23000 euro sounds like a year's salary. In a case of a false criminal accusation - in which the state is a perpetrator - a more appropriate sum would be a year's tax revenue.

Exactly. Had the study only considered rights, Saudi Arabia would have scored strongly in favour of men, but when responsibilities - of which coverture laws relieve married women - are also considered, Saudi Arabia scores close to equal.

Reddit doesn't allow awards in quarantined subs, but provided that you're awarding from coins you already have (so that you're not giving more money to reddit), you can choose any other post/comment in a non-quarantined sub from the poster's history as a proxy to receive the award.

I already suggested something similar to this for gold awards, which are actually blocked in quarantined subs, but it looks like we could also start doing this for upvotes on posts and comments: If you see a post or comment for which the poster deserves karma, but you suspect that the admins don't want you to upvote it, find something else in the poster's history and upvote that instead - I'm not sure if upvoting directly from the history page gives karma, so you might need to navigate to the po…

Without the "book thrown at you if you fuck up again" part, probation is more accurately called "unconditional discharge" (in the UK - the US might have a different legal technical term for not being punished at all when found guilty) - and that's what we should call it if we want to compare sentencing differences between the sexes more accurately.

When you can be sent to jail for not possessing the product, this is the amount of market freedom that should exist: Government Official: You will cover the customer for risk X. The customer owes you Y (insert currency). Insurance Company Official: No! Fuck off! This customer is male and therefore higher risk. Government Official: Your license to sell insurance is retroactively revoked. 10 years jail for every policy you sold, to be served consecutively.
