Happy for you. But, is there no place for men to chat? Isn’t that the point of this subreddit Reddit?

Why so many women in here all of the sudden?

Sincere question: why does a legal document determine whether you do, or don’t have sex? It’s literally a piece of paper, and legal paperwork. Again. Just curious.

All good, man. Thanks for sharing your story. I’ve had days that I’ve allowed myself not to be my best self. That’s OK to do sometimes.

Damn, can we get this in paragraphs?

Why does this thread shame other men? I read it a lot. Man opens up, and then you want to double-down? Not everyone’s ex-wife is a “cheating bitch,” as I see many responses here. Good grief.

I may it's always hard to say "Never," but this woman who I would consider co-habitating with would have to be a one-of-a-kind, no-brainer, long-shot type of woman. I guess I am saying I won't "default" to the "well, we've been dating for a year or two now--lets live together." It's gonna need to be an out-of-this-world woman. And, if I find that, what a good problem to have.

But then what $ does lawyer take for this effort?

Hey, OP, Similar situation. We split mortgage 50/50, but she put $20K more down. We are going through the most amicable divorce ever. I’m still at the house (move out in two weeks), and we are agreeable to no lawyers and to not put anyone’s feet to the fire. How important is that 50% of down payment considering lawyers may gobble that up, and more? Can you get a home appraisal and if you don’t like the 40% split, can you kick-up the $ owed an extra $3-5K, and get some of that back? This is just …

I’ll never get married to someone else…this is a shocking statement?

You clearly have a reading comprehension problem. I never asked for sympathy. In fact, my very headline of this topic was ownership of my shitty behavior. Who hurt you?

Trying to be cordial here. I don’t understand my “why.” Not the what. Not the how.

Thanks for the reply. You know next to nothing. Glad for your moral high ground. Let me type it again: you speak with authority on something you know nothing about. Sounds like you have some triggers of insecurity my post brought out. Judgment is super helpful. This whole post is having an adult conversation about a tough topic. You respond on raw emotion. Thanks for advancing the conversation.

Maybe you haven’t read the thread. Didn’t ask for sympathy. Just curious insights any one might have.

Everyone I’ve told this to has the same damn thing to say… It’s fucked up! (Again. I have ownership.). Thanks for the reply. I’ve told me STBX (can’t believe I just typed that acronym…) he’s DTM. That’s an acronym. But it’s a phrase you guys can figure out.

I won’t talk to him ever—well, a long time. One of my best friends. Again, not deflecting, but he could have met with me the next day and read me the riot act. And maybe then I come clean, but there’s a plan of action in place… Tore multiple worlds up. Again, I own my behavior. No doubt. But he could have met the next day and told me how fucking awful I am.

Will never get married again. She’s the one who said “down the line/in a year.” Just wanted to clarify.

Innocent? I’m literally outing myself and owning my asshole behavior. I do appreciate you replying, however.

Not asking for any sympathy. Trying to figure out why I did this. It probably is a subconscious thing. Cast all the stones you want. Judge first kind-of-thing, ya know…

Appreciate it. Have asked therapist for a referral. Still waiting for them to follow-up. I love my wife. This is going to be amicable. We’ve both said as much. We talk daily. No one is coming for the other person’s neck. Maybe it just is what it is. I love my wife to death. But I also like attention elsewhere. I’m the jerk. She’s gonna try to buy me out of the home. Perhaps when that happens—or we make another agreement—this comes back around… …she has said let’s see where we are in a year. I cr…
