I love their daughter, she’s awesome. We instantly clicked when I first met her and every visit of hers is a joy. Her mother, on the other hand, sucks. And it’s not like I WANT to dislike her - she just makes it so damn hard to to not feel this way.

Texting her back may sound juvenile but I was making it clear that it was NOT my husband’s fault for sending the photo. I can see how it got misinterpreted but again it honestly wasn’t my intent. The fact that his ex wife has to see photos we send (mostly of her brothers) might suck for the wife but tough - this is part of the package deal for her as well. I know their daughter very well. She doesn’t cry or feel second best. I know this because we had discussed with her well before Valentine’s D…

I can’t even begin to imagine how difficult that must be. I’m triggered by this stuff too and they’re not even my ex wives. I know the divorce has caused a lot of grief but it definitely sounds like it was still worth it to rid yourself of such a bad marriage to her. You are so right. My husband and I are true partners and are on the same page which makes a world of difference. I won’t lie and say it’s always easy but having the same goals helps keep us on track.

That’s absolutely crazy. She’s one of those ex wives that almost sound made up because it’s so ridiculous. Falsely accusing you of molesting the kids?! Isn’t that somehow punishable? Just remember that in two years you’ll have a huge burden lifted off your shoulders and you won’t have her constant threats hanging over you. I sympathize for you and all the dads dealing with these nutjob ex wives.

I know you aren’t some woman- hater, and neither am I. Men and women both suffer from gender challenges but from what I’ve personally witnessed (at least when it comes to family matters concerning divorces) men generally have the short end of the stick.

You’re fine, this is a place to talk about this. She sounds extremely entitled to the point of being almost comical. If I may ask how do you find out she reacts this way? Are you guys on decent speaking terms or is it through your child?

Omg this happened to my husband. He got a letter in the mail from her lawyer because he would run late sometimes and had been asking for compromising on pick up/drop off. Funny how none of this mattered when she was running late or wanted their daughter during his time. She wasn’t always this bitchy about being flexible until we sold their marital home and moved into a new house. We have suspicions that she was pissed about it because it was around that time that she got uptight about making dif…

Goodness, she sounds like a piece of work. Why on earth would she be entitled to alimony, especially when she is remarried (I thought remarriage automatically disqualifies you from alimony). And gross, she was cheating on you with tons of people. If anything she owes you for putting you at risk for diseases. Hopefully these next two years go quickly for you.

As a woman I agree with this. I’ve even told my husband that I can admit that starting as young girls we are treated more “carefully” than boys and throughout our lives women are seen as the victims in many instances. Hell I would be terrified to be a man in our society because of the clear injustices. I think the exposure to my husband’s divorce and being a mom to boys has changed my perspective on this.

At the time of the separation I don’t believe they had a formal custody agreement in place. Even after they got divorced my husband planned a NYC trip that the ex wife tried to deny him from taking their daughter on but her lawyer basically said tough shit, he can take her wherever he wants on his time.

You sound very similar to my husband. A good guy just trying his best to be a loving and involved dad, meanwhile dealing with the hurdles that the mother throws at you trying to make it harder. It’s devastating to hear of these cases and see it happening right in front of you. My husband always reminds me when I get pissed at his ex that the best kind of revenge is through your own personal success. We refrain from getting into heated arguments and are trying to focus on our own marriage and doi…

Hey there, you are definitely correct about the grudge thing. My husband describes her as an angry woman who didn’t know how to ever calm down after a storm. There was no abuse or infidelity, however the marriage turned loveless and despite his efforts to fix things (he managed to get her into marriage counseling once and that was a disaster and booked a couples retreat-type weekend that she backed out of) she didn’t want to put the effort in to salvage their marriage. He felt hopeless and over …
