The horror genre as a whole. Any guys who are a little too much into these movies are a big Nope from me. Dated 2 of them and boy were they clueless and mostly self absorbed.

How do you know what my political affiliation is? I did not say. I can still acknowledge he is a predator. But read through the rest of the comments here and tell me again it's not political.

Much appreciated! Also the NSFW option blurs the picture, so may be a good choice too. Sometimes i start reading something and by the time I realize I'll be triggered it's too late because I'm already in that memory.

I am here to support you. Growing as a person isn't always linear and sometimes we just make the best choices we can in the moment. I'm a definite pickmeisha but working hard to know my value and recover from abuse as well. Thank you so much for the kind comment. We are all in this together ❤

I honestly wish you guys wouldn't post screen shots of sexual assault descriptions. For those of us who have been there, it's hard to read this stuff without being triggered.

This is not new. I majored in history. Men have always been like this. For example, the reason prohibition started was because women were tired of their husbands spending all of their money on booze and coming home drunk and beating & raping them. Men could legally rape their wives (U.S.) in most states until the 1990s. Women were not allowed to enter into contracts until the 1960s, so if they left their husbands they would have to find another man to sign for them...think checking accounts, lea…

I agree. I gave my kids their dad's last name and wish I wouldn't have.

I dont think not trusting someone means that you are insecure. Some people are just not trustworthy. Usually our instincts pick up on that before there is "evidence" and that's why it's so important to listen to our feelings about someone. You do not need a reason not to trust someone. We are so much brainwashed about this, myself included. Just know at that time that person has no place in your life.

Yes...you don't trust them. And nothing fixes that.

Girl I think you need a break from men. You sound burned out, and I don't blame you. Sometimes they really friggin suck. Get a dog, a weighted blanket, and a vibrator. You'll be good til you're ready to try again.

I go out alone often. I also feel weird about it. I remind myself of the reasons I'm doing it & focus on the positive. I remind myself that pretty much no one is paying attention to me. I smile at every single person who looks at me and say hi or give a nod. I also find repeating mantras to myself right before I walk in (or after) really boosts my comfort level. Like: "i am a friendly person" "I am so excited to be here" "I am so lucky I get to do this" "I feel peaceful" etc Also: Fake it til yo…

They blame their moms for not protecting them when they were children, or they end up seeing them as weak/repulsive for not being able to protect themselves.

Wear what you want! Dress to feel good. Guys will think any woman is sexy if they want to, i wouldn't worry too much about that. I was thinking more about actions than appearance here.

They do exist! My last LVM‐ex loovveed giving oral and was reallyreally great at it. Probably why I didn't break up with him sooner 🤣

Good for you for blocking him! Maybe you messed up, maybe you didn't. But it sounds like he is definitely not the right one for you and you learned something.

I love this so much. Friendship is number 1 on my list. It may take longer but I'm ok with that.

I hear you for sure! In some ways we (women in general) have lost the ability to say no and we need to take that back. Don't beat yourself up for the things that you learned to survive the sht you were going through. I applaud you on this new journey. You are stronger than you think you are.

Yes express yourself for sure! It is healthy and should feel good. I was hoping to make the distinction between being sexual and sexualizing (objectifying) ourselves.

Make a list of all the things he did that caused you to break up. When you are missing him, read the list. Repeat, repeat, repeat until you feel better. 12 years is a long relationship. I would imagine you have some more time needed to grieve the loss of this old life. Don't rush it. Dating is fine. It will help you move on. Just remove your expectations first. There are several really good TED talks on YouTube that have great break up advice also if that's your thing.

Once the pandemic is over or better, I'd really look into a church. It doesn't have to be uber religious if that's not your thing. Churches are set up for social support. The one I go to had single ladies groups (only for ladies), volunteer outreach programs in other locations, and just a ton of stuff to do with other people. It is set up so that you can make friends.

I love going to concerts by myself! Then you don't have to worry about the person you're with and can just enjoy. Also I love your ideas! Definitely stealing some :D

Thats a tough one. Sometimes siblings are nothing alike. Usually though the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. My ex NVM's family was all kinds of drama but he convinced me (for a while) that he wasn't like that. All lies. And if you're questioning it, I'd go with your gut. There's a reason you are wondering this. Something seems off to you and you need to listen to that.

You said that well. I needed to hear that. I have not once felt in competition (I have felt this before but not with him). I am not a materialistic person but do struggle with regretting past life decisions. I remain committed to walking away at any time. Thank you for this advice!!

Excellent reminder. I have been through therapy, may go back. But I've never found it "cures" you, just gives you tools you didn't have before to be a healthy version of you. Thank you for this!!

Yesss! I have a daughter and a son. I have been single for about a year and a half. They ask me to get a boyfriend from time to time. I let them know about standards. I'm definitely trying with at least my kiddos. When my daughter was 2.5 she asked me very confusedly if it was OK for daddy's to drag mommy's. That was when I decided come hell or high water I am not teaching my kids through my example that that behavior is ok. But I was lucky to get out alive. If we all collectively raise the bar,…

I have had this epiphany also. That I may never get married (again). I was in a long term severely abusive relationship. I finally successfully left (5th try). Went though therapy. Started a new relationship with a "great" guy who only turned around and dumped me as soon as things got hard. My therapist told, during one of my periods of feeling bad for myself, that yes there is a big chance that you will not end up getting married again. There is an "epidemic " of badly behaved men currently. It…

I live in the U.S. I can't do the multiple people thing. I've done it before not really conciously, i just wasn't that into any of the guys. I am older now and feel like I'm being disloyal if I do. It's not my thing. I think the main point is to not get attached immediately, and I can see the value in that. But there are other ways to practice detachment if dating more than 1 person isn't your thing.

Start doing hobbies that interest you and try meeting people from there. Join a church (when they're open again). Whatever you do avoid putting a time limit on yourself for marriage. I did that. It ended in disaster (quite literally). It's ok to be single and have standards. You will never feel more alone than being in a relationship where you settle or feel unfulfilled.

Those are really good points. I wasn't sure about that one re: relating to FDS. I just felt that the female characters all had good attitudes towards being accepting of each other and supportive as women more so. I felt their characters grew over the series so by the end of the last season they were more in line with FDS. Maybe?
