I'm the older sister of twin younger brothers. My mom actually seemed to love me in the few years before my brothers were born, but the second she had two little boys to care for I was old news. She never went as far as to put me to work, but she definitely didn't see the child in me in the same way she did my brothers. I remember a lot of 'outside looking in' moments- sort of observing my mom interact with 'her kids', a group that very clearly didn't include me.

My ex would 'do the dishes' by piling them in a giant dirty heap in the sink, from which I'd have to remove them in order to clear space in the sink to actually, y'know, DO THE DISHES. Then he'd get huffy and hurt because I didn't appreciate his 'help'. I still wonder, a decade later, if he was just fucking with my head.

Its chilling that at 5 your intuition was already so honed that you picked up on what was coming toward you.

Regarding prenups- they are not the ironclad protection of assets that many people assume they are. A judge has discretion over a prenup, and prenups get challenged and thrown out all the time, for reasons both good and bad. The fact is, marriage is long and things arise that were never foreseen when the prenup was written. The best way to protect your assets is still to not marry.

YES! The truth is, if you're stuck in an abusive relationship with someone who demands the behaviors on the left, if you suddenly start drawing boundaries and offering the behaviors on the right instead you're going to have BIG PROBLEMS, up to and including getting your ass beat and losing your home, because a narcissist will interpret that as a withdrawal of narcissistic supply.

My mom (who was a serious feminist) told me as a very little girl to go up to ANY RANDOM WOMAN for help before approaching a male police officer. I used to think that was crazy- used to.

Why do men hoard porn like that? It seems so common, and I don't get it at all. I can understand saving a few favorites, but these stories of men having thousands of files of porn are so ubiquitous. I wonder if possessing a physical copy of the segments they enjoy gives them a sense of power over the people in those videos? There's clearly something going on there that's about more than their sexual satisfaction.

If the other woman has no idea he was in a relationship that's one thing, but women who enable men's worst impulses by knowingly cheating with them can get fucked. No quarter for home wreckers here.

When a man interprets an innocent compliment as a sexual come on he's revealing how deeply transactional his view of human relationships is. He would NEVER give someone a compliment unless there was something in it for him, therefore, when he receives a compliment his first thought is not 'aww, how kind of you to make me feel good!' its 'What's your angle?' because he ALWAYS has an angle in every interaction, and can't even comprehend that some people don't.

Depression and loneliness are just the latest excuses for the eternal phenomenon of male violence. Men have been violent for thousands of years, regardless of circumstance. Up, down, rich, poor, powerful, powerless- always always violent, forever.

There's a secondary layer of oppression coded into the idea that women are only valuable if they're pretty: most women, for most of their lives, don't have the option of being pretty. The 'pretty' litmus test allows the devaluing of little girls, old women, the fat, the disabled, women of color, and on and on. Add it up, that's MOST women getting pushed around and shat on for not living up to a bar they didn't set.

This goes with my belief that when men harass in groups the loudest and most enthusiastic harasser is almost always the lowest ranking member of the group. He's not equipped to challenge his bros for dominance, so he creates demonstrations of dominance by bullying women. Its a way of saying 'see guys? I may be weak, but I'm like you!' The woman being harassed is just collateral damage in this process.

If we weren't in this bizarre situation culturally I don't think I'd be spending time and money on this, but right now blazing a fattie and firing up rdr2 is a good way to pass the time. It surprises and saddens me how many women are laser focused on keeping their men, to the point of driving off any other woman they come in contact with. They seem to see other women exclusively as threats and rivals- not much friendship to be found there. The irony is I don't want their boring old husband, and he doesn't want boring old me. It's all for nothing.

If you're not doing it perfectly they don't notice and it doesn't count. Men see housekeeping as pass/fail- you can do three loads of laundry, change the sheets on 3 beds and clean two bathrooms and all he'll notice is the pan soaking on the counter. Then its 'what do you even do all day if you don't clean the house?'

They go hand in hand. A boy who plays COD and then jacks off to porn ends his day (subconsciously) feeling like a badass warrior stud, despite the fact that he never left his house. Why try to achieve in the outside world when you can just replicate that feeling of achievement synthetically?

Its pretty fucking sad that the sex I had as a 16 year old in the 90's was apparently more intimate, reciprocal and consensual than the sex most adults are having today. We would've all (boys and girls) been horrified by anyone trying to bring choking into sex- that was literally unheard of.

It seems really inauthentic and showboaty to me too. I have a male friend who cries at political defeats- he cried when trump was elected and when RBG died. While those things were definitely worth crying over his attitude seemed to be 'I'm crying so I care more than you' while to me it looked like a lot of histrionic chest beating. Like, we're all upset dude. Pull it together.

Plenty of men on reddit (and men in general) are outraged and deeply threatened at the idea of women talking to each other without a male spy / censor present. They'll do anything to shut down spaces they can't dominate, and on reddit that means lobbing accusations of toxicity / bigotry etc. Its not a legit criticism- its an attempt to attack female centered subs in a way that may eventually lead to them being taken down. Its worked before.

I've been in her shoes- losing that much weight can be a disillusioning experience. You suddenly see clearly how denigrated you were when you were fat, and how objectified and relentlessly visible you are in your new body. She might regain the weight- I did.

Women aren't disgusted by male displays of emotion- they're disgusted by the shallow, immature, fragile interior lives those displays reveal. Women are so much tougher than men, so much more resilient, and have much more difficult lives, even when they're outwardly privileged. It can be hard to react with empathy when your initial reaction to 'male trauma' is to think 'THAT!?! Thats what you're upset about? I wish that was my biggest problem!'

This jibes with my dark theory that makeup is not as much about looking good as it is about being seen to conform. A lot of people will see a 50 year old as more 'put together' when she's wearing makeup, regardless of how it actually looks, while the 25 year old with flawless skin gets shit on for being 'sloppy' when she chooses to not wear makeup because she genuinely looks better without it. Makeup /= beauty, makeup = a sign of submission to oppressive gender roles.

Honestly, I'd guess we're indistinguishable from the rest of women on reddit. Maybe a bit older than average. My favorite middle school sex ed story involves a discussion of the female orgasm. A teacher told us that women do have orgasms, but not every time they have sex. One of the boys in my class was visibly outraged at the unfairness of this- he clearly enjoyed his orgasms very much and thought it was bullshit that it didn't work the same way for girls. I've always wondered if he grew up to be a generous lover.

Misogyny enables and justifies men oppressing women- its a self serving means to an end. If men saw women as equal humans it'd be a lot harder to subject us to the brutalities and deprivations that are historically part and parcel of being a woman. Believing women are dishonest, stupid, disloyal and generally less than human allows men to see their abuse as not only justified, but ethical.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy20/08/20 07:27 PM
15

I've thought for a long time Reddit allows a high level of misogyny to proliferate here because it drives women away from using reddit. I suspect Reddit executives are terrified of having too many women on Reddit, because even a 25% female user base could get the site branded a 'women's site' and abandoned by its current users. They think making reddit too hospitable to women will be the kiss of death for the site, and they tolerate the misogyny because it does such a good job of keeping Reddit …

I think men will drag society back to the stone ages before they'll allow women to lead. As long as they can keep life primitive enough that their physical dominance allows them to control women and children, they'll be happy. I don't know how this problem can be overcome.

Getting into true crime has definitely made me more wary of men in general. Its hard to ignore the fact that 90% of true crime stories are about men killing women, often in horribly sadistic ways. The fact that they conflate basic bodily autonomy with their desire to jack it shows how trivial they think women's self determination and safety really are. Its no different than saying 'So you were repeatedly molested by your stepdad? A drunk girl grabbed my butt at a party once, so I've been sexually assaulted too.'

I've never been happier to live alone. Cooking is the biggest benefit- I can cook whatever I want, or not cook at all, and there's no one around to bitch at me. My favorite quarantine meal has been broccoli roasted with a whole head of garlic and half a package of bacon, mixed with rice. Its delicious- my ex husband would have been offended if I'd even tried to serve it to him.

Thankfully I've never been in that situation- but I'd guess that being coldly discarded by someone I loved would be more traumatic than the rape itself- not that these guys would care.

Yep- LVM's created FDS with their shitty manipulative behavior. If men treated women with decency and weren't so committed to manipulating and using us this sub wouldn't exist. The last 50 years have been a big experiment with sexual freedom and men have fucked it up by trying to exploit the system and refusing to do give-and-take. If we're rolling back the welcome mat and putting some requirements on them gaining sexual, emotional and labor access to our lives they have no one to blame but them…

To my ex husband moments after he told me he was leaving me for someone else: "That's what I get for marrying trash" and " I'm GLAD those kids bullied you in school!" Yeah, not a lot of begging went on that day.

Most men have no loyalty, and see marriage as a way to keep a woman happy rather than an actual deep commitment- its not that they break their commitment, it was never there in the first place. They're always looking out for a better option, and will leave a loyal wife in a heartbeat if their circumstances improve or their wife's appeal declines. On a deep level women know this- thats why women feel so much pressure to not 'let yourself go' 'lose the baby weight', stay blonde, stay fit- and when…

You're totally right about the 'woman' vs. 'women' thing- thats really telling. To them, we are not individuals, we are a homogenous group that can all be described as a plural.

Imagine if all the pickmes in this video suddenly became FDS'ers: no more unearned admiration, effortless sexual access, a personal audience that always strokes men like this. What if all these women decided they didn't want to be objectified, that they had value other than their bodies, that they had too much dignity and loyalty to crawl over the backs of other women just to get attention from worthless men? LVM like this would be brought down to earth hard and fast. "What? I have to make an ef…

The general attitude on reddit seems to be 'everyone is a white male until proven otherwise'. It puts everyone in the exhausting catch 22 of either letting an assumption of white-maleness go uncorrected, and therefore allowing one's best thoughts to be attributed to white males, which only reinforces stereotypes, or mentioning 'actually its she, not he' and getting a lot of backlash about 'don't get offended, it doesn't matter' and a flurry of downvotes on the post everyone was uprooting 15 minu…

Men are so arrogant that they don't realize that there's a difference between fashion or costume jewelry and fine jewelry. I've seen so many men propose with a cheap silver ring with a soft stone that won't hold up long term- it may be pretty now but in 5 years it'll be unwearable and hideous because that's the nature of cheap jewelry- that's why its cheap. Meanwhile, a ring made out of gold or platinum set with a diamond, sapphire or ruby will still look decent in 50 years- it'll be worn but no…

Yep, exactly. Historically, jewelry for women had two meanings: It was their only personal savings- their only real asset that could be exchanged for cash that was wholly theirs. Its 'earnest money'- when a man spends a painful amount on a ring he's saying "look- I'm willing too make a financial sacrifice to have you in my life, because I value you." It also shows a readiness for marriage on the part of the man- basically, if you can't get the cash together to give a decent ring you shouldn't be…

Internet porn and casual misogyny has turned a lot of formerly HVM into LVM. Older men who didn't grow up this way are unfortunately not immune.

... and the LVM will realize it too but he'll blame you for it. Not living with a man seems like a good way to cut through this BS- you can't be put in charge of the dishes and laundry if you're not actually there.

Men's assertion that women are shallow gold diggers is another of their projections- in reality men are relentless materialists. They never outgrow that adolescent "money burning a hole in your pocket" phase. They appear to be cheap, but they're only cheap with other people so they can buy stupid luxury useless crap for themselves. They'd rather buy a $1000 toy drone than braces for their kid. This plays out especially clearly in developing countries- many NGO's insist on giving money directly t…

This is something I've been thinking about a lot. I'm single right now, so its a good time to consider this stuff. I'm actually trying to let go a little of my need to be with an educated and urbane man. In my area, most of the men who treat women well seem to be more rural types- not unsuccessful, but the type to own pool cleaning and landscape companies, not architecture firms. They hold doors open, they pay for things, they laugh at women's jokes and make jokes back. They don't demand perfect…

The power of FDS is that it allows us to believe the things we already know to be true. It says 'if something seems a certain way to you, that's the way it is' 'follow your gut' 'be a bad bitch- don't sacrifice everything to be liked' 'don't be afraid to make people mad to keep them from taking advantage of you' 'when people tell you you're not good enough, take a long hard look at what they're getting out of that' 'there are worse things than going it alone- a life where you depend on yourself …

They can see how powerful and right on this sub's philosophy is and it terrifies them. I haven't even been here very long and I can already see the changes this sub is making in how I relate to men, not because its changing my mind about anything but because it's affirming what I've always known but never really been able to admit, even to myself. We're tearing holes in the delicate veil of male decency and equality and exposing the spoiled little boys hiding there- the fact that men hate that i…

There's abuse and there's abuse. Sure, men get abused, but they very rarely get seriously injured or killed by their abusers, nor do they fear that outcome.

I don't think they are obsessed with sex, I think they're obsessed with power and control expressed through sexual access. This is why a married man will chase tail every day- when he "scores" it gives him a sense of power. That same man will kill his wife for sleeping with another man despite not having sex with her for years- its not about sexual jealousy, its about her taking his sense of power and control away from him. Its a lot like a guy who has a classic car in his garage- its about havi…

I'm probably not fully understanding this, but I'm wary of letting others define our behavior for us. The two examples used here, coming off as sarcastic and using 'big words' seem to me to be indicative of a person who's intimidated by a woman who shows her intellect. I've been on the receiving end of the 'big words' criticism all my life, and I take it as an indicator that the person I'm talking to is probably not really compatible with my personality. My response has been to find other 'big w…

I thought Carrie's relationships with older men were straight up dystopian. There's a real 'trapped in a gilded cage' horror movie aspect to them. She's so clearly replaceable to them- just the current young body warming their bed, soon to be replaced by a younger warm body. Meanwhile, she shits all over the decent guys who actually like her. Dumb broad.
