This is a really good point actually and I've been mulling it over (I'm 42f for context) scrolling down the thread. Could is be that the definition of what is chivalrous in previous generations, is outdated by today's standards? For example, I was raised by my nan, who dated in the 50s and expected her date to walk her round and open the passenger door for her, for example, and expected a date to greet the parents before taking her on a date? This being in an era with more defined classical gend…

Exactly, beauty standards are subjective and I think filters and photosshop and the likes lead people to think women look like this irl. I don't know if that's why there's sometimes comments about what is reported about online and 'Chads' etc and what people see irl or OLD becoming difficult to moderate re it specifically being used for dating rather than promotion of fan sites etc and men feeling scammed? I'm not sure how or when it became like this now. I just feel like particularly on PPD, th…

I can understand that if you are wanting sex and not being able to find a partner that you're mutually attracted to must be very frustrating. I can understand from a woman's perspective who has been single for several years after a LTR, that being single can and is incredibly lonely at times, particularly if you become over fixated on pop culture and social media and forums (and feeling a massive lump of FOMO). What I can assure you is that. One occasion of sex is not going to be the be all and …

You're very correct and I think this is where everyone especially those who become hostile about it need to recognise that when someone calls out a group or faction, they aren't calling out the individual they are talking to about it. Likewise when the issue of male DV is brought up it isn't taking away the attention deserved to female victims of DV. The only way I have tried to make a comparison in the past is by saying that the charity 'Help the Aged' is not asking you to compete with 'Save th…

I'm so sorry and thank you to you as well. This is something that has affected men in my life personally and I know how horrific this must be, because I know how unbearable it was to hear, from a male work acquaintance who confided in me. It is something I find emotional to hear when I know how few men have the courage to speak to someone or share an experience, in comparison to the reality that I see in my profession (and how diluted down that amount of men must be again). I am so sorry you are…

I was actually talking about this with someone the other day. As all too often, because of groups like you've discussed, women can be categorised into being perceived as supporting them when we hate them as much as the men they hate. Radical feminism is so predatory and incidious, as it talks about issues women agree are abhorrent (eg rape and honour killings) and then twist that into this meaning any agreement of theirs means being in support of them. No we are not... I hate radicalism of this …

Definitely particularly in terms of DV and the perceived stigma attached to it from victims. Even the most liberal and modern men with incredibly progressive views on almost anything else, finds it uncomfortable to disclose and is only taken seriously in healthcare settings in the most serious circumstances. My opinion on this is from my professional experience and opinions I've had to challenge from colleagues. However, I don't find that this lack of empathy is felt by individual women at all w…

There is this valid point yes. But it wasn't until I joined reddit that I realised there was also sometimes a negative connotation to the term. Tbh, when I replied to this, I didn't actually register that 'Man A' was a redditor definition of a 'nice guy' and took it on face value. I guess, because like you say 'Man A' wasn't telling people he was a nice guy, it was simply who someone else (you) had described him.

Not for a huge number of women. Indifference is a deal breaker for me. I don't expect to be put on a pedestal, but I wouldn't behave indifferently towards someone important to me and if there's already indifference at the beginning, I wouldn't expect it to do anything but worsen.

Definitely not B. Actions speak louder than words, and if he's indifferent half the time, I would predict this would only get worse not better over time. Re saying he's no longer a player, although I prefer to trust someone, unless given good reason not to, I think the indifference would be the deal breaker anyway. I think being considerate and thoughtful over time are the most romantic things I can think of tbh and being indifferent is antithetical to that. A would be someone I'd be willing to …
