Inflation is a cruel mistress

No question, but from a thought exercise point of view. When she says no, what do you do? Negotiate for your voucher? Get mad? Let her walk all over the "boundary" you set by doing nothing at all? Literally any answer to that question is basically shitty.
/r/askMRP02/02/19 02:14 AM

There's only one real question: what happens when you try to cash in the voucher and she says no?

You're completely correct. The desire comes to me the most when I'm idle, lazy, or otherwise looking for time to fill. I already probably spend too much time in the gym every week. (8-12 hours). There's some work to be done there. Behavioral retraining to turn those idle thoughts to something more productive.

I have a divorce lawyer in my phone contacts. We've already spoken. I have a separate emergency fund. I have evidence of what I need, sorted and prepared already should the need arise. Just because I don't think I'm going to do it doesn't mean I'm a complete fuckwad who can't plan for even "unthinkable" outcomes. I have homeowners insurance, too. I may consider the 3rd tool to be my last resort, but I'm willing to turn there if I truly believe that the first two have failed. Which I don't. I wil…

One point, she hasn't gone through my phone at all since then. Even when I give it to her to take pics / look at pics / navigate she stays out of my shit. When I set that boundary I got an epic shitstorm of feelz and hamstering, but held strong and other than occasional shit testing (like this event) she's respected it. The rest of your post is valuable criticism and absolutely correct. I finished rereading NMMNG approx 3 weeks ago and am cracking WISNIFG again when I'm done with another career-…

All of the science I've read basically reinforces the negative side effects I'm unwilling to risk. I've been watching a lot of the Anabolic Doctor on YT, and reading studies he suggests. If you can provide some counterpoints I'd love to read them as well. I'm all for being as strong as I possibly can, I've just been turned off of Anabolics by lifetime side-effects I find unacceptable. (LVH, testicular atrophy, etc)

Call me a retard all you want, I care not. I'm not a Christian but when I spoke my wedding vows infront of God I considered it an almost unbreakable utterance of my word as a human being. I will not turn to divorce unless I truly see no other option. I know what my end state is. I know that - given all of my experience with her and in our relationship - my end state is just as desirable to her as it is to me. And she well knows how shitty and insane she can be. And she's trying to improve upon i…

You're right on both counts. She escalates verbally when I turn into a broken record, or when I STFU. I consider it to be part of her hamster wheel. I already have a hard boundary about refusing to engage with her when she's behaving like that, and I stick to it. That doesn't make it any better, but is the boundary I've established thus far. Good plan. I know I should have done this. Laziness the only reason I haven't. I am fucking done because you're completely correct. That's the exact cycle I…

I didn't respond to it. Verbally or otherwise. Just stared at her calmly. She knows how utterly insane she can be when she gets going. Has come to me sobbing and begging forgiveness for saying what she said to me the first time around. ("why don't you want to talk about it? You know what I said to you was so terrible.") It doesn't weigh on my mind or bother me. None of her words do, any more.

My Shit 5'11. 178lb 415 DL 365x1 Squat 180x5 BP Weekly Failures: Big one this week. What I would call a "serious event" ongoing. Work from home, nights. Was taking a break, watching some Dr. Anabolic videos about steroid usage (Reinforcing my decision to never turn to anabolics), watching some All-22 tape on the Rams, and was looking at fun new positions to try with the wifey on my phone. Yeah, absolutely. I've let her be the fucking captain of my dick for our entire relationship and I'm sitting here complaining about the shitty outcomes of my own decisions. The way I wrote my OYS sure sounds a shitload like blaming her, but mentally that's not where I'm at. I know that I'm not making her tingle, and her sexual response is tailored to that. I want to dive straight into SGM and start cavemanning her again, but I know that's a step on the ladder I haven't reached yet. I need to bui…

My Shit 5'11. 171lb 415 DL 350 Squat 175 Bench Weekly Failures: Still DEERing too much. Too much emotional talk. Some failures with insufficient AM, or badly answered shit tests. Nothing catacylsmic. I've basically buckled down. Probably slammed the rambo button a little too hard with the hard initiations and overall STFUness. Got a comment about being "back to the 'new and improved' husband". You also dig yourself into a hole here from her perspective, in that you go halfway to vomitville and then decide to shut the fuck up and she's like "wait what the fuck are you even doing". I'm guilty of this too.

My Shit 5'11. 173lb. 415 DL 350 Squat 175 Bench Weekly Failures: Continued failing shit tests this week. Not surprising, I'm rapidly realizing just how far I had backslid and am really beating myself in the face for being so complacent. Squats are life. I also have very long arms (6'5 wingspan at 5'11) which makes all of my pressing movements ridiculously bad. When I'm done with BBB I plan on switching to a really bench heavy program during my summer cut to chase down 2 plates.

Okay, after some time for reflection and some more meltdown - I have no idea how Wife will respond to this. My steps need to be set in stone and followed regardless of her reaction I failed my family, my wife, my child, but more than anything else I've failed myself. After approximately 1 year of unplugging I started a slow slide right back into Beta Boy. I haven't read a sidebar book since I started smoking again. Psychiatrist is, at this point, a necessity. I'm fat and unathletic. Playing catch up is hard.
/r/askMRP22/11/17 03:13 AM

Yeah agree 100%. My point wasn't that SL is inadequate or sucks, but it's important to recognize when a program isn't working any more and move on to something else. I was absolutely completely untrained. Had no clue how to do the movements. Hurt myself more than once. Watched hours upon hours of YouTube. It's been a helluva fun process and I absolutely love the solitude offered by my 8-9 hours a week in the gym now.
/r/askMRP22/11/17 02:44 AM

I didn't get near this before I stalled on SL. I moved on to more balanced programs and saw much better gains. (Currently running NSuns 4 day, I started 2/1/17 completely untrained.) FWIW I'm 10 months in, my current stats: M/26/5'11 250lb -> 205lb Squat 3rm 315lb Dead 3rm 300lb Bench 160 3rm SL5x5 worked for me for about 6 months.

Just failed a shit test hard. Crash and burn, womp-womp sound effects, whatever whatever I don't really need to victim vomit. We're on vacation. It's related to morning sex. She makes a shitty comment about how I should just go look at porn instead, and I lose my shit. We spend the next 15 minutes fighting, arguing, whatever. MRP doesn't fix problems, it fixes men. MRP can't tell you how to handle your situation, it can tell you how to be a better human. You want me to tell you what to do? Fuck off. You have a brain between your ears. Use it. If you don't want your wife to go kayaking with business connections, tell her. If you don't care, tell her. Sounds like you have no idea what you want or think, and you want MRP to tell you what to say.

In my experience DEER comes when you're insecure about the decision you made in the first place. When I lie and hide, I want to DEER because I feel the need to defend myself. To rationalize my decision. To excuse my action. And that's beta as fuck. I've found the best way to prevent DEER is to be internally at peace with the decisions I make, and the possible consequences thereof, good, bad, or otherwise. The additional thought that process requires allows me to make better decisions in the firs…

It's all on my budget. After the increased cost was determined, we discussed the vacation at length, and what it meant before committing to it. Mutual decision to spend the money and put off paying off the debt. We have no other debt outside the car payments and mortgage, and are financially secure. Solid emergency fund. Solid retirement plans. Have more than enough to pay off both cars in savings, but they're very low interest (.9% and 1.9%) loans so I'm happy to leave that money invested. I am…

A perfectly precise judgement that level 3 is stillborn thus far. Our schedules are weird. I work 6:30-3:30, she works ~2pm-9pm. MIL watches our 5 month old in our house in between. I had a good hobby life prior to the baby. I don't now. It'll get better in the summertime as it's racing season and her schedule gets more flexible I think I've been mis-attributing her anger towards my hobbies. Sure, they're expensive and sure, I probably spend too freely on parts for the racecar... But she really …

Noooo shit Sherlock. I'm not getting ANY of my validation drugs from her. Hugs, kisses, caring touches, favors, thoughtfulness, kindness, anything. She's treating me like her roommate. And that - to a guy who has RELIED on those feelings of external validation for 10 years - is not an easy adjustment to make. I am actually in the process of writing a longer post about this, but even this post last night was a search for external validation. Of all the MRP learning I am doing, I have identified a…

I haven't known what people really meant by "choking on the pill" until these last 2 weeks. I ended up getting up last night, and going off to have a glass of scotch and read the sidebar. Keep lifting. Eat 1500. If your lifts stall for a month, add calories through adding protein. I started lifting and counting at 2000, now down to 1800. My lifts haven't stalled other than a deload for a minor back injury. The first 3 months of lifting for a fat guy is learning how to use the muscles you already have, not building new muscle. I personally am focusing on a long term (12 months) body recomposition instead of a cut/bulk cycle. I LOVE lifting. I want to work my way down to 15% while …

Oh it's not a calendar that's the problem. She's a snooper. She'll go through every text message, read the whole conversation, go through emails, check Google docs, check my pictures, everything and anything. It wouldn't surprise me if she found my Reddit accounts and went through my entire post history. It's not like she just wants to take a picture and spends 5 seconds peeking at my messages. I snipped that portion of my post after re reading it. You're definitely correct. She still looks at sex as a chore to be done after everything else around the house is taken care of, for the most part. I still have a long way to go on my SMV

Snipped. Everything that was here was my seeking external validation for going to bed early, and my wife shit testing me by not communicating. The issue isn't even the fucking money, man. Im convinced the money is irrelevant to the fact that I was so scared of her getting mad at me that I needed to hide spending from her. I spent $600. Not 10k. Yes, I have a plan. It's in its infancy but it's on my MAP. Abso-fucking-lutely. This is just mind blowing. Our bottle warmer broke. I ordered a replacement. She sees it "did you ASK if you could buy this?" "No, I didn't." AND THATS THE END OF THE CONVERSATION. Larger purchases do require cooperation as we are equal earners. It's not just MY money. It's been a recurring theme of our relationship, unfortunately. I've literally conditioned the woman to be wary of me hiding spending from her. It's going to take a lot of time for that to fade. Could I have done without the DEER? Maybe. Probably, even. I made a conscious choice to be frank with her given my personal demons surrounding the situation. And yeah. The biggest thing you can do is cogitate on the issue, come to a strong conclusion one way or the other, and commit to it with…

My diet fucking sucked for the last month. Ate too much, too often, and ended up not logging an entire week. It's time to man up. Make a meal plan. Stick to it. Eat 1g/lb of protein. Cut wayyy back on the filler carbs.

60 days of: 1) NO missed workouts. I hadn't missed one in 8 weeks, then went on vacation and missed a week. Now I have to deload and be sore. I need to not bitch out. 2) Run 30 miles in 60 days. Add cardio on my days off from lifting. The dog will love me. 3) Create and follow a meal plan. 2 meals a day, 6 days a week. 16-8 IF, so only lunch and dinner. 180g protein a day. 4) No binge days. Was clean on binge eating for 6 weeks but have had a couple red days. Need to man the fuck up and tell my …

Hah. Walking the line between IDGAF and STFU and autistic retard is definitely a learning process. It's really easy to jump in like "ugh classic shit test to ask me to hand her the remote!" And just end up being a fucking douchenozzle. I definitely have strayed to the wrong side of the line a couple times. And to your second point, I 100% agree. I haven't been putting any effort in. I shouldn't be surprised she's not either. It's way easier to jerk off and ignore her (sexually) than to put the e…

FWIW I had a achillees issue as well from january into early march. Nothing bad, just some tightness and "pinching" feeling when stretching it. Went to a podiatrist and he told me to take a prescription strength anti-inflam (800mg ibu) and stretch it daily. Still took a full month for it to loosen up and get back to normal.

Physical/Health: F. Diet has been poor. Down 20lbs now (230, started at 250) but should be more. Lifts are still going the right direction. 175 Squat, 95 Bench, 205 Dead, 75 OHP, 95 Row. Still having grip strength problems with DL. Not sure if I should increase reps or if I should continue doing farmer's walks on my non-DL days. Felt like doing DLs yesterday so did 5x2 135 and 10x2 185 after I was done with the rest of my sets. Failed my second set of squats yesterday at 175, figured out my issu…

I have a step by step in my head. Removing attention is coming once I'm comfortable identifying and passing STs, as well as certain fitness and personal goals. I'm biting off one piece at a time to try to make this into a granular process

Mmm seriously good points. I really don't want to make a covert contact about sex. CCs are one of my major problems and the way I wrote and rewrote that section of my post is definitely suspect. I am not framing them as anything, really. The first weekend was "I need to look for some new casual shoes so I'm going to x y and z of you'd like to come" and we went to the mall, went shoe shopping, went furniture shopping, ended up going out to dinner. On Sunday this week, we got up, went to church, t…

Buckle up buckos: I've been slipping this week. Not with improving myself, but in the way I interact with my wife. She threw some big shit tests at me over the weekend and I was a mixture of pass/fail. I realized today I passed one acceptably but reacted like a pussy to the other, and that's carried on into the week. So time to OMS. Physical/Health: Down 15lbs since unplugging. 55 more to lose. Current stats are 135LB squat, 65LB OHP, 165LB DL, 95LB Row, 85LB bench. Fitness is still an F. Tried …

I did Keto in 2012 and again in 2013. Lost 20-30lbs each time but it wasn't sustainable for me. I considered doing it again but I'm doing well with simple CICO.

When I got back from the gym this morning, I took my usual shower, shaved, etc etc etc then went to kiss her and the baby goodbye. Gave her an "I love you both very much" with the kiss and a partial hug. Got a sleepy "if you loved me then you would take care of things" as I walked out the door. Too long after the test?

The schedules aren't quite that bad. I almost always have dinner for her when she walks in the door (8:30-9, she's off Fridays and Saturdays, cooking is a hobby of mine). I hand her the baby so she can say hi, get her dinner ready for her, and sit down to "talk" and be her tampon for 30-45 minutes, play with the baby, etc. Friday nights I tend to spend working on my projects (clean gutters, side job, etc). Saturdays are just for us. Been making the effort to go out and DO STUFF together every Sa…

Is not learning to avoid DEERing, learning to A&A, AM, all the others, part of the self-improvement process? Does physical fitness come before mental and emotional fitness? I completely understand shitting on my self deprecation. It's sad and sadder that it's true, I'm just trying to clarify if you're saying my frame is terrible all around or if you're focusing on the part where I have a BMI of 38

Ugh. Yeah, you're right. Too much STFU some places, not enough others. Thanks, that's some introspection I needed.

I've always considered myself ugly. Never looked in the mirror and thought "wow I look good today". Even in HS when I was the same height and 125lbs. I'm probably selling myself a little short, I'm just disgusted at being obese for so long and fucking around with fad diets instead of changing my lifestyle. I've always considered my wife to be way out of my league. Stupid big time ONEitis for her as soon as we met. It's never gone away. Shes 5'2, 125lbs (before baby) and is back down to 135. She'…

Eh, not sure I agree on the attitude. Her comment wasn't "WTF is wrong with you why are you treating me this way" it was more "WTF is going on for the first time you're taking care of business without my involvement and nagging" I'll work on not STFUing too much. I'm taking to A&A like a little kid to an iPhone. It fits well with my sense of humor and is slowly becoming my go-to for the everyday shit tests.
