Yeah, except there are guys who aren't good looking who get to be beta bucks, or at least end up on that path in a relationship before it fizzles out. Actually, they are. Story editors in television series are higher ranking members of the writing staff. They write their own stories just like the rest of the staff (all four of the women listed in the image here have written stories themselves for this season, according to the wikipedia episode list information), but as story editors, they also give revision notes to other staff members on the latter's stories.
