Paternity fraud is a categorically higher level of betrayal than infidelity, as heartbreaking as cheating can be. It’s difficult because while I understand your feeling, you put forward some good examples of men’s legitimate struggles with the matter. I find this is a good litmus for determining things along these lines. Supposing you had both a son and daughter who you adored and wanted the best for. In that world what should he/she do, what should their hypothetical partner do, and how should …

Okay, you sound reasonable based on your response. Imagine you were dating a man in the early stages and he said no matter who he married on day, if they had kids he’d want a paternity test on principle. Not because she didn’t pass some threshold of trustability (why marry her otherwise), but because he felt men have just as much of a right to parental certainty as woman do. I’m imagining myself in a situation where I had a wife I loved and trusted and I’d still want a test done. That and no man…

Well yeah. What you described is expected and not what I or other people (but especially men) are occupied with. Every person you date isn’t some imperative to do your damndest to mesh and aim for the white picket fence and 2.5 kids. I’m taking about 2 adults deeply in love, who have their shit together, who are compatible emotionally and practically, and then after due time and diligence make a commitment to each other. Then 5-10 years later someone crashes down they grew ever so much and their…

Is it? Is our will not at least often a significant factor? I concede there are definitely times people grow apart. Like two people going nowhere in life but one of them starts to grow and develop a meaningful life for themselves and the other refuses to. There are times when the other person ether changes for the worse or shows their true colors they were hiding all along. Sometimes though, I wonder if reflection and pro active appreciation is the secret sauce to keeping the sparks alive. Inste…

Many women may lose desire for one reason or another and let the relationship die slowly however. I have been that younger man. I can imagine it rather intimately and know what the mindset is. What I am now I don’t know. More mature but not confident in my maturity, whereas I was confident in a way in my immaturity. I imagine you’re mostly right, but all I can say is crazypants comes from a difficult place and needs healing.

Okay, I could easily be wrong about why you feel strongly about it. “Definitely” was too strong a word and if I’m being less assuming it just seems important to you in some way. I wish alternatives to what you’re describing was something that no one need ever be wary of. Unfortunately, there are definitely reasons for people to be with other people other than good faith genuine attraction.

No, what I’m saying it’s something I’d like to make a go at doing and hope id be good at, but you have to pick your battles in life. I “want” to have and do a lot of things that I probably shouldn’t think are feasible unless I really really aim for it. For instance, a woman might want to be a stay at home mom but 2 incomes are too necessary in the couples economic situation. That might be a fair and willingly given sacrifice, but it’s a sacrifice. Life’s full of those.

That’s one way to put it. While having a family is a goal, being a stay at home dad is not something I’m absolutely set on. Which is a really good thing because that’d be a huge limiting factor in my dating pool. I’m sure you can imagine all the things that would be unusual to have to align for that to work. I can think of like 10 instantly but top of mind would be being respected as a man in that role (I am not a submissive of feminine leaning man) and society creating a frame where even if she…

You’ve definitely experienced that before based on you mentioning it in under this post several times. It’s an interesting question. To me it begs the question “how did he come to have those hang ups and what can be done do to work through them?”. What do you feel the answer to that would be?

Uh, anecdotal but this man certainly has thought about it. I’d like to have a family and I feel the raising and enjoyment of said family could be a much more rewarding and direct way of feeling fulfilled and doing right by them. I might not ever care to express that musing irl because the vast majority of women would take issue with that on some level.

Right, but your previous comment talks about your issue with the term “childless” in so far as it connotes something pejorative. Neither word is neutral.

Adding “free” at the end of a word connotes a thing being unladen by an undesirable element. Fat-free, gluten-free, guilt-free etc. It just seems like a tit for tat in to “childless” imo.

Posting a placeholder comment to actually fill out in a reply later. This is an excellent post. “I know nothing, but I’m likely conjecturing pretty damn well ma bitches!” kind of vibe. It’s exhausting trying to write even a few paragraphs in this style, and you are better than me at this when I take time to be intentional. I’m presently a neet. Partially wrote what I’m doing lately, then deleted it because the Veracity/Accurate assessment of that without taking time to write details is a catch 2…

Self reported stats. On a matter that is often both internally and externally a thing women usually want to keep from floating around their own mind or the minds of others. They’re going to be inaccurate because of human nature. When people lie about something, the goal is to intentionally misrepresent things to ether advantage themselves or to avoid scrutiny or consequences. Yes, in the end you can only do your best to vet partners in due diligence establish agreed upon ground rules and trust.

I know this isn’t my debate, and I’m not trying to be in your face with this comment because both of you are in my mind being relatively civil for this sub, but, stats? Really? No one needs stats to justifiably declare men commit murder at a higher rate. We all know it even if it’s almost (not all almost) exclusively men who are abnormally high in aggression and deeply maladjusted. Likewise, comon, in good faith no one needs stats to know a considerable enough amount of women lie about n counts …

How so? I’m a guy and posted about a guy problem. Unless you think envy and anger about the matter is virtuous. EDIT: ah, the starting the comment by your gender bit. Yes I did fail to do that. It may have been the least important thing I wrote for sure but I admit I failed to do it.

What?! Murder is the unjustified killing of another human being. Are you saying it’s unjustified? I mean you could make that argument, but it’s also a matter of deterrence as well. I’m all on board with your, let’s all just not do that idea. I think it’s more a matter what to do when people do it anyway? How does one respond to a world that obstinately and unflinchingly carries on trivializing and circumventing what’s due to people, if they can get away with it?

No no! Your right in putting that forward! I think it’s important to recognize what you’re asking rhetorically. The thing is (and I speak only for myself) of the first four cons you mentioned, in a heartbeat. Thinking in my own (and this is admittedly more masculine leaning perspective) I’d say there’s a certain dignity and honor in meaningful suffering, and strength in handling a burden gracefully. Shorter fertility window, is a yup too because I’ve known I wanted a family since adolescence. Fi…

You could obviously say “not all men!” but for men as a class, this rings true. It’s the reason I’m one of those guys who while not effeminate, still gravitate towards female friends (even if as a man, some of the more feminine silliness sometimes makes my head explode.) I just rarely feel other men will allow themselves to form a brotherly bond, or be there for you when your down. All around good men tend to still have a lot of this trait. Problem is, women are understandably leery about being …

I made it more prominent by putting it in parentheses and right at the top, but it was in the rules to start with. While I feel everyone should have read it, at the same time I do partially blame myself for not making the prompt more concise. People do tend to simply skim things and I’ve been guilty of doing that myself. As for calling out, don’t take it personally. It’s just because I’m just a regular Reddit user, and I don’t have the time or energy to actively monitor and respond to each rule …

This may be fudging my own rules just a little bit but I’m justifying it to myself because I think it still fits the spirit of the prompt. Ladies, I genuinely want to thank you for some of ya’ll responses! My honest hope is this is cathartic for both genders and it I know both genders just sometimes want to freaking hear it said (or read) aloud and candidly! I hope you all feel the same way with our posts as well. PS I accidentally initially put this as a reply under a woman’s comment. I immedia…

We lie. The truth is we must be manage to find a level of contentment being single to make achieving status doable and palatable. We aren’t doomed to misery during that time, but a measured and acceptable contentment is not happiness.

I feel like that’s not quite “painfully honest” unless you describe a core and shameful truth about why we (most of us have done it in the past, whether we still do or not) do it.

I think I understand you’re trying to describe negative behavior in the second bit, but please clarify that’s what you mean a little more. If not, then please reread the rules about what is allowed.

Okay heres one I loathe to admit because knowledge is power, and this concerns a matter where men feel vulnerable (even if we have strengths in other areas). I think it’s truthful to say most men have a part of them that holds a degree of envy and and, under certain situations, anger, about the power female sexuality holds, and how they were given that power so early and freely. By and large, we often achieve so that we are selected, and we wish we could turn the tables magically and universally…
