In my experience there is far to much antidotal and consensus gathering going on and not nearly enough depth given to the science that is being performed routinely these days. There is quite a bit of research that is coming out that gives some balance to the all or nothing debate with regard to carbs and fats. As for the diet and nutrition myfitpal is an excellent method but rather than setting an arbitrary 1500 or 1800 calorie diet spend two weeks simply tracking everything you put in your mouth.
