Thanks a lot man. I think this is the core of it: it seems you either have to be the leader of the interactions or you feel an outsider. You have a real need to set the tone and you don't feel comfortable trying to fit in to a social hierarchy where you're not at the top. In all I do I feel I have to not only be the leader, but also be the best. And if I'm not, I feel deflated. What kind of "real" history do you teach her that differs from what is taught in school? I was never a history buff so I very well may of been mislead in school without even knowing.

Completely agree. Decrying supportive male friends sounds more like an attempt at pseudo-masculinity rather than an objective view on the best way to achieve results. I find there are very few things that are new in the blogging sphere of self-improvement and that guys are more so looking for a person to connect with rather than raw information. There are a thousand and one people making huge writups on self-improvement, but not many making personal videos that aren't just them babbling about their day. Supply and demand.
