Are your incomes fairly equal? Are you lucky and she actually makes more than you? Dunno what state you are in, but 6mo of marriage should not translate into much/any alimony. But two kids, at least one before you’re married? You dun goofed son and will likely be sending her checks for the next 18ish years.

Needs a break 6 months in? I don’t care who is the problem here (it might be you). But just get the fuck out for both of your sakes. And good lord don’t get her pregnant.

I kept my band. I have no idea where it is. She kept her band and engagement ring (it’s very pretty) and plans to give it to our daughter eventually.

If you think your financial situation is bad now, it will only get worse the longer you wait.
/r/Divorce_Men04/11/23 02:38 AM

Then make sure that these situations are SPECIFICALLY described in the divorce decree. After that, just stick to what has been written.

You’re getting older bro. There’s pills to help with that.

But why would they do that?
/r/Divorce_Men06/10/23 03:54 PM

Dunno about that, but I’d do the one hour in person meeting if you can. You’ll probably find the person you want to use in the process.

Have as many consultations (usually free) with as many attorneys as you can. Once they have consulted with you, it would be a conflict of interest for them to engage with your soon to be ex wife.

Pitt and Angelina are on completely different income levels. She’s practically a normal person compared to him. Giselle LITERALLY has more money than Brady.
/r/Divorce_Men01/10/23 12:49 PM
2

I believe she has more money than him, but that’s moot because they are both stupid fucking rich. Alimony wasn’t going to happen either way. There has been no info that their time with/custody of the kids has ever been an issue between them. My understanding is that Tom bought a house very nearby (perhaps across the bay) so that they could all remain close. You seem more intent on making their divorce contentious than they did.
/r/Divorce_Men01/10/23 03:23 AM
6

Why? She literally has more money than he does. Of course this would be a smooth divorce. She has nothing to gain and he has nothing to lose.
/r/Divorce_Men01/10/23 02:54 AM

What about Tom Brady? He probably got out of his marriage free and clear. She’s worth more than he is. They didn’t drag each other through the mud. All in all I think he did pretty damn good. Had a young supermodel wife, got rich, famous, didn’t lose all his wealth in the divorce, and is now an early 40s single, rich celebrity. Dude is just winning over and over.

Just don’t get married again. Get involved with a woman? Let her know that marriage is not on the table. Don’t ever do it again, let it be known that you won’t ever do it again. It’s not hard to not do something.

Past the separation either of you can go fuck anyone you want. You’re separated and divorce is anticipated, you are both free adults out in the world. Don’t try and don’t accept any attempts at controlling behavior. Either or both of you can fuck off if you’re trying to dictate what the other can do.

Contributions and earnings in both of your retirement accounts during the marriage are marital assets. It is not unusual or malicious for her to have an interest in what’s in there.

/r/Divorce_Men12/06/23 07:53 PM

Absolutely not. My divorce was quite amicable. Friends have said “that’s how you should do it” and “you two are outliers” regarding our continued positive relationship. But it was still painful as hell, I cannot imagine the pain and anguish if our relationship was contentious. No one should ever marry. Be with the person that you want to be with. Try to make a happy life together. There is no reason to complicate it with the convention of marriage.

She doesn’t get to decide. Tell the judge that it is unreasonable, they will agree, and you can both tell her to fuck off.

This is a really stupid fight. File in a way that benefits you both most. Once the funds hit the account, it’s both of yours to split anyway. Arguing over a few hundred or a thousand dollars is really silly. Move on and stop finding conflict.

You need you have this condition removed from your decree. It’s stupid and unenforceable. I don’t know who wanted it in there, but it only serves as a way for one former spouse to control the other and/or as a point of continued conflict. But I still don’t understand what your complaint is. Your decree says that you MUST call everyday (again this is stupid) and that is what she’s doing.
/r/Divorce_Men12/12/22 02:24 AM
1

You said the decree said at most AND at least once a day. I’ll ignore that this is a ridiculous condition to place on each other. This sounds like she is abiding by the conditions of the decree. What is your complaint?

You’d need to negotiate a significant discount from the total amount you’d pay overall. What if she gets remarried immediately after your lump sum payment? You would have only had a single monthly payment, but instead you’ve paid the whole lot. You have to figure in the time value of money and inflation. Having a dollar today is worth a lot more than having a dollar in five years. I understand the psychological relief of “just being done with her”, but you can set up automatic transfers. You don…

It’s not your business what she does. Also quit using the BS excuse of “maybe our son has an emergency” to keep tabs on your ex. If your kid has an emergency, take care of it and call your ex. You have her number.

The way you’ve presented it is too confusing. No one can understand it. Also, stop referring to each other as husband and wife. Those terms are no longer appropriate. Mom and Dad, she and I. You are no longer married, she is not your wife and you are not her husband. Your only mutual responsibility is to your children, as parents not spouses.

If you’re divorcing, all of the expectations of married life are gone. Any of the “why doesn’t she…” do x, y, z? Are over. You are both independent adults. Treat her as such. No need to bend over backward for her, but treat her with the respect you’d treat any other person you’d meet.

In a fair scenario it’ll all get figured in. Half of the money you put toward your down payment will come back to her one way or another. Buy or rent makes no difference in the context of divorce. What you need to do is make the best decision that you can for you and your kids. You’re about to be out in the wilderness on your own. What would you do if you suddenly found yourself single with two kids? Because that’s what you need to do. Don’t worry yourself about the possibility of getting a few …

I’d known my current girlfriend for a long time, neither of us had expressed any romantic interest in each other. Both of us ended up getting divorced at the same time. Many would say that we got together too quickly, but we understood each other and were able to offer support. It has worked for us and we’re happy.
/r/Divorce_Men22/09/21 03:36 AM

Theoretically the child support is not going to your ex, it’s going to your child. I know that may not exactly be reality and it surely does not feel that way, but that money is for your child.

Currently in bed with a woman who knows, unequivocally, that I will never be remarrying. Quit making assumptions about my opinions or experiences. All I’m saying is that the car analogy is a stupid, hamfisted way to talk to a woman that you, presumably, care about.
/r/Divorce_Men29/01/21 12:44 PM

You’re projecting your assumptions onto me. I agree with your stance on marriage. I’m saying you’d have to be a mouth breathing blockhead to think that this is a good way to describe your relationship to a woman that he presumably cares about.

No, no it is not. Don’t compare her to a fucking jalopy you bell end. Just tell her that you’re not getting remarried.
