Being able to understand the viewpoint of someone who disagrees with you is a very important ability Exactly. I feel like half the problems we have between any two "factions" (gender, race, politics, etc) is that people assume that the other person is simply ignorant. Everyone feels like they have a perfect reason to feel the way they do. Being able to understand that reason and refute it rationally is how to work with other people. Otherwise it's just returning bullets in a never ending battle.

This could go either way. For one, they're starting open discussions, and I think that's great. Having a place where adolescent boys or girls can talk openly about anything is very important. On the other hand, they talked about "deconstructing" their views of what it is to be a man. The ideals they will be teaching them could very easily be a bad thing.

I'm assuming she's a terrible feminist as far as ideals. She said she doesn't even believe in the patriarchy theory. Doesn't sound like a feminist to me. Edit: also, personally I try to avoid labels. If she proves herself to be a misandrist, I'll treat her as such. Most feminists are misandrists, but if she hasn't said anything here to say she is a misandrist then I'm sorry if I "don't have a backbone" but i find no reason to put up a wall against her.

I feel like this assumes that MRAs and Feminists operate in similar ways, but just opposite ends of the spectrum. I feel like that is not the case. And I'm not saying that in a "MRA is good, feminism is bad". I just mean the two groups operate differently IMO
