I’ve heard this phenomenon referred to as “the pink tax”.

I want to know what her husband does for a living and what his salary range is that they can afford this, happily. But more importantly, where did she find him? Most men I am dating now insist we split the bill or take turns paying. I can’t imagine any of them being open to this. Some outright have told me that two incomes is a non-negotiable requirement. Where can I find him?

" While most women would want to date someone who is attractive, they wouldn't want to date someone who puts much more attention and value to their own beauty than any woman, that would be a huge turn off. Likewise, while most high-caliber men would like to date someone who is at least educated and/or has a career, they wouldn't want to date someone who is much more powerful than him, as that would render his role as the provider useless." This has been my experience, too.

Get off his ship. You’re not happy. You can’t control or change a man. He doesn’t appear to be making any effort or taking overt acts to separate from his ex and commit to you. Continue on being the best version of yourself. You’ll find your captain. In the meantime, get off this man’s ship.

Congratulations & Well Done! It's always refreshing to read positive field reports. Good luck with all the wedding planning! Cheers!

Haha! Thank you! I agree, let’s make “get off his ship” an official RPW slogan!

Amen! It also important to remember that he is the Captain, you are the first mate. A first mate should never try to control or otherwise change the Captain... If you're unhappy, first, take a look at yourself to see if there is anything you can do to fix it... If you're still unhappy and/or don't have respect for your Captain, get off his ship.

Aw, you’ve been alpha-widowed! Go into nun mode (no sex or pursuit of any male) and focus on improving yourself. Weight loss, skin care, learning a new hobby, whatever it is that is a self-improvement and distraction. Improve your SMV, become the best version of yourself possible, then sit back and realize that not only have you gotten over him, but so many males see the value in you that he couldn’t. Good luck!

Apologize and have the wedding where he wants it. He is the Captain, you are the first mate. Good luck and I wish the both of you many years or marital bliss!

If a man over the age of 40 has been married before, he is more likely to marry than a 40-year-old man who has never been married. This is kind of surprising to me. The older than 40 divorced men I know at work joke about "never making that mistake again", etc., etc.,

Thank you for your well-thought and detailed response. This is exactly what I was looking for-- not a critique of Dr. Phil in general, but an honest analysis of this particular couple. I agree that the woman needs to realize a lot of the things you mentioned and was shocked that Dr. Phil failed to say that. My advice to you, LadyLawyer, is to stop watching trashy daytime television. Agreed, but it's just a "fun" guilty pleasure that I watch only once or twice a year for entertainment. Last night…

Do you really think marriages and relationships can be saved in 15-30 minute segments? Well, no, of course not. And perhaps I should've been more specific in my post, because I'm not asking if Dr. Phil's methods work... I am more interested in RPW's thoughts related to the following: Is the husband a "misogynist", like Dr. Phil says? Is the woman in the "wrong" for refusing to have sex with her husband? She claims that she needed more of an "emotional" connection before sex started again, and Dr…

LOL, it's a guilty pleasure, but I watch it like only once or twice a year. I agree that the people who go on the show are crazy (one redditor suggested they may have been hired actors). don't stick your dick in crazy and don't let crazy stick his dick in you. Hahaha, thanks for the response. :)

Thanks for commenting. I didn't know that the guests were sometimes hired actors, sometimes their emotions seem so genuine-- I guess that makes them good actors? And I just want to mention that it aired at 7 pm last night here, but I do realize that in other areas it goes on during the day, (with other talk shows and soap operas) like you pointed out. Maybe the networks are hoping to attract a larger male audience by broadcasting it later in the evening? Who knows.

Oh no! Organic chemistry what was made me change my major for Biology to Chem. I thought that things I learned in general chemistry (like pH equations) were so much easier to understand after I learned Orgo (for example resonance and how electrons traveled between atoms). I still play with my model kit for kicks and giggles. But, you're right, I was definitely in the minority when it came to appreciating Orgo. It caused most of my colleagues a lot of grief and heartache.

Careful! the perpetual cycle to disprove and prove every theory that exists Remember, science only disproves theories, it does not prove them (that's what was presented in my undergraduate Chemistry courses). :)

LOL, no need to apologize for being long-winded, I enjoy reading your perspective on this. I looked for some "scholarly articles" on this subject, but I could read only the abstracts unless I paid for them. One of them makes a distinction between a recreational runner and a competitive one. I'm definitely recreational, so I don't think the adverse health affects are as applicable. Anyway, here are the links, perhaps they'll be useful to you as a trainer: http://link.springer.com/article/10.2165/…

Cool. You seem very knowledgable and well-versed on this subject area. Do you know/have any scholarly articles (from medical journals, etc) that discuss women and running? This is something I am interested in (I don't "ignore scientific evidence", as u/pachan wrongly insists) and I would hate to discover ten years from now that I've been doing more harm to my body than good. So, any links would be greatly appreciated!

That being said, the statements in this article, like any other diet/fitness article, are good to consider, but aren't written in the holy grail of perfecting your routine. There is not ONE way to achieve results. Every body chemistry is truly unique and one method may work for Sally but not for Molly. A lot of factors play into that, which is why the diet industry is a powerhouse with so many desperate people seeking solutions. I do, however, think it's a great read for women who work out consi…

Oh geeze, I just read that discussion! I think you made some great arguments but those feminists are going to disagree and attack you, no matter what. I certainly agree with your points, I think they are valid and well-articulated but they won't be appreciated in that thread. The best advice I can offer is to not argue with a feminazi... or, as Mark Twain aptly put: Never argue with a fool, onlookers may not be able to tell the difference.

This article is interesting, but my own personal experiences have proved differently. I began running daily in 2008 and have been very happy with the results of my slimmer body and faster metabolism. I have not yet experienced any thyroid issues. For me, I think cardio is a great way to stay slim. Also, the author proclaims, "there are better ways to lose fat, and there are better ways to look good" but I didn't see a list of any alternatives to running. The article would have been more persuasi…

A friend of mine gave me her copy of this book. I remember reading the first chapter-- especially the part about not cooking for him-- and found that it wasn't something I could embrace. I felt like it wouldn't help me attract the type of man I wanted. As a matter of fact, I think I still have it on my bookshelf, collecting dust.

What did she have I didn't? What did she do I couldn't? THESE are questions I, too, ask myself far too often about men that I "loved", unreciprocated. I understand your pain entirely. I've been there before, quite recently, too. I wish I could offer you some advice to make the pain and hurt go away, but I just can't. What I can tell you (and hope for myself) is that time heals all wounds. Thank you for sharing your story here. If you want someone to talk to you more about this, please send me a …

LOL, yes, of course. I'll usually carry my laptop bag, my duffle bag and my purse (especially if he is carrying his own bags). I like to have my purse on the "outside" so it is easily accessible for me to get my wallet/passport/cell phone etc (I'm really a disaster when I travel, lol). Anyway, there were a couple of times that he held the purse while I rearranged the laptop bag and duffle bag to make it more comfortable (like switching the weight to different arms). I wanted to make sure that th…

Oh, I see your point. I certainly don't to it as an assertion or shit-test, I usually genuinely need the help for a second or two. I wasn't sure if "no purse holding" was a bright-line rule because it challenged his frame by default (because a purse is specifically designed for women, etc). Thanks for the response! :)

Ok, phew. I was worried that those 15-20 seconds of helping me fix my baggage would emasculate his frame (just because a purse is a purse, designed for women). Thanks for clearing this up for me! I will be more conscious of how I decide to carry all of my luggage so that I can avoid making him hold it at all, just to be safe. Thank you so much again. :)

Hi! I'm "new" here and I'm really eager to learn on how I can change my behaviors to be more like "you" (the ladies of RPW). So, please forgive me if this question is silly or stupid. Anyway, I'm curious about: making him hold your purse ...I never really thought of this as being a shit-test. I do remember asking my SO to hold my purse, especially if I was arranging other bags or having difficulty handling other items. But now that you mentioned it, I can definitely see how it would be a shit-te…

Yes, that's what I had to do in the past. I bought suits that are too long and ended up paying more than the cost of the suit to have it tailored. It's so funny-- a skirt that is designed to be slightly past the knee goes half-way down my shin! :/

I'm always feeling kinky! Any store suggestions for where I can find a cute corset? Edit: I should also add that my chest is small, too. In the past, it hasn't "filled" the cups of bras that have a wire support on the bottom. Do you still think a corset will work? OMG WHY AM I SHARING THIS WITH THE INTERNET?!?!?!

Why buy a suit? I'm expected to wear suits for court appearances. But I do enjoy separates for meeting clients and days in the office- especially colorful ones! :) Thanks for the suggestions!!! What do you think of knee-high boots (for my commute)?

Great! Thanks so much, I'll look at The Limited website right now. I've been really disappointed with the selection at Macy's (Herald Square), the suits there are either too big or... ugly... but hopefully I'll have better luck at LOFT and Banana! It's so cold in NYC and I've been freezing with just regular (not super thick) tights at the drug store (they are perfectly fine in the spring though). What's your opinion on knee-high boots? And leg-warmers? Yay or nay? I was considering wearing eithe…
