Yeah - Solo and Skywalker get redemption

I know what you're talking about - there are definitely examples of this. But there are also glaring examples of aggrandizement of men as noble and strong protectors of women. Have you seen Tenet? That film is all about two heroic men one of whom protects a woman the other who spoiler: sacrifices himself to save his best friend. Also if you watch the next film in the series of The Last Jedi, you see that the male characters aren't weak. Maybe its sometimes easy to mistake displaying weak charact…

Nietzsche is just more Satanism with a different flavor. Ummmm... well I teach Nietzsche to undergrads, and I'm telling you he's not. If you think he's in any way similar to satanism you're reading him on face value and not looking at the underlying philosophical work he's doing. You're probably the kind of person who watches 'Gods Not Dead' and thinks that the philosophy professor was doing his job properly. You seem to be defining satanism as anything other than christian values. the only thin…

No, I wasn't trying to make a 'gotcha moment'. It wasn't clear what you meant by the 'satanic mindset'; it was a vague description. Yes I can judge the whole of christianity based on the catholic church because, back then, it still held most of the sway over christianity. I dislike it when protestants try to distance themselves from the catholics. If anything the catholics have more of a claim to authority because they were the first body of christ. Maybe it doesn't represent all christians, but…

haha. thanks for your concern. I am aware of the different varieties of satanism and their basic tenets. I actually disagree that satanists live in the opposite way to the bible. They consider traditional christian values to be oppressive and opposed to values that they consider more important. I was raised a christian and believed it for the longest time - I know their tricks. If you look back in history even the most benign music was labelled as satanic at one point. Remember the 'evil cadence…

What do you guys take the "satanic mindset" to be precisely?

any of form of Nihilism isn't a bastardization of Nietzsche, it's the exact opposite of his ideas. Do you have any particular thinkers in mind who claim to be 'hedonistic nihilists'? Are you using hedonist in the technical or the more colloquial sense?

Fair enough in that sense, but "all of philosophy since" is a bit strong! I'd say that Foucault was the contemporary most influenced by Nietzsche. You've got to remember, however. Nietzsche considered Schopenhauer to be a nihilist; he was influenced by him but only to the extent that he railed against a lot of his ideas. Also, do you have a sauce on Nietszche's influence on Freud? I wasn't aware of one.

Uh, not really true, sorry. I hope you're joking! Schopenhauer influenced Nietszche a lot, but definitely didn't lay any groundwork for any more recent philosophy as far as I'm aware - did you have any particular philosophers who drew from his work aside from my main man Nietzsche?

IQ is a very good predictor of how innately capable someone is of being successful in education. It was designed as a quantifier of educational aptitude.

Oh, I definitely wasn't saying that our choices are socially constructed - I was simply seeking to make the viable distinction between sex and gender. Of course there are observable trends in characteristics between the sexes and of course these are not socially determined. All i'm saying is that we takes these differences and then ascribe them to ALL men and women - when they can't possibly apply to all cases; there will always be exceptions and outliers. For example, you might take an extremel…

I'm sorry to sounds troll-y (I'm not trying to be). But gender just IS a social construct, by definition. It is the set of characteristics we ascribe to the sex of a human - that's what we call gender. Masculine and Feminine traits are the set of heuristics we have built up which enable us to tell someone's sex by knowing certain things about them e.g. their job, their stature, their habits. Gender is a social construct because we (as social animals) have said - there are certain traits that ALL…

yes, in the same way we should probably all become vegan because it is the morally correct thing to do (but you still see me drinking milk and eating eggs). Unfortunately, IMO, there isn't much one can do to aid the plight of omegas without changing the very essence of men in general. Men vary more phenotypically than women and so we will always see more nobel prize winners and idiots, athletes and sloths than in the female population. Something drastic would have to occur to structure society s…

Actually it is entirely consistent. On the one hand we are talking about the way the world is, on the other hand we are talking about the way the world should be. Deserving something is usually associated with justice. John Rawl's famous A Theory of Justice advocates justice by deserts. So, the claim "people deserve a living wage" is the claim that, in a just society, people would have enough to live on from their minimum wage jobs. The world doesn't owe us anything, no. But that doesn't have an…

But so much of what our individual Hell gifts us, is a kind of shared suffering. Right. Welcome to the suck. That's an interestingly masculine (or at least comedic) outlook I think. You must admit, though, that some people's sufferings are just not as important as other's. Some people may be so dramatically affected by having e.g. their car stolen as another may be by having their spouse killed. We must, at some point, draw the line between legitimate and illegitimate levels of suffering for any…

The reason people mock 'triggers' is because the left have abused the term and used it as an excuse to police people's speech and actions to an unreasonable degree. What the right see is 'triggered' being used as a smokescreen for the ban-hammer going down on anything that is simply offensive (not triggering). Trigger warnings are probably overused today because people don't understand what triggering actually involves. In my understanding the mere mention of triggering content is not sufficient…

context dependent There are troops who don't get PTSD at all. Some can adapt to a warzone, and then return home and resume their lives. And there are even killers out there, in or out of uniforms, who actually enjoy the killing. a person blowing up in your face is pretty much always at least shocking. So is the possibility of someone creating new life, with your body. Can you see the difference here though? In certain contexts, a woman may actually desire that a man 'create a new life with her b…

PTSD = PTSD. Don't agree with you there. Pretty sure you can have more or less severe symptoms. Have you seen the videos of shell shocked men from the first world war? You're telling me that they have a similar experience (having seen their best friend fragged in front of them and splattered in their face) as a woman who had a man force himself on her? The relevant difference between the two cases is that, in the case of the soldier, a person blowing up in your face is pretty much always at leas…

1: "fuck off" is not an argument. You're kind of confirming DStoo's point by writing that. 2: He didn't really speak to the motivations of people joining the military. He was saying that deciding to demonstrates a profound lack of critical thought. I agree to an extent. However, I think a big plus of the military is the culture of fitness which is encouraging and the money they might throw your way to get into college. These two perks are why otherwise danger-averse guys might consider it a good…

It's not just you! I'm not saying you're making them up. I was simply asking for a source for the info so I could see for myself! I don't understand how you don't know where the numbers come from. Your comment history was not very helpful in finding answers. I also have more interesting things to do than sift through a google page to find something you probably already know. I get that you're doing the whole abrasive redpiller moral high ground thing, but couldn't you just have linked me to the …

Could have just told me - I don't want to sift through a bunch of pages. Either you don't have a source or you don't know where to find one. You should be able to back up quantified claims like these with papers.

Where are these numbers coming from? I find it hard to believe that a guy who's had sex with 3 women is going to significantly increase the odds of his having a divorce. Interestingly, I think the numbers may be similar for women. I also think there might be an inverse bell curve.

I've come to the conclusion from the women i've been with and met in my life that I will probably only really be happy with a female long term partner if she is bi. I think this is the case because these women seem, from my experience, to know what its like to pine after another woman. This makes up quite a large part of my psyche. So, i think bi women are in a position where they can empathize with me more. They also tend to be a little more sexually open given their non-traditional sexual orie…

Dude bro, You're making a common error/assumption in your response. If you take OP's post charitably as not a claim about every single SJW and their deliberate and Machiavellian scheme to usurp the patriarchal religious values, but instead read him as claiming that their values are driven by or are 'teleologically drawn by' a replacement of the values that used to be given to us by the church, then I think you would be more in line with what OP was talking about. I have taught Nietzsche's geneal…
