This warning could be read in terms or delayed gratification. It is amazing to me how this resonates with other kinds of relationships, like sales or marketing. I used to work for a private school. A family leaving the school would almost never tell you why they were really leaving. They would tell you whatever it was that you couldn't fix immediately.
