Plus $2.50 an hour x 40 hours is 100 bucks a week or just over 5k a year. That didn't get you very far even back in the 70's. My Dad (now 80) told me his goal in life back in 1962 was to make $10,000 a year. He broguh in about $4,000 per year which equates to abour $2.00/hr and things were tight as hell for he and my Mom.
