| 2 | Finally got laid by a good womanI am 9 months into separation, 3 months into filing. I decided I needed new experiences with low risk; new references for my brain. I had a very selfish ex wife. Including sexually. So I got on the apps - recently divorced solo dad, not much time, not looking for anything serious or long term. No lies. I got a couple of matches. I am awful at flirting, joking, etc. Got one woman out for coffee while kid had classes, just chatted, felt really strange after 16y. But it was fine, I guess. | 2 | I feel I can definitively say my marriage is doneIt took me around an year of therapy to organize my thoughts and gather the courage. It is funny because I still feel the allure to going back emotionally speaking - but I also know both emotionally and intellectually this isn't gonna work ever. It is just so hard to reject the relationship, but she claims and I feel like I'm rejecting her whole worth as a person (the whole weak self esteem). I tell her I want her to be happy and live a fulfilling life, just not with me. She is trying her hardes… | /r/Divorce_Men | 12/08/25 04:09 PM |
| 2 | I feel I can definitively say my marriage is doneI'd take the suicide threat seriously. Mine went to couples therapy twice - both times, she couldn't be questioned at all. For example, once the therapist (that she picked up after interviewing many; I'd take anyone certified rather than cause a fight) - so, once this therapist pointed I did many great wow things for her and she should be thankful. Then she complained the therapist was clearly falling in love with me (of course after the session, never on front of her)... After years of not bein… | /r/Divorce_Men | 10/08/25 09:48 PM |
| 1 | Did it feel like your S.O. "flipped a switch"?Best comment I think, because you are on the other side perspective. I haven't divorced yet, still considering. However any and every time I say I need her to think and give more and she keeps being selfish just pushes me a bit more selfish as well. She thinks I flipped a switch once (when I went from "all her" to "we, but we means I deserve shit too"), and she will think I have switched it again when I go from "we" to "I'm better alone". | /r/Divorce_Men | 23/07/24 09:07 AM |
| 6 | No more Mr nice guyYes, it actually is. And it is a fine one, no problem. The problem arises when you might have some internal expectation, even inferred expectation. For example, you want to give your wife a foot massage because you feel good seeing her happy -> this is fully a reward However if you give her a foot massage because you feel good seeing her happy and maybe she will give you one back as you love foot massage -> not a reward, there is an implicit reward of reciprocation. Same with giving a meal to a … | /r/Divorce_Men | 04/06/24 01:30 AM |
