Well then, it sounds like I can be just as pretty as the kindest, most loving bridge-troll. 😂 But it is true that people develop faces to match their personality through the years! As the saying goes "By the age of 40, every man has the face he deserves." Thank you! I think I'll do both! 😊

You are helping! Thanks for the clarification. I guess it was a rhetorical question, since I know I can't control it. If you're telling me to date within my range, but I don't like guys in my range, then I feel like that's a dead end. Your explanation makes sense. I get that. It's the reason I felt insecure with the men who seemed out of my league. But maybe they actually wouldn't be out of my league if I reach my fullest potential. Or maybe I'm kidding myself. Time will tell! 😄

Thank you so much for the encouragement! I'm sorry you're dealing with some of the same issues. Feel free to message me if you ever want to chat about this stuff. I will keep up the work! 😊

No offense taken! Thank you for more input! But how do I just become attracted to men I'm not attracted to? I've been within earshot of that kind of talk my whole life. I have three older brothers. 😄 It's kind of why I have trust issues because I think every guy is just leading me on for sex and has no respect for me. I'm working on it! I feel a little confused by the beginning of your post telling me to stay within my range, and the end saying I'll get better picks if I improve myself. Wouldn't…

There would be much discussion about sex before it happened. He would know the situation. I'd like to keep surprises to a minimum! 😅 I'm not against religion at all. I'm agnostic and don't think it's likely I'll ever believe in a diety, but I have zero problem with people who do. I can't really change my faith just to suit my situation, but if a religious man could find it in himself to love this heathen, then his religion it's not a barrier for me! Thank you for your advice about being myself! …

Thank you! No, I'm not "free and clear" by far! I'm just trying to get my life in order and start making friends again, male and female. I don't expect to be dating anyone quickly. I'm only interested in relationships that could lead to marriage. I've never wanted anything casual or short-term. Am I mistaken to think I can't get out of my SMV/RMV range? I thought we all pretty much have to date within our range, but you can change your range by bettering yourself. I find I'm not attracted to mos…

I also love those two! Maybe they're the perfect example of how everyone has to find what works for them. Lois would not be happy being led, and Hal is happy just as long as he's with the woman he adores. Their marriage is solid. 👍 That said, I've never, ever, ever wanted to be a Lois! 😅

Women aren't obligated to be "honest" in the way you're describing when rejecting men. An unknown person can be dangerous and unpredictable. If I'm not interested in a man, I'm not going to risk being insulted or assaulted so that he can potentially have the most valuable learning experience possible. I'm going to use whatever tactic seems the safest/most effective. Some guys don't pick up the subtle hints, or even accept an outright "no", so if the next tool I have in my belt is to give a fake …

Thank you. Your answered my question perfectly regarding what men will think when they hear "no previous relationships". And I will "admit" to being a virgin. It's just not something I would bring up if a guy's only asking when my last boyfriend was or something. I do plan to wait until I'm married (or with the man I expect to marry), and would totally make that known, too. Just not unnecessarily early, like when we're just getting to know each other and not actually dating.

Thank you! I'm not planning to tell anyone that unless I think it would be relevant, as in, I think we might have sex in the future. And that would only be after there's enough trust established that I expect he'd believe me. My baggage would already be known (or at least, hinted at) by that point, as I don't go around hiding/denying my issues. I make jokes about myself and wear my heart on my sleeve. Finding out I'm a virgin would probably click a lot of things into place. Yea, I think I'm subm…

Thank you so much for sharing your experience! I'm not too worried about a guy high-trailing when he finds out I'm a virgin. It would be a good filter, you're right! I love "Church of Me, congregation of one". I will probably use that when people ask if I'm religious, regardless of whether we're talking about sex or not!

Thank you! You bring up good points! Yes, some men might not be happy that I'm a virgin, but hopefully one will be able to see the bright side like you have! 😄 Yes, I am wary of guys being interested in me specifically because of my lack of experience. Either to sooth their own insecurities or as some sort of challenge. I don't plan to talk drop the v-bomb on anyone I'm not already getting a bit serious with. So hopefully those guys would be filtered out!

Thank you, this is helpful to hear! That is my typical self. Friends who've found out I'm a virgin have been very surprised. I sometimes worry about having such opposing aspects of myself making me seem like I'm lying or being fake in one way or the other. But, I guess I just need to be me and let people draw their own conclusions. I suppose I'm a bit old-fashioned. But frigid, judgemental, or prudish; nope, nope, nope!

His words, not mine! 😅 I'm not pretty a pretty girl, but I do have a nice figure. That's the only saving grace. When I dated in the past, I tried to never show that I was so guarded because I thought it would be a turn-off. If a guy did take my hand or put his arm around me, I would try to act so smooth and okay with it as I repositioned myself away from him or somehow planned an excuse/escape. Three-dates guy obviously figured this out! But, I eventually told him I was okay with kissing on the …

I'm a very playful, jokey girl. When I come here I've got my thinking cap on in problem-solving mode, so I might seem very technical and dry. I'm glad it seemed an odd departure and that I haven't come across as a guilt-tripping, drama-llama in addition to the above. 😅 Goodnight to you, as well! 😊

Thank you! My brows are already dark, just soooo sparse! But maybe if they were darker it would still help. I'll have to look into that! 😊 The guy I went on the most dates with (three) actually told me he didn't trust me at first because "every guy wants the shy girl" and he assumed it was an act. He revealed this to me after finding out I was a virgin (which he asked point blank, I didn't bring it up). He was relieved because that "explained it". He loved that shy side of me. He was only worrie…

It was a joke. My aim was not empathy or guilt, but laughter. Sorry it didn't read that way. I initially had a laughing emoji, but decided against it as being too cutesy. I should've gone with cutesy. 😄 I didn't think you were insulting me. I've appreciated your honesty throughout this thread.

I don't plan to bring up the virginity thing. It actually barely came up in the original post until a commenter asked my N-count, so I made it more clear. I wouldn't consider lying. It's good to know you can see the silver lining. I know I'm a virgin because I have problems. The virginity is a symptom. But that doesn't mean it can't have its own benefits. Edit: typos

Thank you! I don't really care if a man thinks I'm a virgin early on. He'll find that out eventually, but it's not the point I necessarily want to drive home. I just feel the "no relationship" part will imply I'm on the other end of the spectrum. Me being a virgin at this age is due to issues I've had/have, so a man would be right to think it's a red flag! I'm not assuming it will be well-recieved by any man who finds out. Thank you for the pointer of framing it as what I have done as opposed to…

And I remember you. Why are you unhappy that I'm asking for advice? I'm trying. I am overthinking things. That's why I come here to ask other people's opinions because I know I get in my own way. Where did I say I was looking for a knight in shining armor? I am doing something. I am doing lots of things to improve my life and whatever I could bring to the table in a relationship. I'm working on my appearance, my social life, my housekeeping, my trust issues, my financial situation, etc. It takes…

Thank you! This is exactly what I want to hear, what those words make a man think. Just dawned on me that maybe I should be more playful about it. That is my personality anyway. Any guy who's asking me about my history and who's opinion matters to me is going to know I'm a joker. And he's going to know I'm physically guarded. Me: "Relationships usually involve a lot of touching. And you know how I feel about the touching!" Him: hopefully laughing "Yea, but not when you're into somebody, right?" …

I'm honestly scared of most of the RP subs because there seems to be a lot of animosity towards women. I don't want a ton of responses that are bashing me. I'm just getting back on this horse! I've seen men post here, and also ladies can advise on some of this stuff based on their own experiences with men. I have none, so it's still informative for me. To your suggestion, that wouldn't seem odd to just throw out there? A bit like "the lady doth protest too much?"

Thank you! I also dress conservatively, don't party, wear almost no makeup (just eyebrows because my natural ones are near invisible), and I never touch guys. I actually need to learn for when I finally do want to show interest in someone! Also, I hate nails in my coffee! I would've walked, too. 😜

I'll take that bet, sir! 😎 I am ugly and I do have mental illness. I wish I were joking. But the upside is it looks like he'll believe me. 👍 I am absolutely not planning on lying to anyone about this. And I do want to bond with my future husband. Which is why I plan to stay a virgin until I find him. So I don't think the bonding part of it will put him off. I really appreciate your honesty! I am well outside the norm (not in a good way), so my future man will have to be, too. I'm not planning on…

I'd like to hear what men think if they find out a woman never had a serious relationship, and any advice on how to answer the "relationship history" questions that doesn't imply that I've been playing the field. No, I'm not against saying that at all! But that seems a little personal to volunteer if a guy's just asking when my last relationship was. I'm worried about guys thinking I'm just looking to hook-up or that it's what I've done in the past. Edit: typo

Actually, followup for you! I never expected a man would think that no previous bf = virgin. But I am wondering if it means he'll assume I've been sleeping around for 10 years. Thoughts?

Then I better find a church! 😅 Thanks for the feedback! So them assuming I've been sleeping around is likely. I'm going to hold out hope that there's a man who'll believe me when I tell him. But until the reveal I'll suppose he's thinking otherwise.

Thanks for this! Yea, I bowed out of the dating scene in my early 20s due to lots of insecurities and just never quite feeling "right" with any guy. I'm only getting back into it now. I shudder to think about confused and insecure and near-spineless 20-something me having sex for the first time. God, that would've been a bad time!!

Your or several other people's opinions and anecdotes are as much valid points as anyone else's. You really have no leg to stand on dismissing another persons opinion while calling your own the "facts of life". You said "Date some guys. Choose one decent guy. Get to know him. Have sex together. Get some relationship experience. If this won't work out on long-term basis, it's fine. You're more experienced now. Time to move on." That prioritizing finding sex over finding long-term compatability. I…

Well, here I am! AMA! 😄 My friends are always surprised when they find out. I look just like normal people! 😮 Fortunately, I'm not looking for a low-count/virgin. I really don't care. I'm more concerned about whether he's been careful, and respectful of himself and his partners than what the "number" is. A number is such a meaningless way to summarize an experience between two people. A number tells you virtually nothing. I get a vibe from the other poster that he's like that friend who tries to…

If a virgin (or anyone) gets clingy and insecure after sex, then the relationship wasn't solid in the first place. I highly doubt my fiance/husband is going to be annoyed by our new level of intimacy, or that I'm going to be afraid that he's going to leave me now that he invested for a year+ and got his one night of timid virgin sex. I don't know why you would even bring all this stuff up. Or the "first time sucks" thing. Feels like you're just fear mongering and trying to make me doubt myself. …

Your "valid points" were opinions and anecdotes. And then you told a woman that she should prioritize finding a sex partner over finding a life partner to gain "experience". I think you think you're helping, but you're like a toddler with a machine gun.

Just wanted to say I totally relate to this! When a guy says that sex is an emotional/intimate act for him, I immediately feel less worried that he's just trying to get some. Of course, guys "say" a lot of things! 😅 So n-count can be revealing! But remember, people learn through their experiences. The way he felt about sex in the past may not be the same way he feels now. So a number alone is not the end-all, be-all. And there's nothing wrong with being a little insecure. Sex is sharing a very i…

Yup, I thought it was similar to that. But, um, was that second point intended to be mean or discouraging? Implying that I'm going to become annoying to my SO after we have sex? In what way do you even mean that? And I didn't mean I can't compare because of their experience. I'll get experience and practice, too. But given equal practice, each woman has her own talents. I might give him the best bjs he's ever had, but I could never touch the way Jenny rode him, or vise versa. If he's only been w…

I go back and forth on this. I've never been in a relationship, but I've talked with a couple men that I was interested in about their sexual history. My emotional response seems to be almost positive. Like, there's a comfort in knowing he's not clueless about sex. That's probably a bit selfish because I, a virgin, probably am! (Although I will say I'm exceedingly educated in the topic! 😅) I also really like it if I get the sense that he's not desperate. It's good to know that sex is something h…

I'd say my standards are in the way he treats me, mutual trust and respect, sharing important life goals and values, and genuinely feeling happy and comfortable together. I couldn't settle on any of those points. I'd absolutely rather be single. However, my criteria? Those could change or be "settled" on. I currently have very few, just what I think is most important. But if I met a great man who didn't meet one, that might cause me reevaluate and, I suppose, "settle" for him. But really, that w…

Seconding this! Maybe a more attainable goal is a set number/type of workouts a week. You'll know you're doing the best that you can and will be in the best shape possible by the cruise! Without feeling like a failure if the cellulite is still there, because you really can't control that. Especially not in a month. I found this video very informative about what cellulite is and how it works/forms. Also includes a workout designed to fight it! https://youtu.be/0M2RlnUt6Ro
