I am the "home slave" at the ripe old age of 60, taking care of 2 young children. I have some chronic health issues and I like to smoke some weed in the evening. It's legal here btw. So my wife takes issue with the weed and sternly informed me that she could just say that she and the kids "feel" unsafe and have me removed. It's that simple. When my kids were old enough to go to school I did in fact get a part-time job working up to 30 hours a week. It's been four years now. I do enjoy it. It's been really good for me. I am home in time for when they get out of school. It's kind of a general role reversal except that I also cook, clean the house, mow the grass, do the food shopping, lift things that are heavy, fix things, get up at night if she hears a noise, shovel snow... still that resentment.

I retired almost ten years to be the primary caregiver for my two young children. I believe my kids have greatly benefited by having me taking care of them as opposed to daycare, a nannie, or even my wife (she declared early on she wouldn't prefer to stay home).
