Get over any perceived stigmas. You either hit it off with someone or you don’t-everyone’s hangups/beliefs/needs/wants are different. The right person will accept you & your past…the wrong ones won’t for that and hundreds of other reasons. Don’t be jaded by someone’s incredible looks along with a lot of at-the-moment attraction. Keep your eyes on the big picture. Divorce is sooo common anymore but it’s true for some it may be a hard no…and that’s their loss especially in your situation where you…

Don’t overthink this. If she sees the divorce as a no go then there probably never was good timing…nothing you could do better. Might be worth a shot if you get another heart to heart talk to explain your timing on divulging the divorce. Explain you never meant to hurt her but you didn’t feel the time was right until you both had invested more time together AND that honestly there is no perfect timing…tho sooner is always better. As someone who’s done some online dating you usually DO post if yo…

Divorce is unfortunately very common now so don’t dwell on it in those conversations. Instead speak about how you’re hitting the gym, getting healthier and looking for new things & people to hang with. People will easily engage with those points

1st marriage (we were young & dumb…she freaked out adulting & split within 2 months)-i was leveled but after 10yr of working on a career & growing my own self through a lot of horrible (& some very good but not worth pursuing) dates I finally found a really wonderful woman. It can happen but you need to be happy & sure of your own self worth before you’ll be viable to any partner long term. Work on yourself & your whole world first then you can work on navigating the crappy world of dating in th…

Cheers sir! Yes it hurts for a while and can sting a little when an ex remarries. Like some mention…no more alimony or reason for them to be in touch. In my case I was especially pleased because my ex no longer carried my last name…no more connection to her and her trail of debts and other bad things. It’s good to move on :)

Glad to hear. Wish I could be better help. Marriages like people go through stages. If your partner is willing to work with you to go further, great but if not it’s only going to get worse. Your situation sounds very unique. Keep us updated!

I can totally relate. To me it’s a question of 2 issues: 1>different lifestyles & 2>differing habits/choices that are health related. Both can have vastly different results from day to day & year to year. My 1st marriage ended in 6yr from simply having different lifestyles. We simply had different speeds-she liked staying in with all her pets on the couch watching TV while TV sitting just is impossible for me-I always have to be busy doing things or atleast reading/learning. My ex is a very good…

Yup the OT is great and you can often get as much as you want. I hate sitting around the house if I don’t have things to do (& im pretty good at finding projects) so the OT has helped pay for a few toys, projects & funded a pretty nice retirement. If you can acclimate to their work culture and stay out of petty gossip you can do just fine & will actually be seen as a role model pretty quickly. Best of luck to you!

Used to be in management but 20yrs was enough…been working for an auto manufacturer for 15 years. Totally out of my comfort zone but pay is good, benefits are great and I no longer have to take work home with me. Frankly, I should have made the (crazy, I know) jump even sooner-probably would have my house paid off by now. It’s not brain surgery but it’s upsides more than make up for anything I miss of my old career.

We agreed to live in the same house (biting our tongues) until she could get a loan to cover some of her debts & to kind of(simplified explanation) buy me out at which point I moved into an apartment. It was a nice break from all the obligations of home ownership as much as I loathe apartment living. I estimated it would take 2 years to save up for a new home down payment …living cheap & constantly working I surprisingly moved into my dream home in ONE year. Years later happily remarried & livin…

Good luck to ya man, there’s a definite need. Going through my 1st divorce I soaked up info on divorce like crazy-I needed to understand everything i was going through. Not all men are like that but everyone can use some help to process the crap & to see a better life can happen with the right vision & putting in the work

There’s no need to tell her anything. You’re both done. Find new things to occupy your time, forge a new life & move on

Same…but Ive learned a lot/grown and found a wonderful wife. That said she has some rare health issues that could take her in the next 10yrs. If I lose her I would absolutely not marry again though I’d be open to a female companion with no steadfast rules/labels

Definitely-im fine solo but thrive in a good relationship. Divorce is something I wouldn’t wish on anyone but if a good relationship is important to you you have to keep seeking it. If it’s not, that’s ok too….we’re all different. I remarried 3yrs ago & couldn’t be happier…we’re as happy now as we were early on…maybe better :)

Be adult about everything. Try to never yell or take cheap shots. The marriage is over-accept it as fact and navigate it appropriately. Know that you can move on & a better life IS possible. The process is never fun (get involved in divorce recovery groups to help) but you’re hardly the only one going through it.

Totally hear ya. My divorce was 10yr ago but I too keep much of the evidence I discovered of the ex’s affairs. Like you, it’s almost like a security blanket-almost like it’s there to reaffirm to me that I did nothing wrong & that she chose to kill the marriage. I get many might see this as holding on to the past. So much that took place was like nothing I ever expected to have happen in my life. I rarely visit it anymore as Ive healed & remarried but on occasion it gives me solace to see what I …

Suddenly split from my wife one night after discovering odd things/warnings on various bills…. Apparently she hid a lot to attempt having a normal relationship but like a recovering alcoholic who does best avoiding triggers, she fell back into familiar “bad” ways. Worst that she did to me I guess is not being truthful in the beginning causing us, the kids & both families a lot of unnecessary griefHeck, forget me, her school aged children (from her 1st marriage) all had to deal with the fallout/e…

You sir did it right! My situation was somewhat similar…& I always took the high road. As it became clear her/family got nasty I simply stopped all communication. It was tough. The ex tried to goad me in many ways. Whatever it was, I didn’t react. I just let time quiet things for all of us. My ex has bounced from job to job, town to town, man to man & skipped out on multiple rentals. The kids are all adults and on their own yet unfortunately have to witness her actions. I happily married a wonde…
