Wow. This is exactly what I needed to read. To some extent, and through various readings as well as some trial and error, I've worked on aspects of this already, and am familiar wifh a lot of the signs and behaviors. Putting this into practice though, a different story. I'll respond in more depth when at a laptop. The drive is there. She married me for my personality, and I'm relatively fit. So time to stop being a door mat. Thanks for being so thorough. Helped clarify some stuff.

Long time reader, first time poster. Sounds like a lot of you have turned things around in your marriage, and although I feel like I am half-way there through using the power of "NO" and gaining a spine with my in-laws, there is a lot I have to learn. So, when you initiate the STFU, in that hypithetical get home from work, she wants you to take over with the kids, complains about stuff etc. Aside from going to the gym, what do you do in response? You don't allow your emotions to come to the fore…
