What I learned and live by when moving on through a divorce of any type. Especially with a potential narcissist! SUCCESS IS THE BEST REVENGE!

My question to the same topic is not when….but how. I am 40 and was married for 20. I am introverted and honestly kind of boring now. I really find it peaceful to be at home, wearing comfy clothes and working on things around the house. I like to eat at home and not out. I like to drink a couple beers in the evening, binge watch movies and go to bed at a decent hour. Considering that a small part of why my wife and I are divorcing is because she feels like there’s too much in life still missing …

100% not on purpose. I’ve paid every single dollar on my truck note for 5 years and it’s always just worked out better for interest rate us both being on the loan. I treat her finances as if they are mine at risk as well.

I am not a credit score psycho like her and so deep down I think the same thing. Us splitting in divorce with a 730+ score each is not something to freak out about. And to be honest with you, I have never experienced or would have thought one missed mortgage payment would tank it that bad. I mean banks offer people all kinds of other things! Such as when homeowners lose their employment or get sick- many get delinquent payments put on the back end of the loan penalty free to afford them a few mo…

Much appreciated brother. Back at you. I’m sure you’ll do fine and get back to happiness.

Your in the right in ways as well. There are a lot of other actions between A-Z that are much healthier ways to get on common ground and on a better page that’s much better of an option than what is your experience. All I am saying is that not all glances are meant to be attraction or sexual, I just felt so invisible that I felt like it didn’t matter what I did so why not…. Or like I said, did it as a way to test if all women looked at me like garbage the way my wife does. It’s not right by any …

My guess (or just a possibility) is you make him feel super inferior in a lot of ways. That’s the case with mine, my soon to be ex wife is gorgeous…. But to me it’s irrelevant because of how she always found ways to insult my manhood and ambitions and accomplishments by labeling them failures once she was crazy mad at me about whatever. The man is probably not looking to be disrespectful in all cases, he’s probably looking to see what gets reciprocated from other women because he’s seriously que…

I wish you all the luck, that most could use. Hope it all goes smooth with not much more incurred damage when it’s final. Thanks for your time taken for feedback

It’s a story just like any other. My failures, her failures and our inability to be better for each-other to continue our life together. We met at 20 and we both are now 40 and this is the change our marriage is calling for. It’s not just a one person blame game, and now we are letting the tension and resentment dictate our behavior towards each-other right now in the divorce. I appreciate your insight and sharing your feedback. I genuinely appreciate all that have taken time to respond to my pos…

Not late in the process. But redacted the paperwork a few times, only to end up in the same place 3-6-9 months later. You said the exact word that is my biggest fault in my outlook. Resentment. I have a lifetimes worth towards mine and I’ve tried to therapy it out of me and do therapy to try to learn on my end how to overcome it. I still will always only love her the most because of 20 years we put in together. I just think growing apart just happens and pain & frustrations never fade- or enough…

Pointers and warnings noted. Thank you for your feedback and expertise. I see a lot of do therapy, and I been in therapy personally and maritally off and on for years. I been in personal therapy for almost 1-2x a week this entire 2025 year. I’m glad that’s going to help me, even though my goal wasn’t to be in therapy to get divorced to use it as proof to help make me look better to a judge. It just worked out that I still believe that I am not too good for it, and take it serious by going. I’m j…

I am definitely going to do that, after I know what I get to keep. Anything that even remotely seems to make me happy or make my day a better one, she wants to take it from me. I’m trying to not be too much of either. Not too happy turning back to hobbies and not too miserable and finally turn into the “slob” she unfairly thinks of me as- perfect divorce ammunition. I am not allowed to be any form of happy because the answer “only her” has been the only permitted correct answer for the 2nd half …

Appreciate it. It’s definitely like a dark place in our society. Mind has never raced thoughts the way it does when divorce becomes real and not just a threat. I suppose my situation is a mixture of a little bit of any other situation. Most of the same common issues but just mostly being toxic together. We just got off the phone and ironed out the details she’s asking of me. I pretty much have to assume all the finances due to I am just buying her out on the mortgage. We live in a home that’s wa…
