Have at least 4 free consultations. Use that time wisely; prep to give a summary of your situation which won't take more than 2-3 min and then ask them how they would approach it. Ask who will handle your case day to days. Often you have partners run the meeting but they may pass it on to a junior right away. Do research beforehand so you can ask targeted questions - 30 min flies by. Then go with your gut. Don't necessarily trust online reviews. And fire them if you don't feel like you're gettin…

This was all amazing advice! Needed to read that. Thanks bro.

No agreeing with Op's stance but for what it's worth, I'm (involuntarily) in that position - recently divorced due to cheating wife with young kids - and the point of females not being attracted is plainly wrong. I've been with/ dated many smart, beautiful and younger women. Misogynistic as it is, (most) women don't care about about me having kids. The other way round is def true tho, most men won't date women with kids

I'm more annoyed by the amount of non-divorced ppl who never went through this but feel like they can tell me how I should act towards ex wife. Nope, keep your opinion to yourself man

I'm sorry to hear that mate. Other than what I said in my post, maybe look into getting new hobbies where you can also meet new friends? I started golfing again and having a blast. Also lost a few friends but as I said, don't really care as doubled down with those friends who matter. And am much closer to family now as well

Having slept on it / read all these comments I think it really is just her trying to alleviate her guilt by pretending everything is good and rewriting the past. But fuck that.

Those will be great memories if you can pull it off - best of luck brother

Thanks so much, all rings true and will keep doing NC. And yeah agree the men also come off badly here. Had a bit of a go at her yesterday as she wanted to change pre-agreed arrangements which would make me pay more for sth. Now that I'm close to the end of the divorce, feels like I can hold back less

Thanks bro - agree and def will do

End in sight bro. Good luck to you too. Already got plans for one last night of self-pity on day of divorce, and then make a steak next evening and get reborn. Had 13m of this trauma and need to move on.

Once divorce is final next week, I'm sending her famiky a message on SM with my side of the story aka the truth. Then I'm deleting the bitch on everything. Hope you're doing OK and great you see behind the mask

Thanks brother - helps to hear. She is still attractive so will def find someone to keep the bed warm but serious relationship? Maybe with someone 10y older (like AP). Meanwhile I'm dating girls in their early 20s... 😉

This is terrible advice. Op needs to make sure post-divorce life is good for him. Don't get ne wrong, it has taken all I got not to punch AP's face into the sidewalk and scorch his life and I'm sure it'll feel temporarily great but then what? Firstly while APs are cunts by definition, it's always the wife who fell for it and betrayed you. Blame lies completely with her. Secondly (in my case AP was her boss), if I do anything to jeopardise her job and hence income I can be on the hook for spousal…

Hey bro - you'll see on here time and time again that women don't leave relationships (esp marriages with kids) without someone else there for them on stand by. Monkey branching it's called. Play amicable, but get a lawyer ASAP (shop around and do at least 5 free consultations), then do what's the best for you and your children which means getting the best deal possible for you and 50/50 with the kids. And as hard as it sounds, try not to think ab9ut them when they're with her / AP and be the be…

I am flabbergasted by your therapist's statement. That's a huge generalisation. They may get a better deal in most divorces but I'd like to believe men come out the other side better
/r/Divorce_Men01/03/24 04:11 PM
2

I had a bunch of free consultations with various lawyers in my city. Ended up really connecting with a very intelligent Partner at a mid-sized firm. She had loads of ideas, advice and is hungry. She leads my case herself instead of passing me onto an Associate. Costs a lot more but worth it, alone with some of the mistakes she found from previous lawyers. Process to change was v easy. They can guide you through that also
/r/Divorce_Men24/02/24 11:22 AM
5

Everyone is giving amazing advice here. My adds: 1) Use this forum. It's been a life-saver 2) SHOP AROUND for both lawyers and individual therapy. I've had to change both throughout the process. Re lawyers, make sure you get senior exposure ie Partners. More expensive but pays off in the end. Re IC, make sure they are experienced in trauma and do not push you to Reconciliation. You had zero role in her cheating. There is no justification. She could've always broken things off with you first but …

Yup here too. STBXW even claimed her therapist thought her cheating on me may have been something she had to do (ie justifying that crap)
/r/Divorce_Men07/02/24 09:49 AM
2

I'm sorry, but I disagree completely. Not once did I imply they don't like spending time with me. If anything they open up to me more and have a lot more issues and fights with their mom. I will never not be in their lives as much as I can
/r/Divorce_Men28/01/24 08:08 AM

Agreed, thanks bro
/r/Divorce_Men27/01/24 09:51 PM

Thanks man. Kids are already in therapy. I may be gullible, but I don't think this is coming from her. She's way too proud to admit her mistakes and probably still thinking she can do better. Will ask my lawyer tho
/r/Divorce_Men27/01/24 09:23 PM
1

Thanks man. The benefits of two days etc worked for a while but now they're complaining that they don't like the constant swap overs and just want everyone to be together which sucks... Good point on what to say tho. Cheers

Yeah thanks but no thanks! Haha how stupid of an idea.

I go NC insofar possible with shared small kids. I only ever talk to her about kids and then only via text unless it's urgent eg medical issues. Originally she wanted to have a weekly call re kids organisation but I killed that off as don't want to hear her voice. Swap overs mostly done via Childminder so don't need to see her more than once per week for weekend swap. Don't talk to mutual friends who took her side (how?!) or play Switzerland as don't need that in my life (I have enough good frie…

I fired my first (male) therapist because he was advocating reconciliation indirectly and talked about how I should have sympathy for the cheating STBXW when she got sad. Second (female) therapist was much better. Hope that helps

Ex claims this is for kids only and that she wants to help them. How did / do you do handovers? I focus 100% on kids, talk to her only if anything urgent (everything else can be dealt with via text) and that's it!

I'm sorry you're here bro. Similar situation with STBXW wanting to move out to "find herself'. Upon my (female) boss's suggestion I did some digging and found out she was cheating on me for months. It's gonna suck reading this but chances are yours did too, if only emotional affairs. You read these stories over and over again on here. Women monkey branch and don't leave a relationship before knowing they have sth else they can pursue. Your comment about having to 'play nice' until divorce also r…

I resent that statement (no offence) as it puts the woman on a pedestal. Like a talk show where the woman goes round deciding who she gets next with the men having no power. It may be true in divorce but I think ilthose women that do this are just poison. Somehow I still haven't given up on the idea of true love and thatbthere are goof women out there. Naiive, yeah I know...

I love my kids to death and will never ever regret having them with cheating STBXW but as others say, it's a blessing that you didn't have kids with her cuz it makes everything so much shittier. The daily contact with the ex prevents you from going full NC. The kids crying at swapovers. The "I miss mommy" at bedtime. It sucks so hard. Be glad it wasn't with you bud some other poor douche who will now have to go through that...
/r/Divorce_Men15/09/23 06:50 AM
5

This one hit me hard about feeling like a failure to your kids. I also always viewed divorced families negatively / sad for the children and tried my best to never make my own kids go through it. STBXW wanted kids before marriage, I said no because I wanted the reassurance of (what I thought) marriages give you. Alas she cheated on me anyway after marriage and 2 kids... now she destroyed my kids' foundation and they're suffering heavily. Breaks my heart
/r/Divorce_Men04/09/23 08:30 PM
7

Similar here also. Fucking crazy how we all have the same experiences. STBXW's best friend had been complaining about her guy for a good year to us. Shirtly after our separation (she cheated with her boss, gas lit me, trickle truth, the whole common shebang), her best friend also dunped her own guy. Almost certain they planned on doing it together. Funny enough her friend got back together with her hubby and my wife's AP dumped her. I'd enjoy the karma if my kids weren't suffering so much....
/r/Divorce_Men04/09/23 08:16 PM
1

No according to my lawyers they don't count in my country...
/r/Divorce_Men01/09/23 12:42 AM
3

I'm the same boat as you also. The entire loss of control is a big theme for me in the divorce. SHE trickle truthed me, SHE decided what SHE thinks I should know about the affair even after she finally admitted it, SHE has all the power in the financial settlement in my country. I can't even tell her how much I hate her for what she's done to my and our kids for fear of repercussions in the settlement. Its just so unfair. I too want the opportunity to tell her to f off if she ever tries / mentio…

I'm in the same boat. 3 months past d day and I hate myself for still being attracted to her after all the shit she did to me and our kids. What helps me is to remember (i) all her negative sides and clear character flaws i.e. she's not a nice person and (ii) I had her in her prime all the way through her twenties and early 30s and she's deteriorating fast now and (iii) her AP is a good 10y older than her at least and I'm meeting girls 10-12y younger than me (they're all in their 20s) hahaha Goo…

Then you should've divorced and started a new life. I see no reason whatsoever that justifies it. You have no idea the kind of trauma it causes
/r/Divorce_Men07/06/23 05:47 PM
10

Zero sympathies from me here mate. There are always other ways ie you could have divorced her. Cheating is a cowards way out. Most men on here deal with the aftermath of having their life crushed by their spouse and in my book you're one of the bad guys
/r/Divorce_Men06/06/23 03:38 PM
3

My wife said that also and then turned out she had an affair and clearly wanted to see which one to pursue (us or him). Don't do it. This is cheater textbook stuff
/r/Divorce_Men08/05/23 10:52 AM

Thanks for sharing - that is very helpful to read. In my case it was 14 years (though only 7 married). May I ask whether you have kids and if so how you dealt with that? We do so unfortunately she'll remain a part of my life forever...
/r/Divorce_Men03/05/23 12:17 PM

This may sound silly but I found a song that oddly really helps me. "I hope she cheats" from Tory Rines. Clearly its the wrong way around but still very helpful. Maybe check it out and the other divorce playlists on Spotify

Man your post really hit hard. I hope you're OK Bro. Similar position here. Just trying to get my frustrations out at the gym and day dreaming about all the beautiful women I see 😊

Man I'm sorry. I think this her way of dealing with the guilt.

Agreed. Think they may be undergoing some sort of early midlife crisis.

I have this fear also. My STBXW is def hot but she's also the one that cheated on me. She also ages terribly (wrinkles fought with Botox helps but saggy boobs and wrinkly tummy, not like you could tell when she's dressed up). Her mom looks 80 at 60. Like others said I'm hopeful that I'm a good package - mid 30s, high paying job, house, motorcycle, got my life on track and I'm not the cheater. My brother created a fake tinder profile so we could scout the area and there are so many beautiful wome…

Thanks mate. None of that and I even have access to her phone etc but won't check as feels intrusive without any evidence. She hasn't booked Airbnb but I'm sure she'll tell me where. She offered to share childcare for the period of her staying away but agreed to my suggestion of leaving them with me so as to not disrupt their normal routines.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
