Need some help, I dodged the marriage bullet, but worried that I may have thrown my happiness away.I don't want to go through the legal system either. It seems like you're having a hard time understanding my situation because you are reflecting your personal experiences onto mine. By refusing to either take custody or help pay for daycare he is stopping me from leaving because the only other alternative is to abandon my home and job and move into a shelter. And this is a situation that I wish to avoid. I do not want to be a victim. I do not want to lose my home. I do not want to live in a she… | /r/MensRights | 14/09/10 04:36 PM
Need some help, I dodged the marriage bullet, but worried that I may have thrown my happiness away.I don't want it to be that way. I don't want that kind of hostility in my life. Taking him to court would only make him angrier and even more irrational. I don't know what he would do and I don't want to find out. | /r/MensRights | 14/09/10 03:37 PM

She has different terms and they are just as reasonable and honorable to her. They are both entitled to seek someone with similar terms and desires. Neither one of them should have to change for the other. Which is why I feel he should leave her alone and find someone else. | /r/MensRights | 14/09/10 03:34 PM |
Need some help, I dodged the marriage bullet, but worried that I may have thrown my happiness away.I know that I need to stand up to him, but I'm alone in this state. My family is hundreds of miles away, so I have no one able to help me. His family is local, and they've told me that they want us to stay together. | /r/MensRights | 14/09/10 03:30 PM
Need some help, I dodged the marriage bullet, but worried that I may have thrown my happiness away. You are not my child. And I am not your parent. I've offered him custody. He told me he can't take her because he has to work. I told him that I would help him pay for daycare. He told me he won't pay anything towards daycare because he wants me watching our son. There is a difference between wanting to stay in your child's life and wanting to keep the mother in your life and that is what he is doing. | /r/MensRights | 14/09/10 03:26 PM
Need some help, I dodged the marriage bullet, but worried that I may have thrown my happiness away.LOL. I'm sorry, I just had to laugh. As far as cost is concerned, I already stated that I do not want an expensive ceremony or ring. All I wanted was a ceremony where our families (both quite traditional) could have a chance to celebrate our bond. His refusal had nothing to do with cost and everything to do with not wanting a commitment. And I respect that which is why I no longer want that anymore, at least not with him. He is vindictive enough to threaten my livelihood by refusing to watch his… | /r/MensRights | 13/09/10 08:48 PM
Need some help, I dodged the marriage bullet, but worried that I may have thrown my happiness away.I am a woman who was in a similar position as your GF. Only I didn't want a legal marriage. I wanted to have a non-legal ceremony in which we would be be "partnered" in front of our friends and families. There would be rings involved but reasonably priced, no diamonds. Purely symbolism with no legal strings or huge bill. He refused. He claimed that I was asking him to give up his freedom yet I could (and still do not) understand how. At first I was hurt by his decision, as we already live togeth… | /r/MensRights | 13/09/10 04:50 PM
