As you wish.

Well said. That makes a lot of sense.

No worries at all. This entire thread has challenged my thoughts on a lot of things, and made me re-examine my reasoning for seeing certain aspects of relationships a certain way. And you're right; I'm not much of a commitment guy, honestly. I don't want to get married. I travel...like, as a lifestyle. I just constantly move. It's fun for me, and always keeps things fresh and interesting. That said, it's not good for long term stuff, so I'm only looking for casual relationships. In a casual rela…

I agree, to an extent -- however, I'd feel a bit odd starting a relationship with a girl who only chose me because I could make her happier. If you're looking for something serious, that's a bad precedent. What's the expression? "If they'll cheat with you, they'll cheat on you."

Very good points all around. For me, it's not a matter of considering women are property -- it's more a matter of respecting the agreement of two other people, of man and woman. A relationship is an agreement to be together, for however long; I don't feel it is my place to try to dissolve the arrangement. However, I do like the idea one person suggested: asking if it's serious. Something along the lines of, "Oh, well, you never know what'll happen in the future. Take my number anyway!"

That's alright. Ladies love a man in touch with his sensitive side.

Ah, I read through the entire thread. Well, up to page 23 so far. He begins wondering when to use them, and see some success with them -- however, it's a very polarizing technique. Some of the girls laugh and are open to his advances. However, others grow colder and walk away. In any case, it wasn't so much what they are, as to the idea of using them when a man should present enough value on his own that they're unnecessary.

I'm sorry. Did something I say threaten you? Is that why you felt the need to turn to juvenile insults? I'm more than happy to have a discussion with you about the topic, but let's do it like adults.

No, as I said, I was in my teens. She and I broke up because of a number of factors, and neither one of us met anyone new for a while after that. For her, it was because she was still in her teens; I had just turned 18 and was heading off to college. And as for your example, his seduction sounds a lot more like rape. But thank you for illustrating the point; it does make a lot more sense now. Another user expressed concern that I'm a troll, but I'm honestly just trying to wrap my head around the…

Thanks for the reply. I tend to agree with you; while I'm not looking for anything serious, someone else might be -- and on the off chance that this girl may have just had a fight with her boyfriend, be angry with him, or for whatever reason, I don't want to tempt her to do something she may regret later.

You raise a fair point. Someone looking for a serious relationship isn't likely to cheat, if they really want long term.

Sure! I first heard the term here. I believe it was the second or third top post from yesterday, about the guy making 150 approaches.

Thanks for the response. I'm aware that my own morality is not an absolute. However, it doesn't make sense to ask me to embrace another morality that I disagree with if on a quest for self improvement. In any case, I've got no issues with polygamy, as long as both parties are aware of it. Open relationships can be a lot of fun, particularly if you aren't looking for something serious.

http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=concern+troll Concern troll, eh? That's a new one, but I've seen people do it before. Nice to have a name to put to the technique. In any case, believe what you will. I'm new to this idea of pickup, and I've done a lot of reading -- much of which conflicts with itself. There seem to be two types of pickup artists: men who are confident in themselves and naturally attract women, and men who simply want to get their dick wet and throw morality out the…

I certainly agree with the last statement. However, I do believe that there are people who are looking for one person to settle down with -- and I also believe that they have a chance of finding them. To imply that every woman in existence would be unfaithful seems far-fetched.

Thanks for the response. It's an interesting way to look at it, for sure, and I can understand your perspective. While I can see benefiting from it, I personally would feel guilty doing that to another guy. I've been in their shoes before, and it sucks -- sure, it was a learning experience, but there I don't want to be the cause.

Thanks, man! Whenever someone says anything that initially irritates me, I always pause and try to figure out why it bothered me -- and then respond calmly. Getting bent out of shape never improves a situation.

I appreciate the response, but I've got to disagree with you. Isn't one of the tenants of this subreddit (or self-improvement, I mean) about not putting others down? Your 'old loser bf' statement seems to go against it. I'm well aware of how relationships work. However, I'm also aware that the world isn't black and white, as you seem to think -- this comment, and your other reply below, seems to indicate you think there are only two ways something can happen. The world isn't binary.

I agree, and thanks for the reply. When I was younger (in my teens, I mean) and some overconfident prick would come swaggering up, trying to flirt with my girlfriend, she's usually shut him down pretty fast. It never bothered me that guys hit on her, but the fact they tried to act like any other man besides themselves didn't exist always came off as dickish.

That makes sense. Thanks for the input; I appreciate it.

Physical attraction is hardly as important as the illusion of attraction you build around yourself. The most repulsive man in the world can be attractive if he knows what he's doing. Take care of yourself, be confident, basically do what this sub says. Your statement makes it sound like you don't think you're attractive, which comes across as unconfident -- and I'm willing to bet that comes through in your day to day behavior. When you go up to a girl, you build attraction. Sometimes it works, s…

No worries, man, but thanks for the word of warning. I avoid the major cities, since all that ever happens there is prostitution. It's in smaller towns, meetings friends of friends, where I get the most attention. And even if they are gold diggers, so what? I'm not looking for long-term here, and they know that from the start.

I'd love to hear what you have to say about Vietnam. I'm here for another month, and while I get approached by girls on a regular basis, I'm completely new to this, and have NO clue how to take it farther -- especially considering the rules against foreigners and Vietnamese girls.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
