I mean the fact you stayed when you stopped having sex is incredible. Maybe she was hoping you would leave her. I think she fell out of love with you and/or decided she didn’t want to have kids with you. But the fact she kept moving to different methods of communication should show you she doesn’t respect you. Cut your losses. Forget the length of time you’ve been married and just leave. She clearly doesn’t care for the marriage so why should you? As a guy you’ve got the luxury of being a father…

She’s already out the door. There’s no use yanking her back in. Take solace there’s no kids involved in this. You can just walk away.

Body autonomy is a thing. If he don’t want it, he don’t have it. Simple. Same thing would be said for an abortion or tubes tied.

I agree physical attraction is important but at no point have you actually said you love this person. If the physical attraction/sex is that important, it may be best to walk away for your sake to find what you feel is important. And for her sake to be with someone who actually loves them.

You sure it weren’t r/deadbedrooms ? I’ve found r/deadbedroom to be ten times better - I got banned from the former and I found it to be “women’s empowerment” as mentioned above

The fact you’re on a divorce sub says what you’re already thinking. Honestly I think you’re gonna cheat if you don’t divorce her. If you think you can bag someone in better shape that you’ll actually love, then good luck.

You sure that wasn’t r/deadbedrooms as opposed to the one mentioned above? r/deadbedrooms is notorious for being how you described.

I mean he’s right there are two sides. But that doesn’t mean he’s entitled to know yours.

Did she say “there’s two sides to every story” or did he say that. If she said it, then she’s actively acknowledging that you will have a different viewpoint and she is comfortable with the new bf knowing that you will (whether she is happy with you telling it is a different story). If he said it, he’s fishing behind her back. Is there any other reason he would be able to get hold of your number outside of her giving it to you… perhaps he went through her phone and got it instead? I would be sus…

Cheeky look on your profile, you’re from England (me too) Can I ask what this cult was? I appreciate this comment isn’t initially supportive to what you’re going through and I wanna acknowledge that, I’m just curious

You need a bit of time to heal. There’s nothing wrong with a lifetime of being single, there’s nothing wrong with finding (hopefully) the right person. Likely this relationship has done a massive number on you.

Can I also recommend r/deadbedroom - not to slate any sub but I have heard of issues with the other sub which forged this one to be created. I would recommend both regardless. I think there’s one called r/sexlessmarriage

She’s happy with the status quo. That’s why she’s not taking it well. You’ve decided you’re not happy. IMO once the separation card is played it’s nearly impossible to take back. Be aware of something called hysterical bonding, where suddenly she’ll want to shower you with love and sex to get you to stay. As soon as she’s comfortable you’re not going anywhere it’ll dwindle again. Stick to your guns. You deserve happiness. Edit: reading through the comments from yourself, my only criticism of you…

She’s pushed you to this point. Look into hysterical bonding if you haven’t already.

The moment she plays the “we’re finished” card; assume it’s finished even if she backtracks. She’s willing to say it, she either wants you to bend to her will or she’s already thought about it anyway. If she’s genuinely wanting a divorce because you don’t do enough around the house, that’s pathetic. Unless you’re literally bone idle lazy but from what you’ve told us, seems like she’s just done with the marriage. Make sure you get what’s due from the split in terms of dividing the asset. Sounds l…

Yeah I’m a bit surprised you meet her. I don’t see the benefit to this… Literal separation/severance from her may help you understand your feelings better and then perhaps rekindle your desire for intimacy?

Best thing you did was get out of an abusive/dead bedroom marriage. That itself is worth its weight in gold. Hopefully the community can help offer advice or be a sounding board for the harder things you’re experiencing.

Better he does it here in a relatively harmless subreddit than actually does something irl. It’s the equivalent of screaming into a pillow.

Get a lawyer and work out your options.

Why did you need to change/improve to keep up with her? Sounds like she’s been trying to change you to what she thinks is ideal and then doesn’t like the end result or got bored? Why won’t she initiate the divorce? Get a lawyer and present the situation to them and see what they say. She could be leading you into a trap. Don’t get me wrong; this marriage is done/doomed. But you shouldn’t dance to her tune, you should work out what works for you. You have to start thinking for yourself.

And yet you’ve got women on r/Waiting_to_wed going mental their man isn’t proposing to them. And the likelihood these men see what’s happened to generations of men before them and don’t wanna put themselves through it.

Be grateful this happened at 26. Better she’s cutting you loose instead of watching a marriage spiral. It sucks. I won’t sugarcoat it. But you’ll forge a new path. Right now. Take each hour as it comes, and then eventually they’ll get easier and you’ll get through the days. If you need some time from work, take it. Find solace in friendships, hobbies, TV etc. Make sure you give yourself a clean break too. when the divorce is actually finalised, consider blocking her. One day she’s gonna find som…

I suspect 2 things 1) if applicable their kids and not wanting their kids to see that side to them 2) an outlet, usually physical. Gym/sport typically.

Give her the autonomy she craves. She can be in charge of her own finances too since she wants autonomy from you, she shouldn’t want a penny from you either. Stand your ground. The marriage is done. Also what are you supposed to have done that she can’t forgive?

What does this woman actually do? Besides marry you, have two children, go to uni when you two were together and earn 15% of the household bills… what does she do? I’d drop her for your own peace of mind.

Why are you moving out? Also now that you have proof of an affair will that change your stance on it being an uncontested divorce?

She can leave. Tell her where to go. Arrange meetings with a lawyer. Move assets into your name. DO NOT MOVE OUT.

“My wife asked for the divorce last night.” “It’s my house, but I let her stay” Something is wrong with this picture. Here’s your advice. Kick her to the curb and take back your property. She ended this. She should suffer the consequences of that action.

Yes YTA. You move on. She moves on. You did something for her on V Day in the past because you were married. You’re not anymore. Get over her.

The power is completely in her hands when it shouldn’t be. As debilitating as it may be to have a parent who is like that, as long as you are there for them you can do wonders for them. Can you provide a safe environment for them? Can you document when she’s been abusive? Could you sustain them on your own should you get the majority of custody? You are in charge of your future and have the ability to have the power in this situation.

That’s when you should have left imo. Obviously every circumstance is unique and some people are not willing to end the marriage for the sake of their kids. But you are entitled to a happy relationship with the right partner. My view is that kids pick up on unhappiness. You say you don’t wanna leave the kids with her 50% of the time. Is that because you don’t feel she’s safe?

“Wife threatens divorce” was all I needed to read. Divorce her instead. General motto for me, if my partner makes a serious comment about ending the relationship, it’s done.

In many ways there’s an element of gratitude you can take for her taking a swift exit. You can just crack on with life now.

Well look at it this way, she’s unshackled of you, you’re unshackled of her, you have what you need to rebuild. It’s never really a win. The marriage sadly failed but would you prefer to be here or one/both of you in an unhappy marriage?

Just because she swore on your son’s life she wasn’t dating anyone at the time, doesn’t mean it’s still true now. Also her interpretation of “dating” could be different to yours. It fits for her to twist the narrative. Also, what does swearing on your son’s life actually mean? It’s just words. Easier said than done but just move on. It’s done. If she isn’t dating now, she will be at some point. Be there for your kid(s).

Only question I have is, are you friends with these people? It is a bit weird you haven’t been enquired with but I don’t know if it’s worth nuking your marriage over. I think I’d be more offended by the fact she doesn’t want to spend her 40th with her family.

You now know she wants this. You have to go into protection mode for yourself. Make sure you’re civil for the kids at Christmas. Protect your assets and interests and be there for your kids. Once the dust settles, you rebuild. Easier said than done, but that’s how it has to be. Don’t take her back. And don’t fight to have her back (she’s made this decision, you both have to live with it)

You have to prioritise you. You deserve happiness. Your kids will understand, especially if they’re that age.

All you can do is let him learn for himself. It’s his choice and his mistake. If you meddle then you’ll be the bad guy here before she’s actually done anything bad. Hopefully you can keep your door open for the guy to talk with you but keep it respectful of their relationship. I mean he may enjoy being her lap dog, in which case everyone is happy.

Have you got proof of anything? Has she got anything to prove her claims. If you have proof and she doesn’t, it’ll bode well for you. Start shifting your assets from her. It’s time to rebuild.

The fact a professional is stating that she is the issue should say all that needs to be said. Children should not be the reason an (unhappy) marriage stays together. The kids pick up on your unhappiness, and you deserve to be happy. This is what family court is for. Fight for your kids and your happiness.

Leave this petty woman. The fact she blocked you over this is pathetic. Get your stuff, leave, let her be someone else’s problem. Out of curiosity, are her family okay with you? Do they know she did this?
