Most accidents that result in death or serious injury are caused by excessive and not appropriate speed, at least in the developed world. I stand by my point: If you can safely drive at a higher speed than the speed limit, the speed limit is wrong and/or completely arbitrary. 2	Obviously if you're a woman and it's your birthday you're above the law I absolutely agree. Safe driving isn‘t just not crashing, but as you said yourself, also avoiding risk to pedestrians. So the „traffic flow“ defence makes even less sense. Either speed limits are there because the road doesn‘t allow faster driving, or the circumstances would make it too dangerous to drive faster (school zones, dangerous turns, etc.).
