I agree that insisting on sex on the first date is silly. I think genuine sexual attraction is absolutely possible even if sex doesn't happen for far longer than 1 date. However, I think you're arguing against a more extreme position than what OP was pushing in his post.

Are you agreeing with or disagreeing with the original commenter's theory regarding women in media leading to women's flexible heterosexuality?

I think its less so the pursuit of casual sex and more so the pursuit of being sexually attractive. And, there's nothing wrong with wanting to be seen as sexually attractive first (as a priority) and a stable partner second. Suppose a woman was in a relationship where she was only used for sex. She rightfully feels bad that her partner only values her sexually and not at all for her other qualities. I wouldn't call her demands for being valued personally as some pursuit of "ego stroking".

I think the point OP is trying to make is that men do care about being valued as a long-term partner, but they also care a lot about being sexually attractive to their partner. In a world where being "husband" or "hookup" material is mutually exclusive (which I know it isnt), OP points out that many men would rather be the latter. But, that's not to say that men wouldn't want to be viewed as both. Similarly, while most women seeking LTRs would rather be viewed as "wife" material first, Im sure m…

All of our insecurities are our partner's problems, in a sense. We're all insecure to some degree, and our mental states are going to inevitably rub off on our partners. Obviously there's an upper limit to that and what one should tolerate in a relationship. I don't think men should be faulted for their preferences towards sex, in the same way that I don't think women should be faulted for their preferences towards commitment. > Did he ask for a hookup? Yes? No? Does it matter? Lets say no for s…

I agree that going from hooking up with strangers to vetting your sexual partners is a good development for many. However, I was trying to illustrate that personal growth leading to different treatment of partners can result in self-doubt for the partner. I'm not saying the women should "give in" to early sex if they've had a bad experience; similarly I don't believe that the man should "give in" to early marriage if he had a bad experience. I simply hope to build a sense of perspective from one…

I'm not sure what the "consistency" part refers to, could you clarify? Not trying to be snarky, genuinely asking. One part I'll comment on is this line: “I’d be fine if she made other guys wait”. Ultimately, many men view sex as a form of validation, which you seem to comment on. I don't think there's anything inherently wrong with that. And, let's face it, many men (due to factors both internal and external) have their self-worth influenced by their ability to have sex with a woman or women. So…

I think the person you replied to had a misguided initial comment: a person's opinions on the men she would/would not date are allowed to differ from some societal/objective metric. And, while I agree that dating is subjective in that no two people have the exact same preferences, dont you think the label is a bit misleading? Are there men who would date obese women or women who would date super short men? Sure. But ultimately certain traits are going to allow you to appeal to a larger proportio…

I dont get how a bunch of cherry picked replies prove anything. I dont believe in using Reddit posts as evidence. Ironically, however, if you Google "Reddit askwomennocensor hookup vs relationship" many replies will be more balanced than whats being claimed here.

Ok, I'll bite for funsies. So first, it seems that you're strongest arguments only serve as justification for allowing abortion when it is a threat to the mother's life (the whole protecting the temple stuff). Ok great, but I think this is a pretty narrow definition of pro-choice. I think that most pro-choice people would also advocate for abortion (up to a certain point in the pregnancy) regardless of whether the pregnancy was a threat to the mother's life or not. While you seem to suggest that…

Id be curious to see studies on this. As a minority in the US I often observe most minorities dating within their own races. Thats not to say that certain races dont get fetishized, but when I imagine the typical minority relationship, its usually with someone of the same race. I could be wrong and Id be open to seeing the stats.

I agree 100%. My issue with some of the people here is the willingness to just blame it all on circumstance and give up. Is modern dating exhausting, even when you arent at the bottom? Absolutely. Is it unfair that some will have to work harder to get into relationships? Yep. But in no way do I think the solution is laying down and rotting.

Height jaw structure and race? I agree with the first two, inso far as being in the bottom percentile really hurts you. 5'3" and absolutely 0 jaw sucks: but I think thats true for the majority of features. While I do think height matters a lot, I genuinely dont think being short disqualifies you from relationships (using my own experiences here as justification for my beliefs). I also think jawline is way overblown by TRP/looksmaxxing people. Finally, race? Not sure what you mean here. I agree t…

While I think we may agree in the end, Im not sure this argument is sufficient against the typical TRP playbook. TRP claims that many of these women are only settling, which is the reason why so many marriages become sexless.

Hmm I think I agree to a limited extent. I think certain cultures prioritize these larger weddings more than others. While having a child almost necessitates spending a certain degree of money on them, I dont think the same thing is true for weddings. Finally I think that people generally date/marry within their class. As such, in my view even those who have objectively lower socioeconomic statuses still get married. But, who's to say 🤷‍♂️

I agree with the first premise. I have also seen research that states women are much more content in their singleness (which seems to align with what you're saying). Ballpark, how many women do you think are in these multiple women 1 man relationships? This is the thing that I have a hard time buying, nor have I seen much academic evidence for.

Out of curiosity: are you a man or woman? I agree to an extent with the sort of paradox you're describing. However, my perspective is that a lot of the gold digger types are also the ones most willing to market to men. If your goal is wholly self-interested and you care little about what others think, its unsurprising that you would at least have surface level success. Just because men are attracted to a show that a woman puts on doesnt mean that men also want whats underneath (which may be unbe…

Quick question. What do you think of the other way around (i.e. male perception of female attractiveness) and what do you think the most commonly held TRP perspective is on the same topic?

Maybe I've lost the plot a bit. It seemed to me that the original commenter was suggesting that almost all women in relationships were dating up, thereby leaving a large portion of average men behind. But if N% of women are dating and are all perfectly dating up, then that would leave 100-N% of men behind as single. If this is true, which I dont think it is, I dont really see the issue. If its the case that the bottom women don't date, then the bottom men are also single. If its the case that th…

Again, not everyone can date up, by definition. By the assumption made in my previous comment, if 20% of women are in relationships, then 20% of men are in relationships too (excluding gay relationships here). If its true that all those women are dating up, then that would mean that the highest "value" women were single. For example: Let's use 20% again. Lets also say theres only 100 people of each gender in the world. If 20% of women are dating, and they all wanted to date up, and every man als…

If we assume that the overwhelming majority of dating is done between only 2 people (i.e. one person rarely has multiple dating partners), then how can that be true? By definition not everyone can date up.

Well said. And, I'd say the same goes in the opposite direction. Stable men don't pursue the "crazy hot" woman despite the fact that those women probably don't have a hard time finding sexual partners.

The problem with this statement is that you need to prove that all doctors (of approximately average attractiveness) get rejected by all waitresses (of above average attractiveness). Your original argument wasn't just "women care about being attractive", but rather that women won't date down ever (excluding your 3 scenarios). I think that's a pretty tough position to argue.

I think you have a very odd view of the world. First off, let's not forget that TRP is a fairly niche idea. The vast majority of the population doesn't identify with either pill. Regardless, I'm not sure where you get the wealth idea from? And why is it TRP vs TBP and only fans girls? There are successful women outside of sex work Tate doesn't show anything by being Tate. I get the point you're trying to make but I don't think the way you're wording it will resonate with a lot of people. Can't it be true that these women are sometimes taking a risk? "I'm really into him, even though I don't know him and there's a chance he's a weirdo/serial killer, I'm going to go through with it anyways." Just because you want to achieve something, doesn't mean you will. Just because something is desirable to the opposite sex, it doesn't follow that everyone of the sex will try to achieve that thing. Just because something is desirable to the opposite sex doesn't make that knowledge widespread. Allow me to elaborate. I think the basic claim that "having friends is a green flag" is hard to deny. Am I the only one that thinks that this is a good thing for men? If we discard the bodybuilder claim OP made that was baseless, I feel like this conclusion is reassuring in some ways. My claim isn't that males should pay for "everything". Ok, perhaps I should've been more clear. Your argument is that men should pay for everything in the dating realm, partly to show that he can provide, partly because of the gender pay gap. But again, the original commenter was referring to a relationship of equals. So again, why does the woman have to not prove the same things as the man? If women make say 15% less than men on average, why shouldn't the woman just pay for the same amount as t…

There isn't pay parity. The gender pay gap exists This justification doesn't work if your original claim is that men should pay for everything. Should men and women split the bill based on the pay differential? Lol. If he is to be the co-leader of a future household, he needs to prove that he's up to the job. If you're going to be co-leaders, then why doesn't the woman have to prove the same? In an equal relationship, shouldn't both parties contribute to planning and paying?

Listen guy, what happened to you in that example you gave was wrong. I don't think anyone will deny that. You say that women have abused you your entire life. You don't get to complain about misandry and then say shit like "wet diseased hole" lol.

This post is a little convoluted to me. I'm not sure if youre trying to make a normative argument (that's how it should be) or a descriptive one (that's how it is). Regardless, I'll address the post title. Have you ever been in a long term relationship before? In my view of a healthy relationship, the connection between partners is different than the ones you have with your friends. You seem to imply that one can be happy without a romantic partner, by having emotional needs fulfilled by friends…

I think you've got things twisted. People are more likely to cheat the easier it is. If you don't have options, you can't cheat. All you have to do is compare the traits that society places value on for the genders. Men: domiance, confidence, decisiveness, stability (financial, emotional), etc. Women: submissivness, youthfulness (beauty), agreeability, etc. I'm not saying every woman wants some alpha male dominant chad and every man wants some 18 year old submissive woman. But, it's undeniable t…

I know that "relationships" can mean a broad variety of things. But, if we were to look at LTR's would you maintain the same view? I think most people would agree that women have more options for LTR's, but I would argue that the amount of good options in that regard is equal across the sexes.

Men are sentenced to longer for the same crimes as women commit because men hold each other accountable. Again, I agree that men hold each other accountable (sometimes), but I'm saying that women also hold men accountable, as you even admit. Why aren't women doing the same? I still don't see why you think that accountability is supposed to be sex-internal, or something. Do you deny that men don't hold women as accountable as they should? Maybe going back to the original topic will illustrate my point better. I do think that women are not held as accountable than men when it comes to sexual harassment. But, I don't think it's because "women don't hold each other accountable." Is that part of it? Sure. But, you realize that men are also part of the problem here right? There's no shortage of men who don't believe that men can be sexually assaulted. My point is, it's not like men should hold men accountable and women should hold wom…

I agree that "mistakes" aren't as prevalent as people make them out to be in the dating world. I always tell people that dating shouldn't be about trying to convince the other person to date you. After all, you're there to show them who you are. Lying or being deceitful won't do anyone any favors. But, I agree with the other commenter in that attraction can change over time. Fundamentally, this is because people change over time. X 2 years ago is not the same as X today.

First of all, you realize the united states army has different fitness standards for men and women right? You can argue that it's wrong, sexist, woke, whatever, but if you want to talk about being "combat ready", the army defines that differently based on sex in 2024. Every soldier has to be combat ready Lol what? I mean, I guess I see your point. You can get punished for failing a fitness test, eventually leading to separation. There are roles far more distanced from combat than medics. Paralegals, HR, IT, PA, etc. But your comment is even crazier. Don't get me wrong, sexism is a problem in the armed forces. I don't really get what you're saying in the 2nd paragraph but I'll answer your questions and perhaps you can elaborate. I think I'd probably be equally likely? If I'm looking for someone to be my future LTR partner I find attraction to be more binary than linear. I wouldn't ever go 50/50 on the first few dates with any woman. But, I'd also expect to split costs of things later on in the relationship regardless of the woman.

because men can only respect women who make them earn it. Why are you taking this to be true? Have you ever met a man (in real life) that has ever thought this way? In my experience (especially as a guy myself) it's the exact opposite. However, I do hear men complain about girls playing hard to get. I agree and I don't. I do agree that women seem to care more about an emotional connection prior to sleeping with someone than men do. But, there's also plenty of women looking for casual sex where one might concede the opportunity to build that connection prior to having sex. How common is this scenario really? Highly unlikely, imo. Are you asking if red pillers are driven by anger over past rejections? I'm sure some are, some aren't. Just my two cents.

I think under that definition, a good amount of people would also think that it's neutral to positive. It seems that the general definition of settling is getting/staying in a relationship with someone who doesn't meet your standards. I generally disagree with people on this sub about how common settling is, but I do view settling generally negatively

I would be careful with the social media argument. It's very easy to have a feed that doesn't reflect reality. Its one thing to be shy and socially anxious, it's another to just be crass.

I assume the point would be that 80/20 stemmed from the OKC study, which therefore makes it only applicable to OLD. And, even in regards to OLD, the OKC study doesn't seem to support 80/20.

I was originally addressing the other commenter's kpop comment, but I appreciate the input. I am admittedly ignorant on the points you brought up. Do you think that most men would benefit from some knowledge of makeup and if so, are there any resources you would recommend men to look at?
/r/PurplePillDebate30/07/24 11:01 PM

Do you think it would work universally? Here's what I mean. I think the vast majority of straight women present themselves in a traditionally feminine way. As such, they may wear makeup, which can help themselves improve their look, within a feminine framework. And, most straight men find feminine women attractive. If we flip the script, it's undeniable that many women find the kpop "pretty boy" look attractive. I don't think there's anything wrong with that, but I feel like it's not something e…

I agree and I don't. I think one advantage women have over men in the dating sphere is that women are (generally) taught from a young age about the important of appearance. This is both good and bad. This is good in the sense that it teaches young women to dress well, take care of themselves, etc. On the other hand, this can also instill the idea that a woman's value is 100% dependent on her appearance, which I don't think is a good mindset to have both for the woman or for a society. This might…
/r/PurplePillDebate30/07/24 10:31 PM

I know this is just anecdote vs. anecdote, but I think there must be something else going on here. As someone who does not have the same conventional advantages you have, dating hasn't been easy but never brutally difficult either. I don't get approached by women often (but like you said, few do), but I haven't ever thought of my last partners as "outliers".

Sure, I'm just refuting your point though about first dates. People aren't going on first dates with potential hookups and certainly not FWBs.

Correct. But you still have to be attracted to them physically in the first place if you want to have sex. True, but you're not going to go on a date with them if you aren't attracted, are you? In my opinion, if a first date is already agreed upon, the barrier to a relationship is MOSTLY about personality, mannerisms, and chemistry.

I think you'd have to narrow down the community. This almost certainly differs from country to country, but I also believe it would differ a lot within a country (e.g. urban vs. rural). It will also depend on factors like education level. Regardless, I doubt the number is terribly high. Infidelity aside, you have to discount all the people in committed relationships, which takes out a solid chunk. Then you have to account for all the women that are voluntarily single, and the ones that are invol…

That's a good point. I guess we should clarify our definition of "wholly attracted". Because you're right, 40% of women definitely don't have a 10/10 view of their partner. What I mean by wholly attracted is, you're dating your partner for them (i.e. not because you settled), and you aren't going to get up and leave as soon as someone "more attractive" comes along. Does that make sense?

Well, like you said, it's the origin of the 80/20 rule so if the data is not usable (which is fair, it's an informal survey), it simply debunks the 80/20 rule in a different way. Just because it was the origin of the idea doesn't mean that it is solely responsible for keeping it alive. It's like with philosophy. Someone proposes an idea that starts a movement. That idea gets debunked, but someone else comes back with a better set of arguments for the original idea. To be fair to you, I'm largely…

Yeah that makes sense. I do think that is one problem? with redpill discussions I've seen (in and out of this sub). A lot of solutions to problems redpillers may propose are often more relevant to casual dating than they are to long term dating. That's not inherently bad obviously, because that's what some people want. However, I think that some people in the redpill community who struggle with casual dating would be successful if they realized that that wasn't the entire picture when it came to…

Fair enough. That is definitely an inconsistency in the post. The point of that part of the post was to argue against what I would take to be the default redpill counterargument. So to rephrase, I still think it's hard to believe that for 60% of women, those women that are in relationships aren't wholly attracted to their man.

Good point.

I definitely align with what you're saying. As I discussed with another commenter, for me, 80/20 is simply the concept that you stated.

Could you clarify the point you are trying to make?

I think I'm a bit confused. So, we agree then?

FWIW, as someone who found this sub today, I wasn't originally using the OKC data as proof for my post. But I understand why you would think I did, so fair enough. Because it's literally the exact opposite of what is commonly claimed. Perhaps there is some confusion here. Could you clarify what is commonly claimed? My idea of the 80/20 is simply that 80% of the women find 20% of men attractive. Actually it doesn't prove that at all, what it proves is that women, on average, find 80% of men's pho…

One point of the post was to argue that what you said doesn't apply to finding a LTR.

I don't because it seems most people who are younger (gen z) hookup on the first date and see if they are sexually compatible rather than waiting anyways. I don't see why this would be relevant? Even if what you said is true, sexual compatibility is definitely not all about physical attractiveness. And honestly, while this might be cope, I would even make the argument that someone who is very physically attractive (i.e. has no problems finding hookups) has a greater chance of being worse at sex …

I understand your comment, though am not totally sure what stance you're taking relative to the points made in my post. However, there is something I'd like to address. You claim that the same ratios play out in real life in nightclubs and bars. I agree. I even agree that OLD is a reflection of those spaces. BUT, those spaces (an OLD) are NOT a reflection of how finding an LTR partner always goes. For example, plenty of relationships begin from couples meeting in a place where they weren't expli…

I am aware that that post is likely one of the origins of the rule, but honestly I am skeptical of it (as someone who knows little of how OKC worked and the difference in landscape there vs in modern OLD apps). I don't see how "2/3 of male messages go to the top 1/3 of women" disproves the 80/20 rule. On the other hand, the message graph is a compelling counterargument. It still proves the rule on a theoretical level (that most women find 80% of men unattractive) but it does go against conclusio…

Would you mind sharing some of the evidence?

I probably should've clarified in the post. For me, 80/20 isn't about the numbers, but a concept. If you want to take the numbers out, to me, 80/20 is the idea that a minority of men are found attractive by a majority of women.

I agree and I don't. Sure, if you take someone who is physically deformed, 3 feet tall, no income, and an IQ of 20, they aren't going to have much success in real life or in OLD. But there's a few other things at play here. First, I firmly believe that someone can be "bad" at OLD. If we want to talk about men specifically, men, especially young men, are not great at taking pictures (at least when compared to women). This, while being a fairly niche in the grand scheme of things (i.e. in life), c…
/r/PurplePillDebate26/07/24 11:58 PM

I don't agree with his point, but I think you could reframe is argument this way: most men are inherently attracted to women, and as such, will look at (albeit not stare) attractive women. On the other hand, I'm curious to see what he means by "sexually suggestive". Revealing clothing is the norm at the gym, largely for utility. A guy in tank top and shorts is not far off from a woman in a sports bra and shorts, both of which I'd deem as acceptable attire.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
