My employer is the federal government, but I'm think the EI-type payment I got was from a provincial entity. so not EI, but maybe QPIP? http://www.rqap.gouv.qc.ca/index_en.asp I'm not a hundred percent since it was 4 years ago and I barely understood it then...

Federal Government employee here, It's been 4 years since my youngest was born AND I'm in Quebec, so it may be special here, but I got 6 months paid parental leave. I'm not 100% where the money came from, but it was 60% from EI (or something equivalent in Quebec) and a "top up" from my employer. I basically got paid the same, give or take 20$. I took 6 months because the place my wife worked would only top up for 6 months, so she did the first six months and I did the next 6 months, which means …

This is true. But the OP didn't use other quotes. If the other quotes are readily available, then OP should post them. If we want feminists to argue based on fact over conjecture, we must do the same. Use the right arguments to ensure you never have to say "but this other stuff"

These are very valid points and I agree that, based on this clarification, those quotes are irrelevant. I believe there was a third quote. Would you care to explain that one? I believe the precedence has been set by other feminists that you may not use the argument "That person is crazy/not representative of all women". p.s. This may be true, but you can't click a link on a paper handout. It is very easy to make it appear that it is less than honest since the majority of people won't dig further. If someone says "Look at the study they cite, it's their own study", the majority of people listening to that person will take them at their word because it appears to be logical and they can't be bothered to dig further. I wouldn't be surprised to hear that, in households that have the woman as the major or sole breadwinner that have ended in divorce, it is because the woman feels the man is taking advantage of the situation and growing lazy because he chooses to stay at home. When my wife had to go back to work early and I took 6 months parental leave, there certainly was a strain because my wife felt that she was working harder than me. It was an odd time because the situation has been reversed in the past.

This argument has always baffled me. Who do you think writes and edits Encyclopedias and text books? Are these just some more books written by an omnipotent being? The same types of people who write those books are the types of people who write Wikipedia entries.
