They telegraph their intentions pretty hard, so unfortunately there must be a fair number of men willing to be abused in these kinds of ways. However, I'll admit I'm becoming increasingly concerned that there aren't enough people who will agree with many of the positions expressed here. They just have to be equipped and organized properly. Mixed units have worse combat performance than all female units, though all female units in turn perform worse than all male units.
