Not necessarily horror, but I had to stop watching after the first episode of the tv show "You" because it was so obvious to me how misandrist the writers were. Every single male character (at least in the first episode) is a horrible abuser, from the stalker main character to the unnamed neighbor who beats his wife.

As long as the movement is called that, the undercurrent of misandry in the movement will remain. Words matter, and naming a movement that claims to support gender equality after women isn't exactly a great way to reflect that ambition.

I see the same problem with Vaush sometimes, it's unfortunate that in order for public-facing commentators (especially male ones) to be accepted into leftist spaces, they need to cowtow to the misandrists occasionally

I hate that whenever the issue of male birth control is discussed, it's assumed by feminists that men don't want it or that we're just too picky about the potential side effects like, how many times have you heard that "the reason the male birth control pill isn't out yet is because one male test subject probably had a headache, meanwhile women have to deal with a million side effects, men need to grow a pair smh"

The war in afghanistan was in large part fought in the name of feminism. Freeing women from the radical patriarchal islamists is a huge part of modern US military propaganda when it comes to justifying their actions in the middle east.

I really wish feminists would stop trying to play no-true-scotsman whenever they see feminist rhetoric that leans into misandry. I really wish people in the men's movement would get away from the thought process of "leftism = misandry" because it's not true, (or at least it doesn't have to be). Combining labor/class politics with men's advocacy has so much political potential, the left just needs to wake up and do it

I kind of see feminism as a necessary philosophical step on the road to gender equality in the same way that liberal capitalism/enlightenment philosophy is a necessary step between feudalism and socialism. In places where gender roles are extremely rigid and traditionalist, feminism can bring about a lot of social change and get us to think critically about those gender roles in the first place, the same way enlightenment thinkers got us to think critically about the power structures of monarchy…
