CMV: The advice “you need to love yourself first before someone else can love you” doesn’t work for men the same way it does for women.Thank you. Humans aren’t a monolith, so I completely believe it wouldn’t work for you to live that way. I just can’t help finding it very damaging when the dominant rhetoric on Reddit is the self-love kind which undermines key aspects of many humans’ need for companionship, acceptance, validation, love and so on. Obviously there will be outliers to this but in the same way I wouldn’t recommend most people to physically hurt themselves just because SOME people find it enjoyable, I just can’t acce… | /r/PurplePillDebate | 03/09/21 02:19 PM
CMV: The advice “you need to love yourself first before someone else can love you” doesn’t work for men the same way it does for women. No, it’s getting upvotes because this is an America-centric, hyper individualist sub that thinks being nondependent on other people is normal (it isn’t). Your mentality on here is NOT normal, and I sincerely hope it doesn’t spread out out Reddit to the wider world. | /r/PurplePillDebate | 03/09/21 02:11 PM
CMV: The advice “you need to love yourself first before someone else can love you” doesn’t work for men the same way it does for women. The vast majority of humans on this planet especially in the west have some degree of insecurity. It is normal and ok to be insecure about things and rely/lean on other people to help you get through that. I can't believe this mentality of not relying on anyone but yourself is getting so many upvotes. It's disgusting. | /r/PurplePillDebate | 03/09/21 01:12 PM
CMV: The advice “you need to love yourself first before someone else can love you” doesn’t work for men the same way it does for women. That idea is terrible!! What kind of mentality is that? MOST humans need a pretty big degree of external validation, especially if they've had previously and don't have it anymore. Why do you guys believe in this hyper-individualistic bullshit?? It's so disappointing man...touch grass | /r/PurplePillDebate | 03/09/21 01:10 PM
CMV: The advice “you need to love yourself first before someone else can love you” doesn’t work for men the same way it does for women.Wait...but in the real world so many people seek to find fulfillment through a relationship, find it, and become more happy as a result! Like the comments disagreeing with OP just seem divorced from reality. The thing about it being bad to put ALL your chance of happiness onto another person is only really bad in the extreme and decently rare scenarios that people on here use. Some degree of codependency and fulfillment from other people and a longing for that is normal. I can't believe this act… | /r/PurplePillDebate | 03/09/21 01:05 PM
