I consider myself the resident ex male prostitute (I pop up from time to time in that capacity) so if you think there is someway I can help, I'll surely try. Keep in mind I'm a lifetime past that now. I'm happily married with a comfortable life, complete with all the social and professional roots that comes with middle class success, so I have no intention of ever discussing this without the anonymity I have here. I'm at your service... Call on me with whatever you need.

have you heard of the suit being pressed against the dutch government to allow sex-workers to avail of pension rights aimed at sports players? I have not. It seems a little odd to me because sex workers here aren't taxed. I'd have to read up on it, but it seems reasonable given that prostitution is such a key part of their culture (from an outsider view anyway - I will admit I know very little about the Netherlands.) and why the hell should millionaire soccer players get that benefit and no one …

Is treating it as a legitimate occupation the same as encouraging it? Yes and I don't think it should be treated that way. Sex work is a job, not a career but the problem is it's a little too easy to get sucked in. Reintegration into society is tough, and gets tougher the longer you do it. Is it ever going to be acceptable to put sex worker on your resume? Probably not, but I don't see that as a bad thing. I don't think anyone becomes a sex worker without being a little off regardless of whether…

Is this representative of your experience? Not at all, I would describe it as you had... Non-abusive but psychologically draining although you don't realise how much at first (in my experience it didn't kick in until about the 15 month point.) Here's a pretty good overview I wrote a while ago (sorry the hyperlink trick isn't working) http://www.reddit.com/r/MensRights/comments/1my3yd/prostitutes_say_they_enjoy_their_lives/cce29t9 I found the clients quite respectful, and we did have some powerfu…

I'm not sure that the protagonist being a woman has much to do with that Men don't tend to sacrifice themselves for other, less competent men. My wife and I were horrified. Both of us agreed she should've been left floating in space. Edit: The fact is the leads weren't swapped and if that's not an insidious affirmation of male disposability, I don't know what is.

SPOILER GRAVITY How about gravity? Useless woman gets almost everyone killed because she can't follow orders and crumbles under the slightest pressure THEN the professional and skilled man risks his life rescuing her time and time again until he finally sacrifices himself for her panicky, useless ass.

Hi there SweetieKat, So just for the record, I'd like to point out that the lovely SweetieKat is one of the more prominent man haters over at our fine sister sub againstmensrights. I'm not sure I'd be taking advice on men's issues from a bigot who thinks you're a privileged enforcer of the rape culture. SweetieKat hates you... Know that.

I'm not afraid to show weakness of any kind I'm pretty fearless these days, but I understand that showing weakness is a bad idea unless you're in the safety of your own home. It's not about caring what people think... Showing weakness at the wrong time gets you dead... Literally. I'm not being at all hyperbolic. If you've never experienced life in a place where that's true then you're pretty lucky. Fact is though there are some despicable human beings out there that are just looking for victims …

Oops... Guess I missed it because frankly, it's not a completely unreasonable statement. Once I was cleared of that pesky "my life is fucked" thing I shook it off. I was out cold at the time, so didn't experience the act so it didn't really affect me. Date rape is nowhere near the worst thing that can happen to you. To be honest I was pretty dumb and made a rookie mistake someone in my position shouldn't have. I was really very lucky I didn't wake up handcuffed to a radiator in a basement somewh…

I find some rape jokes hilarious. My favourite is "9 out of 10 people enjoy gang rape". Such a simple gag but it never fails to get a smile out of me. Oh and yeah I've been raped. Repeatedly in fact.

the painful narratives of abused men and boys You mean like this? I'd never tell anyone to man up and I just wish people would show me the same courtesy by not treating me like a broken man, consumed by anger and pain, in dire need of help.

I gotta agree. I don't need to get in touch with my feminine side. I cry if I feel the need, I drink cocktails, hell I even really liked the hunger games. But I'm stoic. Stoic as fuck. I'm the pillar of strength for people around me. I'm the man who's presence screams "don't fuck with us" and I enjoy being this. Sounds like new accounts get flagged. Here's what you do Create an account today and sit on it.... Build it organically, add your friends and random women (people do accept random friend requests) and make it look normal. The sex industry has not been more brutal than the restaurant industry. This I'd have to agree with provided you get out before the burn out hits. I think that's an important point and helps to mitigate the stigma. I don't think prostitution should ever be seen as a legitimate career choice. It's legal here and that's great, because regulation helps workers but it takes its toll. Let's face it as hard as the restaurant industry is, you don't wake up in fear due to it. Spoiler alert... surely there has to be a difference how different PEOPLE perceive forced sex FTFY. And I'm pretty sure I agreed on this point. I could highlight why but I doubt it would matter. I suspect that's the kind of rape she was writing about, knowing that she's a feminist To be honest I'm don't know what she wrote that you're referring to. I can be stealth without doing sex work. I never said I did sex. My mistake I thought I was getting an answer from OP as this was who my question was posed to. Given that you're not op (and therefore not a sex worker) your answer has no value to me. Bullshit, hips are as varied as breast size, from people to people. Sure, there is a "male typical" and a "female typical" pattern, but that's good for biology books, not for reality or dating, where you face individuals, not stereotypes. I like how …

If you had surgery, it's easy to be stealth Funny you should say that, because actually it's not. You see male hips don't fit together as nicely as male and female... Surgery tends to miss that. It's not something that's easy to explain (like privilege ha ha ha), but something that is hugely noticeable in the moment. Maybe not by all men, but certainly some are going to notice. Now if they knew beforehand it's not a real issue, but some men are going to get pretty upset if they realise that late…

While it seems benign enough, the paradigm of enthusiastic consent is one I find extremely dangerous. Like EatsTinyBabies I quite often have sex out of duty, but that isn't issue. The problem with enthusiastic consent is that it has no clear line, and can be reinterpreted after the fact. What if it's lost for a moment (due to a clumsy, painful act)? Is that moment of refusal enough to prove rape? Also I question the ability of a novice to be able to properly define "enthusiastic" for any given i…

A prostitute does not consent to sex with anyone who offers them money. They have the right to choose. If they don't consent it is rape. Because "violence against women" as a concept only exists if you don't care about men. Violence is committed against people. Some of them happen to be women but most of them are actually men, which is pretty much ignored until they die. In this case a man is told he shouldn't have retaliated. if a man does die, and it's at the hands of a woman then they were probably abusers who deserved it. As I said, the difference is tact. I guess women think they don't require any. I would say if a woman says this to you, you should reply with something along the lines of "I don't think I want to meet someone who clearly lacks basic social graces." Edit: fixing some bizarre formatting.

that is like someone saying I am supporting less domestic violence services for women unless I explicitly outline... It isn't really as it still (as shown in my initial post) frames abuse as a male only problem.

By refusing to mention that men and women can be abusers they are, by default, agreeing with the generally accepted cultural narrative. Ergo... Painting men as the majority of abusers.

It's true, but there's no effort to dispel the notion that assailants, whether they are known or unknown, are predominantly male.

I could never do it myself, even with a gun pointed to my head, it's just not physically possible for me to rape someone, i would just emotionally shut down and be unable to do anything because I abhor violence. The elephant in the room here is child sexual abuse and the statistics speak for themselves. Almost 90 per cent of victims know their assailant; the danger rarely comes from a stranger...You don’t need to be a psychologist to see the social hostility that meets these actions might breed a wariness of men in girls and an anxiety in boys. Still paints men as the majority of abusers (if not all abusers) though, even if it's artfully covert in doing so.

I call it "redding out". The few seconds that follow someone attacking you are an amazing blur of focused rage. You have no conscious control over that time but take precisely the correct actions to overcome your attacker. When you regain conscious control, you can feel your rage subsiding as you're looking at your subdued opponent. It's like whatever took over wants to let you make the decision whether to kill them or not. For me it sometimes takes days to be able to understand exactly what act…

It doesn't matter what people believe, you're the only person that matters (and of course your wife) I think I've done very well it getting past everything so if you need to ask anything. I'm not sure what you mean when you say you need direction. We'll never stop rape; like any other crime but maybe we can minimize it. Problem is we're not trying. I actually think they just don't see it. So often you hear the line "men aren't scared of being raped every time they leave the house" which is true, but we are prepared for the chance of being randomly assaulted. I got over fear a long time ago, but I doubt that's universal amongst men. The world is a dangerous and uncaring place, and I imagine tougher laws offer very little comfort in the final terrifying moments of those who fall victim to its perils

It doesn't sound like what they meant. It's a rage point for me, given I was raped as a kid, luckily when a woman who hasn't experienced sexual assault barks 1 in 4 bullshit at me, "I've actually been raped" shuts them down pretty quickly.

You're more right, but there's a bit more. When women cum they lose their shit a little. I remember one fuck buddy I had we would play chess between fucking. I think there are a couple of "biological" reasons for it. Firstly l think it has something to do with the need to procreate. It's all animal's biological imperative so I think it is reasonable to at least consider that partaking in heterosexual sex (or not) could have unidentified psychological ramifications. When I started working I did go just men for a couple of months. I was pretty sick of women and was never big on sex anyway, so between work, a couple of workplace flings and occasionally …

Exactly. and I don't see why the MRA should act in good faith. I would personally advise we stand WITH pro-lifers until feminists make a genuine effort to help us address reproductive inequality. It doesn't affect pro-life women. Personally I think if more women had to face the reality that men face i.e consent to sex is consent to parenthood, we would find a way for both sexes to have reproductive rights a lot quicker.

My friend, I think you misunderstand my intent. I'm not trying to save, empower or help anyone (unless explaining your post's reception is helping). I would agree that one should not coddle those with addictions (I certainly don't believe unhealthy lifestyles should be embraced and celebrated) and as for being an asshole, I know a little about that too. The thing is, before I wrote, I read the original message. You weren't taking a tough love "I'm not coddling" approach. You were mocking an over…

Sorry man but someone has to say it. You're an asshole. Your little rant was tasteless and showed you as a person with limited perspective and even less empathy. I'm not going to waste time explaining why I feel that way. You're entitled to your opinion, as someone else is entitled to react to it in whatever way they see fit. I doubt anyone here is going to stand up for you. Being called out for being a prick is not a mens rights issue.

Can someone explain to me how 4.6% of students are sexually assaulted every year but that number becomes 25% over a whole degree? I mean 4.6 every year over 5 years is still 4.6 and not 23... Right?

You got downvoted, because your essay is unpalatable but you are absolutely right. It's something Paul Elam talks about. A man bomb he calls it, but one thing you are not quite right about is who it will be. Talking to the MRM about this is futile. The MRM is a non-violent movement whose very existence is the only hope humanity has of avoiding the future you fear. The MRM is fighting tirelessly to avoid this future, and it is really up to society to listen and feminism to stop trying to take mor…

When I think about a slap to the face would have brought attention to you and may have got you arrested. If you assessed the situation and decided the descreet, deniable way was the best option then that's your right. She should never have touched you and I'm sure she'll remember those few days any time she wants to get violent in the future.
/r/MensRights10/03/13 11:08 PM

I don't know if I'd go for the Achilles heel like that (did you know about the abortion?), a hard slap across the face would've sufficed. That said, you had every right to retaliate how you saw fit. You shouldn't go around hitting people if you've just had a medical procedure.
/r/MensRights10/03/13 10:55 PM

Oh so you weren't being literal about the rubbing nose in shit thing. You never know some times. It pisses me off though how this sub seems to take a white knight stance on retaliatory violence against women, as if those who deem it acceptable really enjoy the thought of it. No one really likes physical confrontation but this is a cruel unforgiving world and you can't give it a fucking inch. So if any, and I mean ANY adult lays a finger on you they should feel lucky if it's not broken.

I think a light(ish) slap may have been appropriate. Fuck size, relationship or gender. A person hits you, you give them something to remember next time they consider it. When it's a woman it's called gender egalitarianism. Boys get taught in school that hitting someone gets you hit back. If we're teaching men not to rape we should be teaching women not to hit. I have no issue with them learning the same way we did. A decent partner would realise she deserved it. If it happens again you don't st…

The argument specifically applies to the dymanic between women and men. Yes men absolutely value themselves over other males in the race for procreation but in that we tend to value ourselves as less than women especially our partners. This is highlighted in social phenomena such as white knighting (especially when the defence of a woman puts us in direct physical danger to another man). The white feather movement is also a situation where men valued their own existence less than the opinion of …

It's funny you say that because I've heard people that create female characters in mmorpgs "because if they're staring at an someone's ass, they want it to be a sexy female. Personally I don't get the concept. Interesting though, why don't you like playing women overall? Is it just the whole scantily clad thing or is there more? And what about if there's a choice (e.g skyrim, fallout, mass effect) would you be more likely to choose to go female?

Let this be known. I DON'T WANT TO PLAY A WOMAN! Maybe it's misogyny, maybe it's because being a male I don't feel that controlling a woman offers me the same level of immersion, but whatever. I don't get into it. Now I am a young professional male, with all three systems and a substantial gaming budget. If your game has a female protagonist I WON'T BUY IT. My money, my choice. So game companies here's your choice. Play to your primary market or be more "inclusive". Make your choice.

We get all this crap, every goddamn day about "Why do you hate feminists" and "why don't you work with feminists" and every day they are met with considered well thought out responses of exactly why we view feminism as the enemy and why we don't work with them, which seem to fall on deaf ears regardless of how pervasive the arguments are. The issue is, we allow feminists to come here and ask these question when we are not offered the same courtesy by the feminist sub reddits. Why the hell should…
/r/MensRights27/02/13 09:46 PM
2

Can we please start implementing a "top level comment" rule. I'm really getting sick of this shit. Seriously why are we extending a courtesy to people who do not extend the same to us? I grew up with a very clear ideal of "respect those who respect you." If we are not getting any respect from feminist reddits, we should match their behaviour until which point it changes.

It's funny because I'm the cook in my relationship, my wife can hardly cook at all (and that's being nice). I tend to make "what I wanna" for dinner. Like one time I just decided to make Spanish tapas, just because. I'm not so good with deserts though.
