The best I can tell is that it is a legal document that is supposed to protect your assets in case of a divorce, but they aren't worth shit in a actual divorce because a judge can still override it and give her your stuff.

Can confirm. I grew up in a similar situation, found a hobby just listened to the conversations around me to learn social cues and felt my way through conversations until I felt comfortable with talking to people. I still know most of the people I met and now play dnd with them every week.
