2	Need help getting rid of the thought of what people think. If you were a highschool guy my advice would be different, but in this case you're no longer in school forced to be with the same people. Every girl you approach is a stranger and you'll most likely never see them again if you have an awkward encounter with them (unless they're at your place of work) so just stop caring what they think, try and present your best you and if things don't click then oh well. If they feel like talking or taking things further they'll try to engage you. If you randomly break stride and engage in conversation it can seem sudden and awkward.
