Well overall, yes. But sugar is a primary cause of inflammation so it should be first on your list of things to eliminate. Not sure if I was clear on that or not. I do understand you on this and low/no sugar has been a focus every time I evaluated my diet. And plus them nasty carbs. :) This is simple: just tell her to go part time on the wedding planner business and get a part time job to supplement the income for now. Make sure she knows it's only temporary, and set clear guidelines for what yo…

My advice for pull ups is to just do as many sets as you need to get the number you're going for, even if each set is only one rep. Over time you'll get stronger. So if you're trying to do 20 reps, maybe it goes like: 3 reps, 3 reps, 2 reps, 2 reps, 10 more sets of 1 rep each It's still 20 reps which is what counts for pull ups. This is a really great idea and I think I'll start there - going for 20. You are correct: carbs definitely contribute to inflammation in the body so you are wise to av…

You should not be relying on a start-up business for income. Period. If it's not making money and you don't have sufficient income and savings to buy groceries (as you claimed above) then she needs to back-burner that and get a paying job. It can be a side hustle until it's an income earner. You're probably right. It has provided semi-consistently in the past but it going through a dry spell starting this year out. She's been at it 3 years now as a wedding planner. Typically my income covers are…

OYS #2 29 years old, 5'6", 149.3 lbs. BF 20%, married 10 years, 2 and 3 yo daughters Read: TRM, RPC 100/200 Series Reading: WISNIFG and RPC 300s Physical/Lifting/Diet Lifts 1RM SQ - 146, Row - 94, BP - 94 (logged this wrong last week), OHP - 88, DL - 140 Nothing too special, making progress each session. Hit a snag on OHP last session but lifted all 5x5 today. When I previously did SL 5x5, I struggled most with OHPs and BPs. Made me feel like a weakling which is negative thinking and not worth…

Emotions are great, but they shouldn't define us. If we experience negative emotions they shouldn't rule us such as anger becoming lashing out at others. It's good to take some time to process them using self control in the context of God and the situation, and then learn to act in a Christian manner (fruit of the Spirit) in any situation. It's good to learn how to model this for your wife. You are right and logically I've heard this before. I need to pray on my volatile emotions and ask God for…

Teach her how to process her emotions in prayer and come to you with the small things, so they don't build up and blow up into big messes which are volatile for both of you. The bold is something I'm confused about myself. Processing or even sensing my own emotions is a definite weak spot for me. I've been learning how to meditate and have begun to notice my emotions quite a bit more but praying through them I'm unsure of. Once I realize I'm experiencing an emotion, I would pray with God on it? …

What if it's not what you're meant to do to pay the bills, but instead God wants you to use it in your free time? Here's one example of a guy who has made that work for the sake of the Gospel . Maybe you could put your skills to work in a similar way, tailored to your situation and abilities. And that's what I've come to understand as why I'm creative. Not so much for my selfish ambition regarding it but possibly something like you posted. That's really interesting and thanks for sharing that. P…

Well what I meant was could one of you change shifts so you can be together? As far as the job, "art as a career" sounds sketchy at best. There's a reason for the term "starving artist", so unless you've been regularly successful at this already then I would make it a hobby instead, which you can do in your free time. Unfortunately, we're lacking options in childcare. Paying for a childcare is extremely expensive these days. We've run the numbers before and it just costs a whole lot less money a…

You can get an idea of your BF from the US Navy Body Fat Calculator, as well as searching for body fat photo guides online and comparing what you see in the mirror against them. Thank you. The calculator says I'm 12%. Looking at pictures though, I'd say more like 20%-24%. Again, I'm small so that may have a factor in it all. I'm 50, and here's a typical day for me* If I can manage this at 50, you can certainly manage it at 29 even with your health issues. How bad do you want it? Definitely und…

Hey there. I'm a bit reluctant to share/post but lets get this ball rolling. I appreciate the read or any feedback. 29 years old, 5'6", 152 lbs. BF ? , married 10 years, 2 and 3 yo daughters My RP history is a little weird. Found TRP/MRP about 2014 - went rambo/didn't lift/basically threw a tantrum in short time period. Gave it up and figured I couldn't handle it. Revisited MRP in late 2017 knowing I need to OYS and started eating better/lifting for first time in 2018. Had trouble reconciling my…

Glad you can relate. If you look at Jesus thoroughly, you can see both sides of him and God. Assertive and meek all in one. A lot of lovey dovey forgiving Jesus is taught about without pointing out both sides of his character in context. The challenge then is how do we exhibit two elements of similar character ourselves. Reading about it and even understanding is a start but the hard part for me is acting like that.

I appreciate this a lot. Lots of good wisdom here. First, God hasn't judged you yet. That won't happen until Judgment Day. So, it's more accurate to say you will be judged by God someday, but until then you must judge for yourself your own life and actions. I don' think I ever made that connection that judgement hasn't actually occurred. Since accepting Christ, I've always consider myself a sinner who is learning how to live like Jesus. Making judgement of my own self with belief in God's Word i…

Agreed. I think learning to converse with other's like Kirk mentioned in "Hell's Best Kept Secret" - naturally talking, spiritually talking, and bringing up salvation is something I need to work on. I do need to keep trying new things. I'll do what chuck suggests and stay planted helping production but finding my spiritual gift will come with exploring many different ways to serve.

Thanks for sharing those videos. I don't think anyone's really conveyed sharing the law and Jesus together like that for me and it's a really important understanding I needed. Thank you. I feel way more comfortable with learning how to evangelize now.

Right, the Great Commission. I've been knowing I would need to begin evangelizing at some point but I don't think I know how or to whom. I'm also unsure of what my gifts are. I've taken tests to see where I'm strong in the body but I still don't know where in my church I would be able to serve effectively. I currently help on production running cameras but I don't think that's my spot. I want to serve so I got started with something. I've read the gifts of the spirit and again, none of it resona…

I am unsure of what my mission is. I like to think I believe God over the world but maybe I am wrong. Especially in the day to day moments of my life, I feel like I forget that I can call on him. I think my purpose is to step up and lead/love/launch my family well unlike what I experienced in my own family. Is this the same as a mission though? I think a mission feels like it has to be some grandiose ministry but maybe that's not the case. It's very easy to let feelings or guilt drive our acti…

I appreciate this and think it convey's the point of the assertive right very well. The first time I read it years ago, I don't think I understood it. And this time reading it, I'm looking at it with God in mind. I have the free will and need to make this decision myself essentially. We decide what we believe, say, and how we behave. Even under God, that's the entire point of it right?
