I have the antibody factor that causes chronic arthritis. I was in chronic pain for months until it went into remission. Basically you would change your training routine up to make sure your muscles didn't "get comfortable". That way you would strain them more and they would grow more, at least in size. I didn't notice a lot of strength gains doing this, but I got a lot bigger.
