It is an entirely different situation to get in a fight over a random girl at a bar. I personally would have turned to the girl and calmly said "It was nice talking to you." With a little touch of the shoulder. You then look like the bigger person, instead of causing a scene. You are a hero in the situation, because he then becomes the over the top asshole.
