Alabama checking in. Plenty of educated people in the state, but I will agree we have plenty of idiots too. The biggest reason we get a bad rep is being in the bible belt, treating college football like a religion, and having politicians that are still living in 1950. Our education system isnt good either, but areas like Huntsville, Birmingham, and Mobile have some outstanding universities that are actually well respected. working an internship after class until 5pm (or 8-5 on non school days) and a 30-45 min commute. Then so get home at 5:45 and start homework. cook dinner at 7 and eat, start back at homework/projects at 8 and finish at 9-9:30. shower at 10 and go to bed. so approx 30 min of true free time with this model.

...no hes about right. Computer science major here and between projects and other class homework you have about enough free time to cook a simple meal and shower. sure you can listen to music while you drive and cook but thats the extent of fun. Now of course this is not single night but definitely a vast majority.

I think what he is getting at is that when he begins to feel aware, he caves to a distraction because autopilot is easy and routine where as awareness is different and dynamic and unpredictable because everyone else becomes a variable in your thought process. He's afraid of other people taking his "control" of thought rather than him thinking about what he is used to thinking about.
