Get ready for that bachelor pad. If your entire concept of love is built around jealousy, you either need to work shit out or give up on it.
/r/PurplePillDebate21/07/24 02:36 AM

I'm doubly confused: first, how are you going to build a cabin for $1500? Second, if you had a cabin you'd only go there twice?

From a guy who's an outlier who did really well with fellow attractive outliers: fully agreed!

I'm not dismissing that there are dudes with similar experience, however, I do think that dudes with similar experience who get into particular ideologies get much, much louder. This leads to only the worst of the worst experiences and only through one lens completely dominating a conversation purely through the fact that they have an organized ideology.

Very post-strucuralist take! You'd like Roland Barthes and Simone de Beauvoir.

Alternate explanation: there is a terminally online circlejerk that will barrage any subject that gives them an opening to rant, and the mods don't want want to be overrun by said circlejerk.

Most aren't hopeless by any means. Approaching it like a new business makes sense to me. You're really fucking good at house painting. People who are good at building nuclear subs make more money. Do you A: optimize a house painting business, B: drop everything and start learning how nuclear subs work, or C: get pissed that you'll never make as much as a nuclear sub builder, theorize about it, and never paint a house.
/r/PurplePillDebate01/06/23 07:16 PM

5'8" and unconventionally attractive treated me really well.
/r/PurplePillDebate31/05/23 05:38 PM

No, but you can be an ad model.
/r/PurplePillDebate31/05/23 05:33 PM

Birmingham is awful, Mobile is worse. I've heard a few of their college towns are okay-ish, but their cities fucking suck.
/r/PurplePillDebate15/05/23 07:55 PM

You'd have to go insanely high, like we'll into triple digits. Even then, it'd be less about the fact that they'd fucked so much, more about why they didn't spend their time doing something more useful.
/r/PurplePillDebate11/05/23 07:07 PM

Thank you!
/r/PurplePillDebate11/05/23 06:53 PM

I do! Baby on the way too.
/r/PurplePillDebate11/05/23 06:39 PM

I'm not much of a gambler, but I think you might want to double check on that (if you're in the US). Pretty sure it'd qualify as "other income" and is a great way to get audited.
/r/PurplePillDebate10/05/23 04:34 PM

I thought Canada's laws were very sensible. Handguns are very difficult to get and you can't have them on you. Semi auto rifles aren't terribly difficult to get but are capped at 5 round magazines. Bolt actions and shotguns are easy to get. Very comprehensive screening, very strict red flags.
/r/PurplePillDebate09/05/23 06:49 PM

I don't think that's a very good read of the quote, tbh. But I honestly know nothing about her. The way I read it is "date around with whomever you want, even against your better judgement. But, at the end of the day, you want someone who looks at you as equal". It's more of a "be impulsive and make mistakes, but dont let them define you, because finding your match is what's important" type thing.
/r/PurplePillDebate05/05/23 07:43 PM

Isn't this just saying that everyone fucks? "Fuck around and see what you like", seems like the lesson. I see absolutely nothing wrong with that.
/r/PurplePillDebate05/05/23 07:17 PM

I don't see what's wrong with this at all.
/r/PurplePillDebate05/05/23 07:12 PM

Fully agree. Basically all of the men I've seen pictures of on here look totally fine, as in, I know a lot worse looking men who don't have their problems. I think a big part is some men being disillusioned that social interactions aren't at all logical. They try to look as good as possible and get a better job, because obvious a+b=c, then ignore how important "vibing" is because its not quanitifable. Then, get frustrated and say fuck the game entirely.
/r/PurplePillDebate05/05/23 06:08 PM

If you don't live in Hyde Park, it gets annoying really quickly. But, good luck nonetheless!

I look like a rich American, spent a lot of time in Colombia. Medellin feels about as sketchy as Phoenix. Never got robbed there, but did get pickpocketed by a gang of very passable trans women!
/r/PurplePillDebate01/05/23 03:37 PM

I didn't. You seemed to imply that there were some "amazing" hobbies like they were some obscure thing that nobody did.
/r/PurplePillDebate29/04/23 08:15 PM
4

Not who you were responding to: but you really can't think of any other hobbies that might be more attractive?
/r/PurplePillDebate29/04/23 08:11 PM

To be fair, you can still buy all of those things...
/r/PurplePillDebate03/04/23 07:39 PM

3 is dumb, you're not objectively a good match if you don't have chemistry. You can have good friends that are attractive, sometimes you even run into those wherein you're perfect on paper. But if you're not both trying to fuck each other's brains out after the first few dates, that's not chemistry.
/r/PurplePillDebate31/03/23 12:16 AM

I'm sure that'll work out as well as the rest of the few million of you. Good luck!

Yet I was able to sleep with all of them regardless... and respectfully so. I had a few encounters wherein someone seemed to have nothing in common with me but like the idea of the lifestyle I could afford, but again, you'd be an idiot to not sniff out someone you share nothing with beyond a life you could attain and they'd like to.
/r/PurplePillDebate24/03/23 09:40 PM
2

As a guy who was exceptionally slutty and make very good money, I have never once found myself in a relationship with someone like this. I've encountered a few people I had very little chemistry with who seemed to be very interested in how much I made, but you'd be an idiot to not be able to sniff them out.
/r/PurplePillDebate24/03/23 09:10 PM

It's so absurd. You can say "people generally like to date people who look good and have their shit together" and the response is "so male models and millionaires only?! Black pull beta buxx theories confirmed!!!!"
/r/PurplePillDebate24/03/23 08:08 PM

That's on the more approachable than I was expecting! I have a friend who is deeply into the free jazz scene and I am unashamed to say I don't get the vast majority of it.

First off, you can sue anyone for anything, so it's not a great metric. But: if you got drunk alone at home and went shopping online, you wouldn't stand a chance of winning. However, if they were to actively get you drunk, they would stand a chance of winning. If they were to be demonstrated to have specifically gotten you drunk in order to sell you something: hell yes, they'd be fucked.
/r/PurplePillDebate21/02/23 08:54 PM

Fun fact: the guy who's up in trees/hanging around playing guitar is Jonathan Richman of the 70s band The Modern Lovers.
/r/PurplePillDebate12/02/23 02:06 AM

Women have very different relationships with their genitals. For us, discussing sperm and eggs = cum inside someone, very cool. For women, this thing that sometimes feels great then sometimes bleeds and ruins my day if used properly will result in a weird slimey tiny person tearing me open. Not to mention, sperm donation is whacking into a cup. Egg donation is months of hormone treatments that make you feel like shit then an invasive collection procedure.

Both chickens and cows. Their wild counterparts are very mean, and if either of our domestic versions got the idea to look up to their closest relatives we would eat a hell of a lot less meat.

Clingers are rough. I had someone show up to my work after I failed to respond to 20 texts/calls/snaps in a 2 hour timeframe... after two dates. I cut off contact but she insisted upon breaking up with me 5 times via text over the next week.

When i moved to Vancouver, the first shock that I had was seeing someone exactly my type standing in the middle of the street and realizing she was directing traffic for construction.

Lol. My gf is half Senegalese and gets pegged as such whenever we are in neighborhoods with large amounts of African diaspora. Senegal and Ethiopia have a reputation for being very hot. Montreal in particular, but large Canadian cities in general seem to be exceptionally attractive. As far as why, I have an idea or two but they're purely speculative and very much based on my type.

"Not worrying" is just being confident. I know it's just a weird truism at this point, but talking to someone who doesn't follow every fucking thing with "I don't know for certain!!!! Maybe!!!!" IS very refreshing to me, and I suspect most people.

Have more conversations in person. People whose social life exists mostly online are generally uncivil, in my experience. In addition, the mode of argument is very different when you are face to face as opposed to two parties deeply entrenched in different sides of the internet with no real stakes.
/r/PurplePillDebate13/01/23 12:43 AM

I want to think harder about names, mostly. Also just generally think about risks that are sex specific.

Needing a bang maid means not being able to take care of anything on your own, expecting both day-to-day tasks and sex to be constantly served up on a platter.
/r/PurplePillDebate12/01/23 12:52 AM

Tinned fish is great. It's very funny seeing it spread around as fancy, date-worthy food.
/r/PurplePillDebate12/01/23 12:45 AM

Do they just not want to know? We did every test under the sun, and are very on edge about results.
/r/PurplePillDebate12/01/23 12:43 AM

The results of the sex of my upcoming child are delayed and I'm going absolutely insane over it. I just want to know annnnnything about what I'm getting into!
/r/PurplePillDebate12/01/23 12:32 AM

Woof. I'm sorry you feel that way, but that may have to do with your experiences and should hr accepted as such instead of making broad assumptions about women and their sex drives.
/r/PurplePillDebate11/01/23 10:38 PM

It's not selfishness, it's self-obsession. You're not withholding from anyone else (being selfish) if you do nothing but do you for you. Self obsession works really well to a degree, until you need outside input, healthy outside input usually requires consessions to be made. If you don't know how to get healthy outside input, you'll always be an island, hoping to convince someone to feed in with nothing in return (which will never last). All relationships come with concessions. Good relationship…

You just can't help some people. My former roommate looked like a male model and always bitched about how women's expectations were unfair and that it was pointless to chase them, and even if that wasn't the case he could never meet a fellow nerd like himself... nerd meaning into MCU and indie music. Edit: this was in a very young and hip neighborhood in Chicago. If you refuse to go out, have terrible social skills, and are convinced you're screwed from the get-go, a big city won't help much.

I mean, there are a few organizations that push this stuff and have for decades. I live rather close to a Moorish Science Temple that has been there since the 50s. Think sovereign citizen meets Black nationionalist meets "slavery wasn't real and we are the true Native Americans".

I've only ever met one person irl who was into this, it was baffling. They also believed that global warming was caused by the earth's axis being off-kilter due to populations moving away from the equator, which was encouraged by the illuminati so that they could displace those who lived there and scoop up the land.

Wasn't upset by it, just learned from his mistakes! It took him a heart attack to start to figure out that work ethic at the cost of everything else wasn't a very practical model. Watching him try to unlearn it in his mid 60s is wild. Also, watching my brother unlearn it from looking up to our dad a little too closely has been interesting. As to the second part: kinda? Not earth shattering rich, but doing well.

I suppose i would be willing to wait to a degree, depending on if oral was on the table. Wait till marriage? God no. Wait even for commitment, also no. But saving something for a future date, sure. But, for reference, every serious relationship I've ever had started with a fairly pornographic first or second date.

This is a big fear I've seen among anyone dating budding tech savants. Broke couch guy in need of support suddenly jumps to upper middle class and wants to act like a millionaire to get the girls he never got in highschool/college. Quickly leaves behind the person who supported him.

I gotchu! My dad was pre-diabetic and obese. He quit drinking, started doing yoga 3 times a week, and stopped eating out unless for occasions. He'd basically grill a steak and make a salad every night. 4 years later he's underweight.

Putting more effort and attention into cooking and portioning worked wonders for my father. Taking the act of making dinner very seriously, knowing exactly what is in every meal, and for what length of time you're making it for (dinner plus 2 lunches and a frozen portion, etc). Changing your relationship to food seems to do a lot more than getting into a relationship with different food.

What sort of diet? Highly restrictive diets tend to fail, finding the balance between what you want and what you need (with the goal of that being something you can long-term live with) is the key.

Only in an abstract sense: extreme unwillingness or inability to view things as even mildly grey. Very locked into black and white thought patterns, which I very much associate with both military and police. With the exception, of course, of those who get high enough in rank where that is no longer tenable.

I've been very open about my enjoyment of porn with every relationship I've ever had; it's never been a problem. I can see how it'd be a problem if you prefer porn to, you know, actually having sex with your partner... But other than that it's only an issue for hardcore moralists and wannabe hardcore moralists.

A healthy amount of risk taking. I've gotten better about it, but most of my life has been periods of extremes between highly careful and risky as fuck. It's treated me well, but I think it'd generally be healthier to have the balance on a situational level than a periodic one.

Related to this and I think your question from a few days ago: late 20s/early 30s are the best for dating, because all of those "if only she were ever single" holy grail types suddenly have their long term relationships or young marriages fail.

To be fair, as someone who was very slutty in large cities, thatnis exactly how all relationships have started for me post-highschool. Most of my friends in relationships had theirs start the same way. Not to say other models don't exist, but this model is very common.

I think you misinterpreted what I was saying. Your problem is that you think that there is no woman capable of loving you. Why would anyone in their right mind involve themselves with someone that was unconditionally set on the idea that they were fucking over someone else? You're pre-selecting for psychopaths.

Men definitely want to make sense of what it means to objective. Part of this is being objectified in the right and wrong contexts. It doesn't take much experience to know how many things getting your dick grabbed can mean. But, if you're stuck in the "I thought this was bad?!" mentality, you won't get very far.

Story time: A few years ago I was given a phone number at work, went on a very promising date. You come across as exceptionally fixated and bitter. Chances are, they may not be into you enough to be sold. In crude terms: instead of selling yourself to seal any deal, you're getting pissed enough to describe them as an existential threat that needs to be eliminated...

Which I imagine we will do... but not without groaning. Neither of us see absolutely any internal value in marriage, but might do it eventually anyway but only because there is a financial incentive as well as fewer hiccups that shouldnt even exist (hospital visitation and flying with children being the foremost of these). I resent the entire purpose for us being those that are purely bureaucratic.

There are certainly tax breaks in the US. Joint filing would save us a couple grand a year.
/r/PurplePillDebate09/12/22 11:35 PM

I mean, who knows what'll happen as far as whether you'll stick together. But really what does a marriage do beyond pure symbolism? We are wild about each other and have a shared bank account. If the entire point is raising the barrier to exit, doesn't that mean that marriage becomes less proportionately necessary as relationship quality increases?
/r/PurplePillDebate09/12/22 11:34 PM

Never understood the moral argument for getting married to have kids. My gf and I have no intention to marry, our first on the way, and the only thing that points us toward it is tax breaks and how shitty it'd be to run into admin problems for not having the same last name.

Yes! There's a conceptual framework of what is going on, but in practice not only falls flat, but is entirely off the mark in both projects I've worked on. We designated it "pragmatic misunderstanding" because the human input is largely at fault for why the logic fails. However, if you need to train people how to speak with AI on a mass scale it doesn't really stand as a viable product.
/r/PurplePillDebate07/12/22 11:09 PM

I agree that contemporary AI has nothing to do with human intelligence. I've worked on two AI problems for work, and one of the big unsolved hurdles we ran into was its lack of what we called "pragmatic misunderstanding". The product was AI assisted wine recommendations. The initial version sucked, I was brought on and did a big ol series of interviews with varying levels of sommeliers to understand and map the decision trees they use. Most wine pros will start with their own taste obviously, bu…

I think it'd depend on your social skills at that point. You sound fairly nihilistic in your general philosophy! Not saying this as a gotcha, just saying that acknowledging that the world being terrible and scary + finding pleasure in things doesn't mean that the world is essentially meaningful, just that you're good at navigating a meaningless world. I'd say the same about myself, and the positive/pragmatic traits also apply. But at the end of the day, I'd still call myself a nihilist.
/r/PurplePillDebate02/12/22 10:12 PM
2

I agree with your premise but not your conclusion! Helping yourself is definitely part of it, but the world is hard, and for various reasons men don't like to talk about it until they hit rock bottom. Normalizing the support structure of talking about it is a key issue, as it's a lot easier to navigate existential issues when you at very least have other people to bounce ideas off of.

/r/PurplePillDebate01/12/22 07:13 PM

I'd agree with that. Then, filthy rich is when your active income was always a pet-project for the sake of having something to do, because your passive income is more than you could make while working.
/r/PurplePillDebate01/12/22 07:07 PM

Things get a lot comfier after 100k, but I'd agree 150 is when it gets cushy. Rich really depends, asset rich, generational asset rich, and windfall levels of cash rich all look pretty different.

Yes, but the problem lies in that SNRIs are too, as is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. It's a very broad stroke approach when all you know is that "changing amounts of at least two neurotransmitters with a phenethylamine group will probably make things better". The cause of depression is obviously very much in its infancy, what I was saying is that the treatment is also very imprecise.
/r/PurplePillDebate30/11/22 11:12 PM
1

Which has been suspected for quite a while, as far as I understand. Hence SSRIs only showing positive results for a very small amount of people diagnosed as depressed, but showing fantastic results in those few. The chemical imbalance theory is a really big, crude mallet being used in a very nuanced set of problems that all have different precision requirements.

Your first mistake is to assume the men are fighting for a "feminist cause". That may have been kinda-sorta how it started, but this is an anti-theocratic movement. It's not shocked that women started it, as their stakes are higher. But to say that anyone who dies in Iran is sacrificing themselves at the altar of feminism is either lacking context or disingenuous.

Hard to say that we do exactly that at the same time. The US generally targets, for better or worse and often with a disgustingly wide scope. Very well put. The vast majority of men who find themselves painted into corners are there because they want the entirety of social interaction to be a rational system. Sexual attraction isn't rational, interpersonal interaction is rarely rational, and frankly when you involve any amount of "feelings" (which, you can not help but involve, and if you think you can, you're deluded)... you can not expect a perfectly rational outcome. To approach the problem as one of pure reason is very dumb.

I don't think blue pill solutions are the problem exclusively. Red pill swings so far in such a reactionary way that it exudes you even more. Trying to find simple fix-all solutions (PUAs) was replaced by a handful of truisms cloaking sexism (redpill) which is combatted only by terrible advice on how to be a pushover (pure bluepill). None of the options presented solve much besides internal arguments, in my opinion. All of the nameable camps do nothing more than satisfy internal arguments with z…

Definitely overthinking it. That's not to say that you shouldn't think about how you spend your time, it'd be stupid not to. But, it's just as stupid to disengage with things that you enjoy just because you don't see yourself as the type of person to enjoy them. Forced fun is terrible, forced seriousness is terrible. Experiment responsibly, then take the desire paths.
/r/PurplePillDebate31/10/22 01:24 AM

The thing is, it only feels shitty when yiu think about it in terms of a split reality. You think of yourself in x way, so y activity doesn't make sense; y activity feels good, so x doesn't make sense. Get rid of the ideological trappings that tell you what should be fun according to what you think about yourself, and you'll probably have more fun while also getting a better understanding of who you are.

Talmud isn't very different from the way you described the Old Testament in its function: it's a secondary text used to inform interpretations of primary texts. Though, it is also not binding. In temple school, it's used more as a pedagogical tool in a comparative lit way more than anything.
/r/PurplePillDebate28/10/22 05:03 AM
1

My argument isn't solely that nobody follows religious texts (thought I think that is mostly true as well). What the Old Testament and the Talmud claim to do within their respective histories is entirely different. The Old Testament is the ignored word of god (which is interesting for historical purposes, but isn't really relevant as the word). The Talmud is past interpretations of the law. There is no illusion that it is the word of god, it is simply a faux documentary of conversations between …

From my experience in a Catholic school, most is just ignored. Temple school, the Talmud is never even begun to be perceived as the word of god. It is taught as a c…

I went to Catholic school for primary education but temple school on the weekend. Catholic school you get: this is what god says, and that's right. Here is what a few other people said about it. Temple school: so, gods word is interpreted by man and our interpretation is imperfect. But does that mean god's word is imperfect? No, because that means that we don't understand god, or, since we were made by god, perhaps we were not ksde to understand god. Thus, the interpretations of gods word have m…

It's more than wealth and influence, but also has nothing to do with moral character. I feel bad for Gen z not being able to experiment with drugs in a relatively safe manner. Not as much protein as it's weight in steak... as much protein as a steak. It's been a while, so I don't remember cut/weight shit, but it was absurdly protein-rich. You don't tip (unless you're in a touristy town, in which case you do), but there's almost always a "service fee", which is anywhere from 10-20%. That, combined with the lack of strange laws that give exceptions on what minimum hourly wages are (when I was a waiter, my hourly was about $3 and was eaten by taxes), and healthcare being provided by the state and not the employer: it's more of a guarantee of a living wage than the US, though mileage will vary depending on area.

This lacks any of the nuance that might make it useful. Are some attractive people only attractive because they make an effort to make up for a sense of inadequacy that they'll never really solve? Yes. Are some unattractive even more unattractive because they feel like their lives are written in stone, and thus fail to see the point in trying? Also yes. I think the real point is that how secure you are often has little to do with how attractive you are.

You have no good reason to think that she's cheating on you, and are on the right track in terms of labeling it anxiety/paranoia. Congrats on falling head over heels with someone! It's so lively and exciting but is very vulnerable. A lot of people struggle with the vulnerability, but trusting it is the only way to do it right. Blanket statements of "women laugh at men in therapy" in threads that are specifically geared toward women complaining about their love lives isn't good data though. If you're unfuckable than you're also undateable, and since they're insulting you, you can assume they think you're unlikeable in general and would prefer not to speak to you. It's less a demonstration of sex as currency, more a way of saying that you're meeting none of the criteria for any type of relationship -- sexual or not -- while also implying that they can't imagine a woman who'd feel differently.

No problem! It's a somewhat tough field to crack into ever since "UX" became a buzzword, but very worth it imo. There's a whole set of disciplines around it: UX is more or less non-specialist (how does one go from A to B), UI is more graphically oriented (how does one signify that x will take you from A to B), Information Architecture is categorization and navigation-issue oriented (what is the meaningful distinction between A and B and why), and HCI (how do we define what B is, assuming that A …

I get bogged down in this kind of stuff at work quite a bit. We'd assume convenient and polluting. Safer and dangerous are the same problem set, so lump them. My personal fav of the cheap regional foods is the bone-in porkchop sandwich. The good polish sausage spots sautee their onions with a porkchop underneath to flavor them. If you're in the know, they'll make a sandwich out of that porkchop and a pile of the onions and mustard.

I have a bit of a thing for regional hot dog styles. My tops are: Chicago (onion, mustard, pickle, tomato, celery salt, relish) Sonoran (beans, pico, pickled jalepeno, bacon, optional mustard/mayo) NY (sauerkraut, brown mustard, "onion sauce" which is really onions sauteed in something sweet with some sort of tomato product - often coca cola and tomato paste Medellin (bacon, french fries the size of matches or potato chips, quail eggs, pineapple sauce, optional mayo and avocado)

NY style is great too! They really seem to be less sanctimonious about their dogs. Though, as a Chicago resident I honestly eat more depression-style than anything. Though, I'd gotten work in the field just based on my more theoretical knowledge of it before the MS. My gf is a curator and critic. She did some shows that got good reviews, then got bigg…

My record is 7 rounds. They asked for an 8th and I told them that i would be upping my rate by 20k/year as the job seemed more demanding than was described... They promised the process would be done in just 2 more interviews.
/r/PurplePillDebate04/10/22 08:51 PM
1

Depends on how high up the chain of command you're meeting with. My 5th round interview was the top dog, then various coworkers just kind of talking shop. The conversation went well enough that I knew I had it. Last job, second round was less talking about experience, but more so problems you've encountered and your process for dealing with them. This was a heads-up that people had gotten frustrated and snapped at people before, and that work relations would be a major component of the job.

Huge leap of faith but then also a ton of resources. I knew one person who made it as an actress (like, made it to the degree that you've definitely heard of her), and she was moved to LA in her own apartment at a young age, had private tutors, and had a rather good manager from the get go.
/r/PurplePillDebate04/10/22 08:23 PM

Very different. Round one is often "do you know what you're talking about", round two is often "will we be able to stand each other". But, some industries round two is actually just more detailed repeat of round one, then round 3 or 4 will be "do we like each other".

Unpopular opinion: some subcultures need to be gatekept (but I dont think it has much to do with taste). Mainstream cultural stuff like GOT though, it's hard to care. It was made for a gigantic audience anyway, so a plurality of good and bad takes comes with the territory.

It's certainly a thing, and assuming you're talking about a pornstar saying that bit about not having a problem, A: you cant really feel it as a guy (with particular exceptions), B: theres a certain level of professionalism thatd be involved, limiting the feedback given, and C: it's kind of alarming that you're reading/watching interviews of male pornstars to try to get insight on the dating world.

Fear mostly, from what I've seen. After a certain point they get a level of validation that is less than getting a girlfriend, but a more guaranteed return than attempting to get a girlfriend. Then, they try to stack that small validation they get by complaining harder or trying to find a root cause. The kicker is that the deeper they go into complaining harder or finding a root cause makes them finding a girlfriend incrementally less likely. Rinse and repeat.

Cologne and clothes are only advisable if you actually care about them. It's a very uninteresting drain if you don't find a niche you think is fascinating for both categories. As far as the other way around, if you are applying then you are also looking. The power is negotiable, but at the end of the day most people would be looking for a mutually beneficial arrangement. The whole "why should I?" has nothing wrong with it at face value. If you don't want it, you shouldn't. If you want it, but don't want to move towards it, that's firmly a you problem.

The part about how some people take multiple yet some take none seems kind of obvious in the context of dudes that are virgins in their 20s+. Men tend to model themselves after a man's view of manliness. There are other types of men that women find desirable. The whole problem with the "chad" idea is that it assumes that there is one archetype. Kansas City snows too (though not a ton). 120 will work just fine. Take into consideration that you will absolutely need a car in LA, though. Also: choose a neighborhood wisely. LA is gigantic and commute times are a bitch. Coming from outside of the US, the tent city thing will likely be shocking, so be ready for that.

I don't live in either, but did spend some time in LA and have been to both the others. Columbus is pretty nice. Mid sized city, lots of college students, classic Midwestern friendliness. Cold and snowy winters, somewhat hot and humid summers. Not much else in the surrounding area. If I had to stay in the Midwest, but had to leave Chicago, I'd probably go there. Kansas city is on the smaller side and belongs to the "surprisingly kind of cool" category. They're putting a lot of money into making …

I think most of the hate comes with the armchair evolutionary psychology, self loathing, and pretty blatant misogyny. Though, I agree with you. It's generally the same shit in every self-help book of the past few decades. It's more a problem of the community of self-help that focuses on inter-sexual dynamics that is full of shit.

The point of "toxic masculinity" isnt that men are inherently toxic. It's a concept used to describe the loads of bullshit that men are fed from a young age, and also a description of the symptoms that follow taking that bullshit to heart and being unable to escape it. As a concept, it is extremely useful for men who want to talk about this stuff.

My least favorite: going to sleep early before a really big and busy day. Wake up early, check shit off the list, get it done relatively smoothly. Hit a hurdle, hurdle makes everything start to stack up and starts to fuck up the day. Work my ass off to clear the hurdle, breath a sigh of relief... then wake up. It happens semi regularly and it really sucks.

The dream is very important to this, for sure. The world is complex and doesnt make sense, which is frustrating. Religion offers that it should make sense, does make sense, an overarching mythology that tries to make sense of it, and a culture that relays interpretations of those mythologies so that it makes sense to you personally.

Opting out is a great social strategy when you cant personally change anything and cant compartmentalize, imo. Id love for politics to be beaurocracy that is so far removed from daily life that theres little point in caring unless it interests you (like most other niche, boring fields). It gets harder when proper right wing nutjobs start to be seriously entertained.

Facing scary shit is definitely a skill that should be learned, if your way is getting hit then so be it, I dont think it's very punch-specific though. Lots of ways to learn. Regarding unarmed combat, the closest I've ever been to a proper fight I just broke a bottle, threatened to stab the dude, and asked if he was stupid enough to stick around long enough for the cops to come haha

There are still so many after a brief search. The legal advice post was regarding whether or not you could sue your workplace after being fired for being in the paper for being in a hotel room with a large amount of prostitutes, a large amount of meth, and an even larger amount of meth being sold by one of the prostitutes to someone who ended up being a cop. 40 year old married professional with a whole lot of "who's up?!?!?!" posts with a dick pic.

No judgement whatsoever regarding blind spots, I never formally studied philosophy either. I was an art history guy in school, with a tendency for deep-dives and flirtations with adjacent subjects. As far as it regressing into solipsism, I disagree. More properly, it regresses into nihilism. From a phenomenological point of view, the existence of other minds is never really called into question, though whether or not you have any form of shared reality is. I agree that it fails to make any real …

I haven't really spent much time with Spinoza! When I say that, I mean I read Ethics quickly a decade ago. I'm by no means an expert on the subject. My problem with the panpsychist approach is a lack of accounting for the possibility that the panpsychist conception of mind is not transposed upon substance by the very act of a mind perceiving it. (i.e. mind is immanent of the material world, and what is perceived as mind is limited by mind, which is a sloppy way of saying: Wittgenstein) From a ph…

7 is average by surveyed standard, low by most standards. Calling 7 huge is insane to me, and apparently most other people.
/r/PurplePillDebate06/08/22 10:47 PM

/r/PurplePillDebate06/08/22 10:20 PM

I dont think its innately misogynistic as long as its consistent. If inconsistent (would you look down upon lower than you but higher than whatever arbitrary standard youd like?), then I wouldn't call it properly mysoginistic, just run of the mill sexist.

I grew up there, thankfully havent lived there since I was 17. It is such a pitiful excuse for a city. Also, I hate when people separate Scottsdale as if it is actually different. It's where completely average Midwesterners go to get plastic surgery, make upper middle class wages then act like they live in Beverly Hills and shit on people accordingly.
/r/PurplePillDebate04/08/22 05:04 PM

Which also helps explain the obsession with virginity. "You can't give it to me if you gave it to someone else! I'm only getting half!!"
/r/PurplePillDebate04/08/22 02:59 PM

I mean, it doesnt seem shocking at all that if you are short, fat, and bald that youd rank low. That sounds like a case of severely losing the genetic lottery. None of them seem like deal breakers as long as you dont have all three. All three, you better be charming as fuck.
/r/PurplePillDebate03/08/22 10:04 PM

Dude standards are the same, as far as I've seen. There are so many types of guys described as "hot" amongst women. Thinking it exclusively means 6' muscle man is a huge problem around here.

Sky Harbor in Phoenix sucks, as does Dallas Fort-Worth. And if we're talking international: San Salvador. pre-fab buildings with no signs, each with a line from the tarmac to the terminal. You have zero idea of whether or not you're in the right terminal until you get to the front of the line. Then, a guy with a machine gun yells at you and you go back outside to the other clusterfuck of lines surrounded by more guys with machine guns and hope the smell of gas doesn't stick to your clothes.

But the survey is to determine "most"! Not "most in a small college town". I'd say I got a better cross section.

Do they really, though? Most of my friends have some sort of type that they go for, regardless of whether or not it's a conscious choice. After commenting, I stood outside for about 10 minutes to see how many women I saw who'd get an absolute yes, to see roughly what percentage of women I'd be unquestionably down to sleep with. I live in a very dense neighborhood in a big city. I ended up thinking that 1 out of every 8 was in that category.

So then the only relevant information as to whether a guy qualifies as alpha is "hot as fuck"? Then can be amended as alpha-bucks if they're a provider? Just curious, I find the classification system to be silly.
/r/PurplePillDebate01/08/22 07:49 PM

I'm happy you spelled this out. As a guy who slept around a lot, often with women who slept around a lot, there seem to be a lot of people who misunderstand that casual sex isnt zero sum. Nobody is taking anything from anyone. Sometimes you want to get off, so you seek people who you can see yourself getting off with. If they can see themselves getting off with you too, you get off together. It's really that simple.

That seems like an awfully narrow definition. In this case, a true alpha would be a sub-sub-class of definitely shitty, but hot enough that women dont care how shitty they are. From there, it really looks like the AF/Bb dynamic is really just one of women learning how to spot shitty hot guys and then not fucking them. In which case, what's the problem?

I'd actually say Lurch is very good looking! He'd clean up at an average bar sans the monotone voice and slouch. Regarding the hair thing. It is certainly a thing in my experience. I'd say it's similar to being short though... it's a handicap if you are visibly insecure about it, and a lot of men are.
/r/PurplePillDebate22/07/22 09:06 PM
1

I think that has more to do with charisma really. Bald and tall you can be the rock or lurch. Average height with hair you can he tom cruise or (I'm actually having a hard time thinking of an equivalent). I have noticed a pattern of bald men getting uncomfortable whenever I confront them about something at work in a group setting. Not all, of course, the ones who happily shaved their head seem unaffected. But theres a contingent of men who get visually insecure about it.

Yes. In a functional way, at least. Though all practical ways are taken off the table as any sort of "who answers to who" hierarchy is broken. I can do 3 months of research and find elegant solutions, but if the guy who is paid to do what I say doesn't actually have to do what I say because his boss is different than my (nonexistent) boss and the only point of common accountability is 3 levels up at the VP level who won't bother talking to us anyway... nothing will ever get done.

Nowhere close to as messy as it sounds. We got together post divorce and their marriage was shitty. No advances were made while they were together, we just always got along well. My brother is only 3 years older than me, so pretty close. We see each other about every other week.

You're missing a major point: most of the incels I've encountered are so blatantly misogynist that I actively do not want them to have girlfriends. 20s I spent studying and living abroad and fucking up and figuring out what I wanted. 30s Ive refined what I wanted and took things more seriously in practical regards but less seriously in ideological ones. As far as why better... 33 is like 23, but more secure (personally, socially, financially). Not totally talentless, for sure. Where the line is drawn in terms of "talented enough to become famous" is rather arbitrary and value-based though. If you dont think hes insanely talented, I get the point of why someone so mediocre would get a pass on being a piece of shit. If you think he is very talented, I also get it and am equally guilty (Roman Polanski, Michael Jackson, Chuck Berry, etc)
/r/PurplePillDebate11/07/22 07:36 PM

Aren't you also falling for the same fallacy by assuming he is famous because he is talented, and then deserves to be famous because he is talented? Other side of the same coin.

A related rule for guys to live by: if you really do not want to sleep with someone, answer questions about what you're interested in by saying any version of "it's complicated", "it's boring", "you wouldn't care", "you wouldnt understand", etc.
/r/PurplePillDebate11/07/22 07:05 PM

Passion is a huge one. Being "interesting" in general is a great way to be good at conversation, and in my opinion being interesting is mostly being passionate about your interests and curious as to how they intersect with someone else's.

I honestly do not care at all unless it was done in a rather unhealthy way (i.e. sex addiction). Though, I was quite the slut myself in my 20s so obviously approach these things with a little more understanding than most.

California indeed would do a-okay. Some parts of the East Coast could probably do just fine. Vast amount of the country would be absolutely screwed. Mentioned in a separate comment that I currently live in Chicago, and that you occasionally hear from people out of the city but within the state that they're going to half-heartedly propose that they separate the city from the state. I cannot fathom how dumb you have to be to consider that to be a threat.
/r/PurplePillDebate06/07/22 09:38 PM

I respectfully have to say, any model that blames "elites" as a single group is very over-simplistic.

Living in Chicago, you occasionally hear half-hearted proposals to separate the city from the rest of Illinois. Everyone knows the rest of the state would be hopeless without us.

Totally, it'd be ice cold to the degree that it really seems like we might already seeing close to the extent of it. An important factor is also that the liberal centers are often the economic powerhouses of the area. Rural areas would stand no chance due to coming up against opponents with seemingly endless resources; cities would stand no chance due to having to control vast amounts of space. Everything is far too intertwined to make a proper civil war feasible for either party.

Charm takes people in general very far. My main point that I try to make on here is that there are an insane amount of ways to skin a cat, and that any theory that says "you must have x" inevitably falls flat in the face of this. Whether x is height, status, or facial features indicative of high testosterone, it always seems like such a grossly broad brush to paint human sexuality in.

Partially agree. I would say authenticity is certainly a factor because it implies a level of confidence (whether or not that is actually true). Being "about" something has an implicit consistency, as well as an implicit willingness to stand up to/face adversity. Whether or not the thing you are "about" is bullshit is another question. Whether or not it is bullshit that you are actually "about" it at all is another.

Really depends on the circles you run with, really. I had a funny conversation with an older guy in the fashion industry in LA a few weeks ago; he was relaying how you basically judged how cool something was by how bi the vibe was in the early 00s haha. If you live in the sticks though...

Even as a guy who is very much not a meathead, nerdy girls are the best. The term nerd I feel is used poorly most of the time. It's almost like simplified universal advice doesnt work universally! Go figure. Half the guys here seem so obsessed with being principled -- but principled only according to what other unhappy men think -- that they cannot accept that there are other models to be principled and also happy.

I have a lot of gay friends and hear a lot of gay community specific conversations: there seems to be a pervading theory that nobody is actually bi, but that they're actually gay but learned to be attracted to women while closeted. Also, it can viewed as a "lack of commitment" to gay culture.

Hot take: a lot of the men on here severely lack game, and the red pill has mostly become a community of those who lack game to complain about how it's unfair that they're expected to have game, then improve themselves in every way... except game. It has plenty of good advice, albeit mostly truisms that you probably knew anyway. Get rid of all the niche pseudo-psych babble and it's all basic advice that requires zero pilling. Trying to explain the worlds problems as an untrained, bitter, misogyn…

Oh I mean I'd never say it doesnt work at all! I know of plenty of success stories. Im just saying it's not a superior way of going about it, but that there's a trade off involved that isnt for everyone. In particular I think it's really good for people in lowish population density areas -- i.e. most of the US.

I usually just said "hey, hows your night so far?" Then take it from there. Online worked to a degree for me, but the problem of starting the interaction online is that you cant really feel the chemistry part of it. I met a lot of women online who I got along with really well on paper but had zero chemistry with in person. This is not an issue with in-person first interactions.
/r/PurplePillDebate19/06/22 10:38 PM

I'm guessing it's largely because of the "because it's natural" thing? Wanting what you want won't prick up many ears, but when you add "because that's all that is right and it's how it should be!!" it reads a little differently.
/r/PurplePillDebate19/06/22 02:02 AM
1

I mostly agree with you, but it does exclude those that were born into religion. To your point, the sociological end is what I was saying when I referred to a goal, that goal is what gives meaning/purpose to humanity in general. Being raised not only with a mythology, but with an entire system of meaning and purpose and then trying to navigate the world without it seems to be the tricky part.
/r/PurplePillDebate19/06/22 01:36 AM

Dude, this argument isn't really that hard. You know how you don't like some foods, but other people do? It's kind of like that. You end up with two possible conclusions: it's not for you, or everyone else is wrong.

I've been avoiding telling you this... I'm a dude who has slept with a lot of women who I find to be both high quality but also not dateable. /r/PurplePillDebate18/06/22 11:55 PM

There really isn't one, unless you get theological. Values are mostly judged according to a goal. If your goal is humanity, then yes, you can find something to work with and many angles from which you can go further. If you start with no goal at all -- that is, a very base-level objective reality -- you are not going to find anything at all that is related to anything you call "value".

An instructive story about an acquaintance of mine named Donatella. She was very smart, very funny, very witty. We shared a ton of classes together and she always had something good to say. There is certainly a degree of dynamism that becomes fruitless, I guess thatd be called being dilettante. Though, if you consider pure dilettantism as it's own philosophy, then take what I said into consideration, then that still wouldnt lead to a rigid strategy. In dating and professionally, I've found a lot of success acting with a sort of hybrid "stick to my guns" while still "able to strategically bend" type model.
/r/PurplePillDebate12/06/22 08:21 PM

/r/PurplePillDebate12/06/22 08:07 PM

Disagree! There is always a middle ground. The key is to consider it temporally, not as an overarching philosophy. I'd argue that the problem a lot of men here have is that they're taking "pills" as overall guiding philosophies; always or its meaningless type shit. In truth, the better model is to be able to pull from these situationally and be someone who is capable of being both a sensitive blob and a mindless horndog, then learn when either model is most appropriate.

Theres a very strong argument for schooling unless you approach it from a primitivist perspective. Even then, the counter argument either is dumb or impractical.

Cool! I'm in Chicago. New Orleans and St louis definitely have similar problems, but of a different flavor. New orleans is basically the same price as chicago rent-wise, but you make half. That was my main complaint, but I could rant about reasons not to live there forever haha. However, i do still love visiting!

Yes, to a certain extent. I'd say the same about blue. The problem is, both come with the baggage of bad pop psychology converted to dumb worldviews. Following any "pill" as gospel is not a particularly good strategy.

The fact that you don't seem to have a problem with any intellectual "movement", but just with intellectuals in general really makes it sounds like you are just generally anti-intellectual and don't really know what you are arguing against. I will say, though: yes, the position is esoteric. But why is that bad? Jargon exists for a reason. If you are attempting to explain complex matters, sometimes complex language is necessary. The fact that it is not accessible to random internet guy, and that …

We probably have nothing in common, and your tone is a bit "broey" compared to anyone I hang out with, but you are consistently the only person I agree with on this sub. Dudes here are trying to find objective measures for every detail, and get so wrapped up in quantifying every detail of every perceived problem then extrapolating a philosophical description of it that they never even begin solving problems.

My girlfriend and I were just talking about this! I also have not counted, but our ratio would be quite good, far more positive than negative by miles. It is very easy to fall into death spirals when one thing goes wrong, and I've seen it happen: lose your job, get depressed, partner nags about cleaning yourself up and getting a job, that seems unhelpful when you're depressed, avoid conversations because the other person is nagging, next thing you know most of your interactions are negative and …

Not saying ashamed during! Nor do I think you should be. Sex is weird because it's the simplest, most primal part of our existence besides eating, but also comes with the most complications. Your detachment sounds like you're just processing it all and also like to process in a very inward fashion. Sex is also very communicative. If you find yourself doing this repeatedly, but also regretting it: start by telling them. Say something even as simple as "sometimes I like to be alone after". That wa…

Take the time to think about what you want, and be completely honest with yourself in the process. Take the time to figure out how to get what you want, and actually strategize how to get there (i.e. don't fall into the trap of scorched earth "my way at all costs" shit) Take the time to do what you want, and take into consideration that you might have been wrong about the what/how along the way. Repeat. Everything else is a distraction.

There's a divide, for sure. But, where the pegs sit on either side of the one divide changes a lot depending on circumstances. If you're in the upper tiers of middle class, in my experience you have a very wide range of economic backgrounds available, but they trend upward.

I work on related stuff for a living. It feels silly but it actually makes a fair bit of sense in a linguistic sense. In addition, spelling out "save" and "download" wasn't a very good solution on low resolution CRT monitors as low resolutions and small text don't mix very well, so you run into space issues very quickly. Inventing a new icon for a rather abstract concept like saving, then teaching people what it means (with a tool tip, in text, which again can't be small and then takes up even m…

1) Not really a matter of how attractive, just a matter of whether or not I find her attractive and whether there seems to be either a good opening or mutual interest. 2) sliding scale. Though since you get more information about them on some platforms, I guess I'm a bit more forgiving in some cases when someone is intriguing for other reasons. 3) solid 8? 4) worked very well for me.

Depends on what you mean my rejecting. When I was single, whenever I was approached by a stranger that wasn't my type, I'd just keep the conversation in friendly territory (a soft rejection I suppose). In online dating, if a woman messaged me and she wasn't my type I generally wouldn't respond unless we had something cool in common, in which case same as above, keep it in non-flirty terms.

I fully agree, and think this is more an issue of labor standards and classicism than it is sexism (to keep on subject with this sub). It is disgusting that the traditional model is "dude becomes bosses slave and sacrificing his body, wife becomes husbands replacement backbone to make sure the whole house doesn't dissolve when dude breaks his back and boss doesn't care because the numbers don't work".

You're not going to get anything worth getting if you don't want it. You live in a safety net wherein instead of facing rejection; you have philosophized a way to describe why you will always be rejected, accepted it, and then bogged yourself down in the details. You're externalizing the problem in order to make it unsolvable because you don't feel like trying anymore, instead of doing any real problem solving.
