Singapore 100% Mandatory Conscription for 2 years for only males (+ 2 weeks every year till 40 , the pay is peanuts, around 300 a month) Caning only for guys Alimony only for females Special grants for females U can't win an accusation true or false. Recently a doctor won a 4 year long case of sexual harrasment, eventually the girl admitted she lied. There was once a discussion to increase the pay of conscripts from 400 USD to 1500USD as a minimums, a politician (female who never served) said the service of army cannot be measured in dollars and cents... Even people who are deaf in both years have to serve. Out of 40,000 enlistees every year, 500 are excepted. The reasons must be really really serious like suffering from terminal illness. Even those with phycological conditions like depression and adjustment disorder still have to serve in majority of cases. There are women in the army, but their treatment isn't even close to National Servicemen (which is what we call our conscripts). The women (and men) who SIGN ON (make the military a full time career instead of 2 years) are treated much better, afforded a MUCH MUCH higher salary, around 2-5K USD, while the conscripts are paid 450USD.
