You mean like a marriage license with the State, or like a prenuptial agreement? Most people do not sign prenuptial agreements but if you want to have certain legal protections in a marriage, that's the way to do it. Most states still have "common law" where you'd be accountable for the same things as an official licensed marriage just from acting married. But more than that... A marriage is supposed to be a covenant, a mutual promise. What is it about a "contract" that you have an issue with?

The confusion may come with the movie called The Red Pill, which is about MRA. The term originates from the Matrix, and can be applied to any situation that one wants to compare to "the thing you take that breaks you out of a dysfunctional illusion".

Oh wow, I thought you were going to say she was pregnant.

You're welcome. Hey this is a random afterthought, and may have been brought up by others already, but are you using hormonal birth control? (I.e "the pill"?) A lot of newlyweds who abstained before marriage and then went on hormonal BC at the wedding find a surprising decrease in attraction. Google it, it's crazy, but apparently in smell, voice, and even facial structure, men find more attraction in women who are ovulating. Not trying to sell you on making a major BC change or turning into turb…

Cool. The book is called "Unbreaking" and it's a true story of a couple who had struggles (that hopefully you can avoid) but a part of it includes the dynamic of the husband's motives in marrying his wife. Hopefully your marriage doesn't go through the difficulties they did, but the main take-away is that through their difficulty, they came to a stronger relationship with each other and with God. I've met both of the authors and their kids, too. Good people. https://www.amazon.com/Unbreaking-How…

I'll offer what I can to help with this from experience: You did not make a mistake. For one, your wife's heart and attitude are going to make a far bigger impact on your lifetime of happiness than her looks at the age you got married. For two... Think about yourself 20, 30, 50 years from now. Nobody you dated is going to look as good down the road as your new wife looks now... And nobody's wife after so many decades is as sexy as any of the girls he dated when they were younger. But by then, th…

I Want Marriage Badly This is natural. God made marriage. It's good. but Believe It Would Only Hinder the God's Purpose for my Life. What Should I Do? Well ... either you are right, or you're wrong about this belief. If you're right, and you understand God's purpose for your life well enough to say with confidence that it would be harmed by marriage, then you should not marry. If you're wrong about it though ... like, if God's purpose for your life, the best version of you that you can be, is a …

I don't know about the specific discussions you're in, but for many people "pure" has connotations of "purity culture" which has taken on a life of its own and in many ways is not really about premarital purity any more. Not everyone, but many people indoctrinated into "purity culture" find that rather than "saving purity" for marriage, they have trained themselves to have a learned, persistent, irrational fear of sex, even after marriage. Couples dealing with this have had significant difficult…

I have no problem if it is in fact both. Many philosophies contain a component of both. I just had an opinion about it, but don't see myself as part of the community so I figured I'd ask. Looks like the community members don't all see it the same way, so maybe it's an open question.

Well, it matters to me because I think that it's important to assert that views can be evaluated factually, without having a discussion on values. Values are inherently subjective, while facts are inherently objective, making them much more eligible for healthy, effective investigation (and sometimes, agreement.)

Yes, she was drunk and that is probably why they convicted the rapist. They had a party. She was drunk at the party. If witnesses at the party can confirm she was drunk, and the rape kit can confirm how long ago the sex happened, then it's not he-said/she-said. Even if you can't confirm whether she was passed out or not, if she's drunk she cannot consent, and that is well-established in law and in common sense. I feel bad for the guy, because because he was also likely intoxicated and if so he d…
