I agree with this. There’s something so finite and cathartic about cutting ties and even erasing anything that brings back memories. Not having the reminders laying around can really help you get through it.

For me, I not only poured a lot of time into new hobbies, exercise, etc., I focused on being the best I could be to attract the best future partner. I went through betrayal, cheating, abuse, etc., and in the end, I realized that I simply was too open to being whatever they wanted and not what I wanted. Now I have a husband who far surpasses my ex and any person I’ve ever dated, because I held myself to a higher standard and refused to even date anyone less.
