Rather than emphasize extroversion, the emphasis should be on general awareness. I also practice meditation and highly recommend it. That being said, I understand that it's been recommended to death and without it being focused on a particular subject (extroversion, cutting off thoughts, socializing) it loses its appeal for a lot of men. Not everyone can be an extrovert. But everyone can be more aware of the stimuli around them, be it verbal communication, body language perception or taking note…

Basically, if you're not able to look at a chair and notice its qualities, and really notice that its a chair, not just glance over it, how can you do the same with other humans? This is essential because often we think we're fully aware of the person in front us, but our attention is elsewhere. Being able to put all the focus and awareness on the situation you're in allows you to be more adaptable and creative in that situation.

I look at the object and then put my focus on myself looking at the object. It's a bit meta, but that's the best way I can describe. "I am looking at a lamp." "I am noticing that I'm looking at a lamp"

I really did not understand where you were going with that. Could you maybe explain it? Ross Jeffries stuff works, his NLP language patterns and stories. You must make sure you have rapport with someone first before you begin blasting them with super weird NLP language patterns.

Haha good catch. It was more of a phrase than an actual emotion lol.

A lot of it is shit, but the gold nuggets are very, very useful. If you plan to get into it I would recommend you figure out why the things that work for you really work, take what is useful and discard the rest.

Once you've done this exercise for a while you'll find that you can influence people just by changing your state. My favorite way of gaining rapport is to use the "equal/friend" state and then just go up to people, projecting it powerfully and gaining rapport very quickly.

You can use whatever emotion you want but I don't see much use for anger. It tends to inhibit my most a Resourceful states and everything that anger can do for me I can get from any other state, like determination or motivation or anything else.

For more "complex" states I just remember past experiences where I felt them and act as if it's going on now. What I didn't mention in this post was the existence of Meta-States, which is when you have a state above a state. You can feel happy, and then feel angry about your happiness, and then sad about your anger of your happiness. So you have 1 primary state, then a state "above" it, and a state above that second state and this can go on forever. Really interesting stuff, I may post more abou…

I completely agree with you but I was trying to make the post as accessible as possible for others.

You can simply try the exercises and get the benefits. While I know of no psychologist who uses these exercises in their practice, I remember Amy Cuddy's talk about power posing being very popular around here (stand in a "heroic pose" and take up as much space as possible and you'll feel better) and this is quite similar.

You can be the judge of that. For me, I just do it for however long it takes. You just try to go as far and deep into the emotion as possible when I hit that peak state I stay there for a few seconds and go back to neutral.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
