How many kids do you have? How old? Custody? I'm guessing you will eventually wind up in a blended family. It's not like there aren't a lot of women out there who have been through similar crap.

This experience was pretty typical. You were kids who were still growing up and fortunately were conscientious about birth control, now you know who you are much better. She will probably come back with the oh-my-God-I've-made-a-terrible-mistake-can-we-try-again thing in a few years, but that's not usually a good idea.

Cool, you got off very cheap. No kids, few shared assets, some hard life lessons, time to move on. Women in the dating pool don't necessarily mind that you got your starter marriage out of the way.

You need to make sure you're legally separated starting today.

This is not new. It is reminiscent of Zsa Zsa Gabor, a semifamous actress of the 1950s who then embarked on a second career she described as a "housekeeper", because "every time I get divorced, I keep the house." She married nine times, mostly lawyers and old money.

"People like her are miserable at their core and don't know how to fix themselves. They expect others to make/keep them happy, which is impossible. When the happiness fades, they look through their past with rose-tinted glasses, remembering the last time they were happy and attempt to return to that state in life." Very well put, thank you. A lot of marriages end that way.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
