So zero jail time, even though: Both women pleaded guilty to one count each of torture, and two counts each of armed robbery. They were given a two-year probation order, and a conviction was not recorded.

This is actually a trick, to get around the Equality Act of 2010. They are not excluding white males from applying, but rather, they are allowing women and ethnic minorities to "register their interest" before the opening date for applications. Their excuse will be that they are doing this to maximise the interest from those groups. But of course it's a big red flag, that really says: "if you are a white male, don't bother applying, because you won't get the job, not matter how qualified you are…

When they calculate this earnings/pay gap, do they account for men (or women) coming home from a hard day's work, and all their wages going into a joint account with their partner? And is it not the case, that most of the working partner's wages, will be spent on everything for the family — food, clothing, rent, utilities etc?

It will be gender neutral, almost all laws like this in the UK are. And more and more, in the UK, it's now recognised by the courts and the pubic, then men can be the victim in these cases as well.
