Best time to have planted a tree was 30 years ago. Next best time? Right now. Let's do it.

The other takeaway for me was the motivation to complete the project in the first place. You did it because it needed to be done, not because she wanted it to be done. I had a similar experience after a completing a major house project last summer. She helped, but it was 95% my effort and work to complete. After it was done, the wife was very happy and commenting on all the hard work. While I appreciated the acknowledgement, the work wasn't done for her validation. It was a necessary task and I …

Another good reason. Thanks for the feedback.

Shit I am owning: I have been regularly hitting the gym and running for 5 months. Feeling stronger and looking better. Working my way through the material and have picked up a couple of related texts: The Way of Men - Jack Donovan, The Mindfull Attraction Plan - Athol Kay. Slooooowly applying STFU and IDGAF. Shit I need to own: Need to cut back on the booze. Fucks with my time, my work at the gym and my attitude. It's easy to slip back into BP habits.

Shit I need to own: Getting complacent and lazy. I will go on a roll and get some easy gains, physically or with the relationship, take my foot off the gas and wonder why the hell I'm having to take a step back. I've read somewhere in this sub that it could take a month for every year married. I believe this to be true. So why the fuck does it surprise me when I have to cover old ground again? 'cause the effort to be a better me never ends. I may have to start writing this down until it sinks in…

Not sure the comments represent 'getting out of hand'. But, you are correct in some respects. There is no reason in the world he can't say no, or should be made to feel bad about saying no. Or even say: "I'm making X. Did you want to have some?" It's not simply a subtle shift in the language. Her statement: "Do this for me." His statement: "I'm doing this, did you want in on it?" He leads, she can choose to follow. Or not ...

The Good: I've read the prereq's and am working my way through MAP. I've been successful with getting a regular workout & fitness routine in place, with noticeable results. It's been a while since I have felt this good physically. Visible, noticeable difference in muscle tone and definition. The Bad: Frequency of sex initially went up, but has since slid back to where it was pre-RP, about 3 months ago. Still swinging back and forth between anger and self pity. Need to get out and rediscover what…

Read this and literally did a face-palm. I've gotten so far in my head lately - keep frame, reflect on what pissed me off about X or Y and doing shit for me - that I lost track of this critical ingredient. Need to get the boys together soon. NFL season ahead! Thanks for the reminder.

I took a week off to do some major home improvement projects and got hit between the eyes with legacy, blue pill thinking completely out of nowhere. Somewhere near the end of the job, I'm tired and winding down for the day and the wife comes up to me and says "Thank you Honey. The place looks great and I know it's a big effort to get it done." Instead of taking the comment in stride and turning it into something fun or sexy, my first reaction was to be grateful for her validation, then pissed of…

Will try and comment without the whole picture - the danger of anon internet posting - but sounds like you are on the right path. Wife seems to be shaping her reality to match the MIL. It's what she knows, so thinks that's how it should be in her own marriage. When all is said and done, it's your house. You can tolerate bad behaviour from guests to a point. But if it becomes a regular outcome then, the drawbridge will lift and they will no longer be welcome. Don't engage the MIL, she has nothing…

Stop. Reflect. Decide to do it different next time. But don't apologize and justify. I find that when I'm not being mindful of what I'm doing and saying that I will immediately fall back into the years of brain washing and bad behaviour. Each incremental change in behaviour will make a difference, especially in your own frame of mind. Edit: Yes, I spell words with an extra 'U'.

Can't agree more with the point about making decisions. It was like a contest at times, to see who could hold out the longest to committing to something as simple as "what do you want to do this weekend?" It felt like the person who committed first lost - painful. Now I make the simple decisions without a second thought and suddenly there's no stress in the situation. Steady as she goes.

This is something I always have to keep foremost in my mind, and it doesn't just apply to anger but most emotions. Adjusting your perspective and recognizing the triggers are key to channeling the emotion in the right direction. Anger gets you going, makes you want to do something and reminds you to examine where it comes from. Then you can decide how to respond.

Excellent field report. Nice to hear about the positive outcomes you're seeing. I'm only a couple of weeks in, and still working through the material, so updates like this add fuel to the fire. Two things you mention had hit me square between the eyes: the choreplay and the covert contracts. I need to work on the confidence to just say what I want. I've read NMMNG and am now working through WISNIFG, so hopefully I can make the mental connections I need to get there. Thanks for the update.

Rollo Tomassi talks about 'Buffers' in "The Rational Male" and while there is a shit ton of good content in the book overall, this concept was the one that resonated the most with me as I jumped into the pool. I qualified for just about every example on the list at one time or another and was putting zero effort into looking at what I truly wanted, all to avoid being rejected or shot down or confronted. To turn some of the text around: Regret hurts far worse than rejection. This is what I need t…
