It is pretty clear that women have no idea what they put their beta men through. You do not care for someone when you do that to them. I'm not really blaming the women because they honestly aren't attracted to them, but let us not pretend that it is anything but keeping them in misery while stringing them along. It is treating them like a sucker, even if the women are blind to it and rationalize it away. It is not caring for their men and it is certainly not being passionate. /u/mike918, we have…

Man, it was kind of a bummer to read the exchanges you linked to--it really seems like you had the best intentions, and I'm sorry you got those responses. On a more positive note, it seems like you're making sure you're the best possible father; your son is really lucky to have you. Also, in case this helps--pro-tip from a reading teacher/assistant principal who's worked with kids from second grade to eighth grade: one of the best ways to make sure boys grow up to think of women as people is by …

like expansive affirmative action programs (such as those in STEM fields), lower guilt standards for rape prosecution, laws against catcalling, and mandatory consent education (as some protestors are pushing for right now). What's interesting is that I'd like there to be more women in STEM fields, less rape, less catcalling, and more consent education (Currently a teacher/AP of middle schoolers and holy shit those kids have no idea what they want); I just don't think that the best answer is alwa…

Yes. Do you understand why that means bonobos are genetically closer to humans than chimps?
/r/PurplePillDebate26/06/15 03:29 AM

Right, but those changes are zero-sum. Women advance at the expense of men. I mean, I agree that feminism can bring about specific policy changes that benefit some groups of women, I just don't believe that feminism can bring about a better world in general. Better for some, worse for others. I guess that's how politics works. :( I don't know if that's the case. I mean, certainly there are some issues that work that way because they were rigged unfairly to begin with (having more women on the Su…

I don't think you believe it, either. If you believed that you could change gender roles, why would places like Bluepill, SRS, Jezebel, etc - standard-bearers of modern feminism-happily virgin-shame men? I do believe it can be changed. A lot has changed already. 100 years ago, I wouldn't have been allowed to vote. I wouldn't get positive feedback and respect from my male employees. And in terms of the sites you linked to, I'm a radical care feminist--not a liberal feminist; I don't think male vi…

From the source I linked to in my second reply to rediod6: However, a study published in a recent issue of PLOS Genetics indicates that chimps and bonobos are equally related to the common ancestor they share with humans. While chimps adapted to varied environments, bonobos stayed put in forests and remained in the same environment where they evolved. Their genetic codes have undergone fewer changes than those of chimps. This means that bonobos could be more closely related to humans than chimpa…

In support of your argument that "male early humans wouldn't care about female virginity or at least throwing the odds in their favor that the children their mate (s) produced weren't theirs," you cited this evidence: One, mate guarding in some forms is seen in almost ALL species whether they be avian, reptiles, mammals and even primates mate guard. I find it very strange that this deep instinct would exclude humans I challenged your evidence (which suggests that because other animals do, we mus…

What do I get from being here? Less and less as other BPers give up and the "debate" becomes more and more one-sided. There are a lot of posts, links, and comments on the Red Pill that make me angry, but most of it makes me really, really sad. I think the strategy is hurting women and men, and I guess I come here to try to make one or two guys question some of the fundamental beliefs that TRP is built on. I get that it's impossible to win this debate, because pretty much any time I critique a sp…

No. It's not that I think you have an unfair advantage. That doesn't upset me at all. It's that you are hurting, disrespecting, and manipulating people in order to get what you want.

I can't speak for all TBP users, but the issues you describe TBP being upset with in your post are not even close to what upsets me about TRP. If I thought TRP were just about making yourself look better to attract a majority of women on a superficial level, fine, I guess. I might not agree with your priorities, but you do you. I think the two-ships-passing-in-the-night effect is more a result of THIS IS A BAD WAY TO TREAT PEOPLE vs. BUT IT WORKS. Means vs. outcomes. I'm about to give an extreme…

Also from the book: ...emphasizing male violence against women in a manner which implies that it is more horrendous than all other forms of patriarchal violence does not serve to further the interests of feminist movement. It obscures the reality that much patriarchal violence is directed at children by sexist women and men. In a zealous effort to call attention to male violence against women reformist feminist thinkers still choose often to portray females as always and only victims. The fact t…

If it was designed to benefit men AND women, it'd be called "Equalism". I'd be fine with a name change. Trying to convince me that a movement with "fem" in the title is for my benefit is to insult my intelligence. I've read a substantial amount of TRP literature so that I can participate in the debates held in this sub in good faith. I asked you to read fewer than 20 pages of some highly accessible feminist theory since your posts have consistently demonstrated that you don't understand what you…

Most feminists argue that feminist thinking can improve the lives of men and women both. Check out pages 55-71 in bell hooks' Feminism is for Everybody, widely considered to be a great introduction to feminism (I'm not digging up crazy feminist fringe beliefs to counter your argument--this is about as mainstream feminist as you can get).

She can correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think /u/wonderingwhether54 is asking because she doesn't understand the sidebar, but rather because in quite a few one-on-one exchanges in PPD, when a Red Pill user is backed into a corner after a Blue Pill user references or criticizes an aspect of Red Pill theory/strategy that's linked to in the sidebar, the Red Pill user will claim that i…

I know that oil rig workers make more than teachers and nurses. However, so do most positions that require comparable degrees and training WITHOUT any risk of life, health, safety, etc. Acknowledge that and respond. I'm done with your red herring of dangerous jobs.
/r/PurplePillDebate14/06/15 06:59 PM
1

Are you intentionally missing the point? Or did you not understand? Let me be clearer. Teaching and nursing are female-dominated fields that require advanced degrees and certifications (unlike working on an oil rig), which is how people justify giving higher salaries to other positions that don't ask people risk their lives. Women in female-dominated fields don't want to be paid like they are risking their lives--they want to be paid like the people in male-dominated fields with jobs that requir…

Good attempting trying to conflate the two together. Dude, that's actually what the first guy did with his oilfield example, but whatever. I'm an elementary school teacher with a master's degree, and you're ignoring all context and nuance of the typical feminist arguments around the salaries of the female-dominated careers of teaching and nursing. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and assume that you've only heard oversimplified and shitty versions popularized by media. Here's the best argu…

Feminists want female elementary school teachers to get paid for their easy, safe, job the same amount that oilfield works get despite the fact that last year 138 drillers DIED on the job Sorry--this is an absurd example that ignores all context. Capitalism does not reward risk of death or injury with increased salary as a rule. How many CEOs died in their offices due to their job duties last year? Dentists? Engineers?

This is especially true in a case like this one, where /u/wonderingwhether54 has already shown that context significantly impacts the interpretation of the data that seems to support TRP's 80/20 rule. In the original post, the analysis of messaging data provides important context for the initial attractiveness-judging data, and should change how the attractiveness-judging data is interpreted and used. The messaging data analysis provides this important context by weakening the support of the att…

Data on whites men couldn't possibly support his argument about Asians. Actually, the context would prove invaluable in this scenario, since he would presumably be arguing that marketing to that specific group should be different from the marketing targeting other groups. If the data for white men and Asian men were not significantly different, then it would be silly to pitch a unique marketing plan for a group that would already be targeted by the marketing done for another group. If the data w…

Sigh If an individual chooses to deem all data that does not support his or her opinion as "irrelevant," I'm going to be very sceptical of that individual's ability to meaningfully analyze data, because it suggests a flawed approach and an inability to recognize the importance of context when analyzing data. When new data are analyzed, the person analyzing the data should (ideally) look at all pieces of the data without bias in order to understand the broader context for the data he or she plans…

Nope. Cherry picking is not necessarily an intentional fallacy. Confirmation bias can be displayed through an individual's unconscious cherry picking. Cherry picking doesn't always involve choosing desirable evidence while ignoring evidence that contradicts your point; someone who is cherry picking can also choose desirable evidence while ignoring other evidence that, while not necessarily contradictory, provides important context. Like the evidence examined by /u/wonderingwhether54 in the origi…

In response to your broader question about what feminism is about, I'm going to copy and paste another comment I've written before on this subreddit: I would really like to have an informed discussion about my feminism with people who buy into TRP strategy and worldview. I have a clarifying question about your claim of affirmative action in academia. Admissions policies vary at different institutions of higher learning, and many liberal arts colleges are currently more likely to accept less-qualified male candidates in order to maintain a gender balance on their campuses. Should people be admitted to college based on merit alone (gender-blind admissions), or do you support the actions of the colleges discussed in the articles linked to?

If I know that someone was born in one of the southern states, loves Nascar, supports the army, goes to church every Sunday, is against gay marriage, then I can confidently predict they'll almost certainly vote republican. Most of the things you listed are choices and preferences that individual has--not physical characteristics outside of his or her control.

cry a little harder please. I'm not. your unreasonable demands and standards What demands and standards? The only demand I made was to be judged by my actions rather than by a physical characteristic I was born with (along with half of the world's population). This is not an unreasonable demand, so you must be referring to something else. demand that perfection hand itself to you When did I demand perfection? and work for you Again, when did I make that demand?

I respected them for bringing up topics that mainstream culture doesn't want to think about, like the extent to which modern feminism pathologizes male sexuality, and how female relationship violence (physical or emotional) goes largely unacknowledged. I hear you--I just feel like there are much healthier spaces where these issues are being discussed that don't also dehumanize and target half of the population. One example that comes to mind is The Good Men Project, especially because they seem …

I saw TRP referenced as a joke, went there, and was really shaken up by what some men thought of women. Deeply disturbed and a little scared. Purple Pill Debate seemed like a nice idea, and it made me feel a little better because it was a little empowering to potentially change some minds or at least be able to try to understand the individuals who make up a movement that's dehumanizing and hateful.

Much of the theory of The Red Pill is absurd and dehumanizing. It is a framework or lens that asks adherents to view me as a lesser being because of immutable characteristics rather than my achievements, personality, preferences, or choices. It demands prejudice. I demand to be viewed as a human being who is the sum of her achievements, personality, preferences, and choices. I reject any framework that assigns intent and attempts to predict my choices based on my vagina rather than on my history…

No. That is a turn-off. Related: my fiancé and I have been watching Outlander, and we think it's funny how the romantic interest of the protagonist is obviously written to be an impossibly perfect man who makes all the ladies watching at home swoon. The sexual history of this perfect guy? Well: "Does it bother you that I'm not a virgin?" He hesitated a moment before answering. "Well, no," he said slowly, "so long as it doesna bother you that I am."

I'm not sure how you can assert that the patriarchy wasn't real for second-wave feminism (once again, like "feminism," "waves" of feminism are in fact made up of many different feminisms, typically defined retrospectively, and are not cohesive movements and chapters dictated by some feminist queen declaring when one wave ends and the next begins). While "first-wave" feminism was mostly interested in legal barriers to equality, second-wave took on institutional barriers. I'm completely lost as to…

That's my issue with real equal relationships. There is no permanence. Which I guess is a good thing if you pride yourself on being a woman who doesn't "need" a man in your life, but not such a good thing if you want to win a contest of having "better" relationships. Being able and willing to change a relationship as often as you buy a new pair of shoes is not the mark of devotion and loyalty required for a good relationship. Good long term relationships are not frivolous or disposable. I agree …

Are you willing to concede that all of TRP "field reports" and other anecdotal evidence is useless as well? Regardless, check my post again. I was giving the examples not to prove that egalitarian relationships are the norm, easy, natural, or any other claim that would be, to redpillers, akin to suggesting sorcery. Thanks for this response. I don't disagree with anything you've said, and while I know a RP dynamic wouldn't make me happy, I don't doubt that it can make some people happy. The responses like yours that acknowledge that the TRP isn't what's best for everyone, that fulfilling egalitarian relationships can exist, and that the strategies and principles of TRP (and RPW) are a way--rather than the only way--to be happy have honestly made me think a little better of TRP. I do believe in the patriarchy and rape culture, as does my fiance. I wouldn't necessarily define or react to those concept in the same way as the feminists whose views you find nonsensical. There isn't one unified feminist movement with total ideological consistency between all individual members. In this context, I mean egalitarian, seeing each other as equal partners who care about each other and each other's goals and happiness. I also mean that our roles in the relationship are not determin…

Wanting another person who you care about to be happy doesn't go away as a feminist just because that person is a man, that makes no sense whatsoever. We make each other happy. We put in equal work into our relationship and our household and we support each other equally in our carer goals. That seems pretty feminist to me. Feminism as you define it does not have a place in first world countries I don't completely agree. I think there are societal issues and forms of discrimination that uniquely affect women just as there are issues and forms of discrimination that uniquely affect men. Here are two recent examples of the former: "...the trial court also ruled that bullying women over breast-feeding cannot be considered sex discrimination, because men can, in theory, lactate, too.
